This movie has unquie storyline and also a great plot and best of all it has fantastic animation you've seen movies before but most of them have sketchy animation but not this movie it actually made everything aboustely everything in this movie look so real .The movie is a fantastic family film but I also should be extra credit in for the comedy in this movie . For one thing it is not everyday when you see a animated comedy film about bugs that is .This movie also has a great voice casting such as Kevin Spacey as Flick the engertic and lively ant . Best of all this movie is not a musical Toy Story was kind of a musical movie also Toy Story 2 was but this movie didn't have music THANK YOU PIXAR ! Let me tell you the recpie for a good movie
A pitch of comedy ,a spoonful of good story plot ,and Tsp of animation put all together and you've got the best ever movie . I'm also happy that it's NOT a disney movie if it was I would just burn it ! Any hoo this movie disvere two thumbs way way up !

Pleasant, visually stunning

_A Bug's Life_ is the cheerier, prettier and ultimately more successful of this year's two animated insect films, but it suffers a bit from a dull yet frenetic story that takes no time to let its characters breathe and a script only moderately witty. As others have noted, the closing credits are by far the best part. Too bad the rest of the film is not as sharp and clever. Still, the Disney animated standard of "never less than good" is upheld. I sure would like to see "great" again, though.

a very nice movie. very entertaining

It's rare that a film as entertaining as A Bug's Life comes along. It was one of the most visually spectacular films I've ever seen if not THE most. My only complaint was that Flik's redemption was a lttle unsatisfying.

Amazing Animation!

Pixar Pulls off another one with the excellently created A Bug's Life. I can see now the huge difference in details put in A Bug's Life missing from Antz. While still technichally dazzling, A Bug's Life is a good movie. Not quite so grown-up as Antz, A Bug's Life will still entertain those who are older than most of the theater combined. Stay for the credits, they're actually the funniest part of the movie!

More kids-oriented than Antz

Another Pixar classic, the only things that flaw this movie from a parent's perspective is some potty humor and a scene where a character getting burned to a crisp (but not killed) is considered funny. (Smaller kids may be disturbed by several threatening scenes with the bad guys.) Other than that it's a cute movie with outstanding animation and a nice message about standing up for yourself.

It was a very funny and cute video, I loved it.

the real beginning of something

I saw A BUG'S LIFE after having already become a fan of the other five Pixars, and what struck me about it was the profound sophistication, subtlety, and sheer complexity of the storytelling. It may be the studio's least immediate film, but it grows with time thanks to what amounts to a kind of minimalism. It's less flashy and bombastic that any other cartoon feature I can remember; its dramatic peak arrives with the placement of a rock on the ground. The SEVEN SAMURAI-inspired story couldn't be farther from the Andrew Lloyd Webberish monotony of the trite Disney features that have arrived in the last few years. A BUG'S LIFE dares to be intricate and unsentimental (a welcome characteristic in most of the Pixar features), and it becomes a sweeping epic with some light but cutting humor and a sense of journey that should make repeat viewings a treat even for the parents forced to sit through it over and over. What's more, the voice acting is terrific, with an excellent performance by David Foley and a no-holds-barred, terrifying turn from Kevin Spacey, who is far closer to his SE7EN character than to K-PAX world in this G-rated film. I haven't even mentioned the animation, which in a world of fast-moving technical advancement at this studio and everywhere still looks astounding seven years later. All the Pixar movies are surprising, but A BUG'S LIFE has a creative spark that completely blindsides the viewer. The plotty bits can drag slightly, especially those involving the circus crew, usually far less interesting than the lead character and villain, but no matter. These vivid characters and an absorbing story make for almost peerless entertainment.

While aimed mostly at kids, it's a pretty sweet little film

This isn't a great film, but it does stand above the crowd of the many computer generated films. The quality of the film from start to finish is excellent and as far as insect films go, it's a lot better than ANTZ because it's much more family friendly and endearing. ANTZ was often rather dark in tone and also featured some very inappropriate voices for a kids' film. Whose bright idea was it to have Woody Allen do the main voice in a film where you would be creeped out if you actually saw him in the audience?! Would you let your kids sit next to him during the show? I would hope not, unless your kids are teens and looking to replace Soon-Yi.My overall impression of A BUG'S LIFE is that it is squarely marketed to kids and the studio threw in a few bits and pieces here and there for the parents. As a result, if your kids want to watch it with you, you won't be bored. However, if you don't have kids, I really doubt if there's enough here to merit your watching it--though it still is a lovely and well-made film.

Definitely not going to BUG you...

We love this video. Our 5-year-old can practically recite the dialogue. And, in keeping with Disney tradition, it's a film parents can watch with their kids and not feel like they're losing gray matter every second. Very, very enjoyable. I can't say enough good things about this video.

A hit with kids, and for the kid in you!

Having seen Toy Story, I looked forward to taking my son to this movie and was not disappointed. Disney keeps true to form, giving kids what they want and slipping in a message as well - you can do anything if you put your mind to it and with the support of friends anything is possible. Yes, the outakes were more geared to the adults, but my six year old was just as amused as I was. I have seen "Antz" and feel that this movie was geared more to adults than to kids. Disney has another winner with this one. I intend to buy a copy of this movie!

Just Great!

Worms view into the most amazing frontier. Bugs!! The music, story line, graphics, and the incredible life of and Ant are combined to create one entertaining film. Plenty of One Liners (Jokes) which makes this film one of my truly favorites.

My kid can't get enough of this video!

My 19 month old son simply loves this video. He's always asking to watch it. Personally, I thought it could have been better. My main gripe is that this video costs $24.49 US plus shipping. I bought it at Future Shop for $23 Canadian. If I had bought it through Amazon, it would have cost me $37 US including shipping. That's $52 Canadian! No wonder Amazon's stock is taking a dive.

Pixar does it again!

Pixar delivers more great computer animation! This movie is funny and colorful. There's an all-star cast, just like in the rest of the latest animated movies and they are all doing a great job. Beautiful animation that really comes to life. The real gem in this movie is in the ending titles. Don't miss it!The biggest competition to this movie is "Antz". I prefer "Bug's life" because it's a little lighter, but both films are simply great for kids and adults.

The Super Genius Edition is the one to own

This is the definitive DVD edition of A Bugs Life. The film makers call it "The Super Genius Edition" and I have to agree. They included everything in this two disc edition. Not only do we get both sets of outtakes, but we get Geri's Game (old man playing chess), the trailers (including one for international release), deleted scenes, storyboards, pictures, making of segments and more. It can easily take you 3 hours to go through all the extras on this disc. If you have ever wanted to know how this movie was made, this disc will tell you!

A great movie that serves as a great warning

A Bug's Life offers many things that Toy Story had, such as humor for adults and children alike, great visuals and it brought something new (that I will get to in the next paragraph)to the table. Yet it seems this highly underrated movie inexplicably will always stay in Toy Story's shadow. The story truly is inspired. I love how it serves as a warning about the McCarthey Era, which seems an an overlooked time in our nation's history as this movie is. Flick represents new ideas, inventions, and forward thinking as well as the working man. The ants represent our society and (again) the working man. When communists come to America to take our spoils, Flick (foward thinking) is sent to retrieve people to help them (our local government). When it turns out the government is of no help, Flick is placed in the role of the working man and becomes a vigilante, just as people were putting the matters (and firepower) into their own hands.

excellent movie.interesting characters.relate to real life.

posted on 09 May 2009

the characters are real life characters. One can always relate to the underdog. Now here's a worker looking for ways to improve one's lifestyle and to make it a better world. Standing up for one's rights, and being one's true self. The moral of the story is interesting.More of an adult movie, with it's theme. However the characters are so lifelike, it's wonderful that kids can relate to it.

Delightful

Disney does it again. This movie has it all. Jokes for the kids. Jokes for adults. Randy Newman's music is once again a pleasure. I am anxiously awaiting its release and to own a copy!
