2 FAST,
posted on 12 Aug 2009While I wasn't expecting greatness, I was hoping that "2 Fast 2 Furious" would be something entertaining and fun. With a reported $76 million budget, the Miami flavor, and a successful sequel to blaze the path, all they had to do was not mess things up.Luckily, Singleton and Walker brought their fun and games and Eva Mendes brought her glorious beauty. All in all, it was a good ride. With that said, there's a stunt where Walker is driving on the shore while the bad guy is offshore on the boat. To get from point A (land) to point B (the bad guy's boat), Walker drives a car off a tiny mound, has the car turn right in the air... sail across the water... turn left... and then lands on the upper deck of the boat. With a huge budget and hundreds of people working on the movie, it's kind of shocking nobody said, "John, there ain't no way hitting that little mound is going to get that car high enough and far enough to land on the upper deck of that boat... much less change direction in flight." Even worse, a bad guy takes Eva Mendes downstairs on the boat... then is nowhere to be found when Walker and Co. land the car on the deck and fight evil. Or, maybe me chuckling after seeing the car stunt caused me to miss Walker and Co. kick the 2nd bad guy's butt. In an apparent ode to George Miller, Singleton looks like he studied the Road Warrior hero shots (camera pushes into drivers door window and we see hero driving... or... camera glides over hood and pushes in on hero behind the wheel). Oh, and the Asian girl (street racer) was cute, but kind of weak in the acting department. They would have gotten far more juice had they gone with Izabella Miko (the Russian tease from Coyote Ugly) or Charlotte Ayanna (like Mendes, another Training Day alum).Regardless, 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS will make a huge pile of cash and it's a fun movie. :)
What a pessimist!
posted on 02 Aug 2009Wow - I was just reading what the person wrote on the main movie page and I feel really sorry for anyone who reads that and believes any of it. I didn't really expect much from this movie, because like most sequels, they tend to leave much to be desired. I was really impressed with the way this sequel went a completely different way from the first one. My sister asked me which one I liked better and I couldn't really tell her. They are two completely different movies. And I think that the pessimistic fellow on page one seemed to have missed the fact that that was the point. I don't think the intention was to pick up where the other one left off and I don't think this movie was intended to be anything other than what it was - a young, hot, car movie. It's not intended for old people - it's intended for the young. It's not for people who don't like cars or can't appreciate the awesome ending to the police chase at the end. Sure, the dialogue wasn't close to Shakesperian sonnets, but that WAS NOT the point. I gave it an 8 - I was impressed with the skills of the novice actors and the action sequences. It was also really nice to have a sequel that you didn't HAVE to see the original because they had nothing really to do with each other.
The only real thing in common was the cars. It's fun and fresh. I had a blast seeing it at the drive-in and I've seen it 3 times since and I guarantee I'll have the DVD the day it comes out. Sit back and let yourself be entertained because this movie was great!

posted on 25 Jul 2009Look!...Running down your leg....It's brown!....It's a bird!....It's a plane!....No it's 2Fast 2Furious!!!. Spewing soon, into a pair of underpants near you!!.Yes, this is true Hollywood butt grease exploding from the American cinema fudge crack. The ugly wings. The flimsy fenders. That annoying exhaust note. The over-sized mufflers. The over-sized egos. These pint-sized cars sound like a retard trying to sing an opera. What am I speaking of? Why the stupid, little, dinky, compact, 4 cylinder cars glorified in this movie of course! This is another excuse to capitalize on the trend of telling people whats cool - stupid characters, no plot (it is important), laughable urban dialog, and mindless action. The only skid marks left by this movie are brown.
Listless and awful
posted on 25 Jul 2009If you want to see a film made by a hack, then 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS is the perfect example of such a movie. There's absolutely nothing interesting going on in this "film". No story, no acting, no action or momentum. For a movie with the words FAST and FURIOUS, it's one of the most inert and listless films I've ever seen. I've seen 4 minute long music videos that were more compelling and complex and energized than this feature. The bulk of the movie is just about these actors standing around, looking extremely bored, and spouting crappy dialogue. This movie is so bad, it makes the original look like a classic. The first film was really fun and action-packed, with amazing stunts, compared to this useless sequel. I really regretted renting 2 SLOW 2 BORED LOOKING.
2 fast 2 furious?Sure, but they forgot to hollow, 2 hammy...
posted on 23 Jul 2009What do you do when your leading man in the hottest new franchise in town decides to jump ship to become `The New Arnie' TM, even after declining a paycheck in excess of $20 million? Easy: take the other leading man, give him the rains of `top dog', throw in some of the coolest R'n'B artist around and a dash of semi-dressed females, and you've got your sequel to 2001's hit urban car flick `The Fast & The Furious'. Paul Walker returns as Brian O' Connor, who after his behaviour in the films predecessor, has found himself kicked out of the force and out on his own. He still manages to get in a few races down at the local, but his life has slowly becoming empty. Once such race goes awry, and he is caught by the local cops. They agree to release him, but not before he reluctantly accepts going undercover, this time to infiltrate a local drug lord (Hauser) who is sitting on millions of dollars from his dealings. The assignment pairs his old racing buddy (Tyrese) who himself has been recently released from jail, where Brian sent him when he was an undercover agent. Along the way, they must also rescue another agent (Mendes) who has been undercover with Hauser for years. If you enjoyed the first film, you will love this one just as much. What this one looses in a charismatic and buoyant actor in Vin Diesel, it makes up for in comedy, with Diesel's butch driver making way for a much more light-hearted, easier on the eye foil for Brian in Tyrese. His comical performance is the one of the films highlights. However, he place second fiddle to the mountains of cool cars that appear in all their glory. The races and chases are great, as action-packed and high-octane as the original, though some of them look horribly, and dissapointlingly computer generated.
The other performers are also of a decent quality; Walker's boy-next-door charm shining thorough a largely undemanding role, which Eva Mendes has staked her claim as the hottest new babe on the scene, with her sexiness and charm doing her character no harm. The storyline is ice thin, with no character development whatsoever, and with hammy dialogue that would make Mr. Schwarzenegger stand up and applaud, director Singleton takes the easy way out, and pounds on the chases and fast-paced action as compensation. Which, in the end, is what the audience wants anyways, right?A film like "2 Fast" is not supposed to be Shakespeare, and was never supposed to change the way we make our films in the future. Its sole purpose was to combine cars, beautiful men, half-naked women and bundles of lightening-paced adventure. On those counts, the film is the near perfect popcorn flick. Leave your brain in the glove compartment and enjoy. ***
it's fun yes
posted on 23 Jul 2009It was fun to watch. Brainless at times but fun. Some stuff didn't make any sense tho. Why the character played by ludicrous had to drive the car, the police just chased over an half hour. (why not just leave it? So no1 gets to blame) Like how the bad guy didn't wait for the other car to arrive at the ship and have all of his money. Even when they dropped one of the bad guys in a lake he didn't manage to contact his leader and afterward they didn't care about him at all. And for the carstunt at the end.. very nice. But how can you manage to bring back a cruiseship if the contralto is totally trashed. It seems so obvious to me that it bothered me.You may find i'm bitching about some details. But watch it and you'll notice some things just don't feel right.
Such a great movie
posted on 17 Jul 2009Brian is such a ladies man in this movie as he is in every movie - Vin Deisel should so have been in this movie, him not being in it recked it. Tyrese Gibson did play a good role as roman Peirce and he was a great actor in this movie, very funny and tough, I think that he should be snapped up by a Hollywood asap as he is the "must have" person in any movie role he plays. The Cubans were being asses through the hole movie as was Carter. One question though, how did Carter know that O'Connor and Pierce were 'originally' going to the airstrip? And how did he know that Monica was a cop towards the end? The only problem with this flick is that there are heaps of loose ends that need to be tidied up, including some from the original movie. But then again which movie doesn't? 10/10
2 Fast 2 Furious was better than the first one!
posted on 07 Jul 2009I absolutely loved this movie! It was much better than the first one. I think the characters all had good chemistry with each other and they fit together real well. Plus the driving and cars were sweet! They got the Mitsubishi evo 7's before they even came out and then they added some cool graphic designs to the sides! Even though some of the driving seemed like it would be impossible to do it still seemed really realistic. The songs for this movie were really cool too. They seemed to fit in with what was happening in the movie and add to the overall effect. There was only one scene in the movie I didn't like but other than that this movie was great. It is my new favorite and i wish i could drive like that. I think part of the reason I like it so much is that I am able to experience all the car racing and cool stunts which is something I wouldn't normally be able to do. I think you should definitely watch it.
A surprising good time
posted on 05 Jul 2009I enjoyed the first one of this pair and I wasn't sure if I'd like 2 Fast as much. I missed Vin Diesel, but in all honesty this was quite enjoyable. The cast wasn't as memorable all around but, Paul Walker made up for it. Not the most original plot in the world, but visually fun.
Just another day on 1-95....
posted on 01 Jul 2009...is what I said when I saw the preview for "2 Fast and 2 Furious" featuring cars tearing up the highway. When it came on ITV I couldn't wait to watch it. If you love CARtoons, you'll love this movie. It's got loads of cars playing the role of bumper cars and hitting each other, or playing the role of Formula 1 and ripping up the asphalt. It's got trucks running over the cars. It's got a car crunching into a boat. It's got loads of girls in thigh high white boots who happen to design cars in their sketchbooks and girls in skimpy shorts who hang around garages with wrenches in their hands while the guys add turbo and Bond ejector seats and the soundtrack plays "Pump it up". Whoah! I wanted to watch the movie because I'm from Miami. Miami looks good in "2 Fast and 2 Furious". Little Haiti shines out in one sequence and there are plenty of shots of palm trees, swimming pools, and Biscayne Bay. There's a scene set in a club that will make interior design freaks drool. I wish the producers added shots of the Art Deco district or Coral Gables. Most of the scenes take place on the local freeways. If you are a Miami traffic nut, "2 Fast and 2 Furious" will head you straight off the exit ramp."2 Fast and 2 Furious" is great on a winter's evening in a cold climate. The Miami skyline, the muscle shirts, and the dialogue will put you in the mood for a margarita. "2 Fast and 2 Furious" zips by very quickly. It's entertaining even if you don't like cars or you've never wished you had the guts to speed up the hard shoulder.
This is supposed to be fast? and furious????
posted on 15 Jun 2009OK, let me admit that I and a bunch of friends started watching this movie expecting it to be quite bad. That's something I do rather often, and sometimes the supposedly bad movies turn out to be rather decent, but in this case I'd have to say that the movie lives up to my expectations in every way: it's a total piece of crap. This movie is a prime example of people thinking that they can sell a movie buy just putting some nice cars in it and then ignoring every other aspect of it. Granted, the cars are nice, but they're painted in such ridiculous lolly-pop colors that they hurt the eyes, and they're so conspicuous that it's hard to imagine why the police hasn't impounded all of them yet. I can understand that the plot isn't the top priority of this movie, which is a good thing since the plot makes no sense whatsoever. That wouldn't matter if the action was any good, but unfortunately it isn't. First, it's boring. The racing scenes are endlessly drawn out, and the drivers are far more interested in making terrible one-liners comments than they are in concentrating on the road and the other cars. Most of the time, we get boring images of the drivers, or of a hand shifting up or down a gear. Why???? When we actually do get to see the outside of the cars, they mostly just zig-zag around each other for no apparent reason. Most of the drivers, especially the police, don't even seem to be able of driving in a straight line. Yawn. Secondly, it's silly. Some of the "highlights" of this movie feature a car jumping over another car in mid-air, a car driving backwards over the freeway at ridiculous speeds (he's even overtaking other cars...yeah right), and two cars , supposedly at full speed on a straight road, who keep overtaking each other. Hello????? It's all so incredibly overdone and unrealistic that I can't help but laugh at it instead of being thrilled like I probably should be. OK, so the story is crap and the action is crap, what else did they screw up? Well, the soundtrack. In my opinion, high-speed driving should be associated with great rock songs that convey a sense of speed. Instead, we get a collection of completely uninspired and slow R&B songs. Yuck. The acting is pretty bad too, with lots of characters but not a single one that's even remotely interesting or likeable. The two main characters are supposed to be tough guys, but they're so jealous of each other and whine so much that you'd suspect that they're a couple, which is probably not what the makers of the movie intended but it really appeared this way to me. Anyway, this movie completely lived up to my expectations and has earned itself a honourable notation in the top ten worst movies I've ever seen. Only watch when accompanied by lots of friends and lots of beer.
an utter waste of time...
posted on 15 Jun 2009The apotheosis of drek. Perhaps the only redeeming quality to this catastrophy is that its mere existence must somehow pave the way towards a better cinema. That is to say, at the very bottom of all movies, there can be only one place to go and that is up. This one is truly awful.
High Octane Action
posted on 11 Jun 2009Spoiler Within.Probably the best way to enter a movie like this, is to not expect the best acting in the world. And also not to expect the best plot in the world.
The true objective is to provide intense action scenes that will create a movie appealing to people that are about 16-25 years old.Based on this requirement, the movie succeeds at what it intends to do. It has plenty of high paced action and racing sequences, it has lots of beautiful women, and it has REALLY nice cars. For true fanatics, it might be worth it to see the movie for the cars.Anyway, the acting, direction, and cinematography are just about where they are expected to be. Where this movie excells, is its wealth of incredible racing sequences. The best one is probably the one that opens the movie, but the other sequences are entertaining and worth watching as well.As you go to see this movie, do not expect it to be something that its not.
It will not be the next Godfather or anything, so don't expect it to be. If you go in with this attitude, you should exit the theater pleased with the experience. And if not, you probably were not in the target audience, so the movie was not aimed at you.Rating: 4 or 4.5 out of 5 for racing fans.
3.5 or 4 out of 5 for people 16-25
3 out of 5 for most other people
I loved This Movie more then the first one!!!!!!!!!
posted on 05 Jun 2009This movie was the best out of both of them! Everyone is saying this one sucked big time but everyone i know loves this movie! out of all the movies with this kind of thing in it, this one is the best! maybe all of you who say you don't like it was because Vin Diesel isn't in it! If that is the reason then you should know he dose the first one and then that is it! If you talked to a friend of mine he would tell you this one is way better, cooler and faster than the first one! He thinks it is better with out Vin Diesel in it!!! I think he is right about that! It is better with out him in it(cause this time it is NOT about him, it is about Br)!!!!! I hope they make another one!!!! with the same cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

posted on 01 Jun 2009My review for 2 Fast 2 Furious will be short and sweet. I was, once again, wasting my time and my money watching a another installment in the Fast and the Furious series. If Vin Diesel couldn't save the first one, what in the hell makes you think that Tyrese could save this one?!? John Singleton disappointed me the most after making such good films such as Boyz N The Hood and Higher Learning. The sexy Eva Mendes earned the film a star.* out of ****
Smokes the original by a mile
posted on 26 May 2009This sequel is such a huge improvement that you need not have to see the original anymore, or if you didn't see it the first time, don't have to at all. I was expecting this film to be like the original all over again with boring dialogue, dull acting, and different action sequences. But I was quite surprised to discover that this movie was not bad at all, it was I would say, on the level of pretty okay and good. If you have an open mind and view then you will no doubt enjoy this and even laugh at the jokes in the movie. The acting not as stale but the jokes and action make up for it. The peculiar lifestyle within the film comes as expected like a 2 hour eye-candy car show event which still remains silly and outrageous, but hey it's just a movie. I was blown away with some of the intense race action scenes, combined with computer generated sequence for added realism seem believable and convincing. The first action scene I would say is the most exciting. As for the cars, disappointed that they should've used the Nissan Skyline throughout the entire film as the showcase vehicle other than the Mitsubishi. Also shocked that even faster intimidating sports cars weren't displayed to their full potential. Unlike the first film where it was actual 1/4mile street racing, this time around competition is tested in a closed off location, and not in straight-line fashion but circuit racing, reaching a destination point and back. The plot and story both somewhat believable since now we are able to deal with a major player bad guy. And the reason, a major product that let's just say is worth more than a truck-load of stolen DVD players, :D. Overall worth watching to see just the cars. 7/10
The Moose Hole - 2 Fast 2 Furious Review
posted on 24 May 2009When the original The Fast and the Furious opened in theaters back in 2001, it looked to be just another action flick to keep teenagers happy at the movies until the next big hit entered the multiplexes. But The Fast and the Furious became a much bigger then anybody expected, especially its distributor, Universal Pictures. The original film, which cost only $38 million for the studio, ended its run in theaters with over $110 million. The surprise hit of the summer became an even bigger surprise on DVD. The film became one of the largest selling DVDs in the year it was released. So with these results in hand, it was a no brainer for Universal to make a follow up. Unfortunately things didn't go the way Universal would have liked it. Rising-star Vin Diesel, who got his break out role in the original The Fast and the Furious, wanted a much bigger paycheck then Universal was willing to pay. So in the end, he ended up dropping out of the project. After Diesel dropped out, Rob Cohen, director of The Fast and the Furious, also dropped out of the sequel. But since Universal still had Paul Walker, the other star of the original, they decided to go on with the sequel without them. Will the risk pay off for Universal or will this high-octane thrill ride run out of gas?The story goes that street racing is a big thing in the city of Miami. Watching tricked out cars race up and down the street and seeing who crashes and who crosses the finish line is a huge thrill with the people of Southern Florida. One of the big stars of the street racing scene is Brian O'Conner, who last time we saw him was racing out in Los Angles with Vin Diesel as an undercover cop. But since he let the criminal go, he was forced to leave the police department. When he is caught by the police, he is recruited by them to track down a cruel Miami import/export dealer. When O'Conner doesn't like the partner the police team him up with, he recruits an old friend, Roman Pearce, to help him track down the dealer so they can get their records cleaned. The story for 2 Fast 2 Furious is one of the most ridiculous ones pulled out of a movie. It is certainly as worse or even more horrible then the one for the original film. Some elements are ridiculous crafted into the film and some of the chases scenes are set up in a way that are too predictable. The absence of director Rob Cohen is clearly obvious with the sequel. Though the original wasn't a movie masterpiece, Cohen had at least some consistency. This film lacks that very dearly. The characters of 2 Fast 2 Furious are, for the most part, just stereotypes. The rest that are not, don't do a great job acting through this tired script. Paul Walker, who didn't receive too many fabulous comments about his acting, or lack there of, in the original film, doesn't do much better in the follow up but one can see improvement. The only one in the cast that shows some sign of rising acting talent is Tyrese Gibson, who plays O'Conner's ex-con buddy, Roman Pearce. Tyrese brings a lot of well needed humor is this film that is, for the most part, fairly dry. Most of the rest of the cast aren't really worth mentioning. Devon Aoki who plays Suki in the film isn't given much outside of the look badass and hot at the same time argument. She has no important lines and really doesn't do much with her role in the first place. She is basically there just for show. Same goes for Eva Mendes, though her character obviously places a more important role. But on a technical note, her character really doesn't do too much. The rest of the cast, like it was said before, isn't worth mentioning.Overall, 2 Fast 2 Furious is not much of an improvement from the original but did we really expect it to be? Without the badass charm of Vin Diesel and the consistency of Rob Cohen at the helm, the project suffers greatly. The story is tired, dry and too predictable as the film progresses. For what was accomplished in the film, if anything at all, the film could have been wrapped up much quicker then the two hours it ran in. Nothing really stands out to take of big note within the film outside of the rising acting power of Tyrese Gibson. The film focuses too much on the scantily clad babes and the adrenaline powered cars to hear how ridiculous the script actually sounds. When they finish talking their `street lingo', the lines they pop out sound cheesy and dry. But one does have to admit that with all the problems the film suffers from, the racing scenes are very well done. The special effects, as impressive as they are, still look pretty fake, which is pretty obvious. The charm of the original, if that was possible for some, was the realistic racing scenes. Most of those in the sequel are done on computer with only the actors placed in motionless cars against a blue screen in order to add the CGI later on. This was possibly the biggest disappointment of the film with nothing else expected from the sequel. The month of June looks bad enough with four horrible duds opening up next weekend but with a start like 2 Fast 2 Furious, there is only one thing to say: Disney and Pixar should make a real killing with Finding Nemo this month. My Rating: ** out of 5 (Grade: D)

Great Movie! Perfect!
posted on 30 Aug 2009The change of directors meant nothing. From my view, it was as good, if not better than the original. The action scenes were great, and I am with the roll of Paul Walker. He is the best part! He IS Brian O' Connor! Some say they need to drop him if and when (hopefully) they make a third movie. I think they should make a new one, and have Paul in it, along with Luda, Tyrese, Devon Aoki, Vin Diesel, and all the mix of main characters from the first and second one. The only downside is the obvious green screen animation. Make it real guys! Every stunt should be real! Oh well, perfectly fine with me, whoever busts on Paul Walker obviously has no taste in good movies.Tyrese is also good in this movie. The punky performance was a great laugh and fun to watch. Some say it was bad, but I disagree fully. He is awesome, and is not afraid to act like..... well, Tyrese in this movie. He plays the role perfectly.I have seen the movie like 12 times, and own it on UMD for PSP. I look to buy it on DVD soon, just don't have the money. An Overall inspiring performance to viewers (atleast me) and evidently the actors. Paul Walker went out and bought a 2002 Skyline GT-R Vspec II. Sweet!! Paul Walker is a brilliant part to this movie and IS the Fast and the Furious series base. It would be a crime to cut him from the part.It was so inspiring, I am looking to order a Skyline soon. So to those of you who say it was bad, you wouldn't know bad if it smacked you in the face.
