Love is like the wind. You cannot see it but you can always feel it.
It all comes down to who's by your side.
She didn't belong. She was misunderstood. And she would change him forever.
Take a risk. Dare to move. Love is a leap of faith.
There's more to attraction than meets the eye. (UK)
Each spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life. Serious and conservative, Jamie was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn't care. Landon hung with the in-crowd an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado and had no plans, no future and no faith in himself. When a prank goes terribly wrong landing a kid in the hospital, Landon is assigned to tutor a young student on the weekends and participate in the Drama Club's spring play. Clearly in over his head with both assignments, Landon is forced to ask Jamie for help. Soon, against his own expectations and the scorn of his friends, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible.

You're my angel
posted on 31 Aug 2009This movie is so indescribable and unique.I have seen it about a million times and I own the DVD,book, posters, and both soundtracks. I am obsessed! In fact,I am watching it right now.Every time I see this movie, without fail,I cry. Yes...I will admit I am a hopeless romantic and I love to watch these types of movies.But...if there is one thing I hate..its teeny-bop per movies like Mean Girls, and I also hate it when people say AWTR is one. This movie is most certainly not a teen movie. It is a movie for everyone..for the older it gives them something to look back on;for the younger,it gives us something to dream of in the future. Partially..I love this movie because I feel like I am Jamie. And I think it is great to watch a movie that makes you cry and smile all at the same time, and yet come out with such a happy feeling. I recommend this movie for everyone. If you haven't seen it,I will personally lend it to you.
Excellent Love Story
posted on 21 Aug 2009This movie made me cry. It was the romance and love so evidently portrayed that made such a compelling story. Stories of love are hard to believe and bring to the movie screen; it usually works better as a novel. The two leads did an excellent job with their respective characters. It starts out as your typical high school movie which was amusing but done well in that it introduces Landon, who is played by a smoking hot Shane West. Mandy Moore was a perfect Jaime. Her pixie like looks and the self-confidence exuding from her character was appropriate. The love unfolding between the two was convincing and great to watch. The music weaved through out was unobtrusive and used wisely. I appreciated that. I recommend this to anyone in the mood for a love story.
Terrific
posted on 13 Aug 2009This movie was absolutely terrific. It was a lot better than I ever expected it to me. I wasn't sure that Mandy Moore could do both acting and singing but she has shown me she can. Shane West was also wonderful in it.
This movie will make you laugh, cry, but it also inspires you. It inspires you to do what your heart says and to have hope no matter what.
Two teens learn the true meaning of love
posted on 13 Aug 2009Landon Carter has always been with the crowd that constantly gets in trouble and makes fun of others. After Landon saves the life of one of his friends and gets busted by the cops, He is forced to do community service, including the school play. His co-star, Jamie Sullivan, is the pastor's daughter. At first he is afraid of being around her because of his reputation. Then after flyers are made about her in the wrong way, he defends her, leaving his popularity and friends. They start to go out with each other and admit that they both are in love. Then Landon learns the truth; Jamie has leukemia. He tries everything to help her. He finally made Jamie's number one ambition; they both got married in a church. After the summer was over, Jamie dies but remains in Landon's heart. I cry every time I watch it because it's so sad and happy. This, in my opinion, is Mandy Moore's best film ever. She and Shane West do the best job portraying Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter.
First romantic movie I have ever seen is the best romantic movie I have ever seen!
posted on 11 Aug 2009This movie is absolutely wonderful...Im an 18 year old guy and I have never really seen a love story movie, my fave types of movies are usually sci-fi and action movies, Honestly When I first started seeing this movie I didnt know what it was about, I thought it was some cheap teen flick. I actually didnt want to see it, But by the end of the movie I almost started crying. This movie is about one boys quest and one girls quest to discover one of the strongest emotions in life and that emotion is love. This movie is wonderful in so many ways, the story is sooo original, the inclusion of the religous aspect of the movie makes it soo much better and the characters who are polar opposites at the beginning of the movie know by the end of the movie that LOVE negates all opposites and makes everything so much BETTER. I actually felt all the emotions that the charcters felt as when Mandy is the social outcast and West gets rejected by his friends for falling for this social outcast. I realize how cruel the world is when I see this hatred and how West's former friends make their life miserable, yet throughout all this love still survives....I just dont have word to describe this movie....It is an absolute masterpiece....Mandy sings beautifully in this movie and this movie is filled with emotion that anyone can feel...More importantly its a story about ever perservearnt love in the most unlikely of places. The ending is quite a shocker and makes the story more heart warming and sad at the same time. But the love that those two had is certainly praise-worthy to say the least and this movie overall is a masterpiece. A classic movie dealing with the wonderful discovery of true love in the most unlikely form. In a word, WOW. See It, especially with a loved one. Its a perfect movie of love. SUPRAMAXX RATING - 9.5 out of 10
A really nice movie.
posted on 11 Aug 2009This movie is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Both Mandy Moore and Shane West is doing a really great job as the popular boy and the hated girl. It's a love story that made me cry almost through the whole movie. Mandy Moore plays the girl (Jamie) that no one likes, she's very Christian and a kind person. Shane West is Landon Carter, the boy which hangs out with the coolest kids, and after a mistake he have to start in the drama club where he meets Jamie and their relationship starts. I think this is a great movie Cu's it shows that we have to take care of ourselves Cu's anything can happened. And we should not be ashamed over ourselves and take a chance in your life Cu's it might never happened again.
The story surrounded by 2 teen,Landon Carter(West) and Jamie Sullivan(Moore),they unexpectedly falls for one another.

Two souls sharing one body.
posted on 07 Aug 2009What a fabulous film! Screenwriter Karen Janszen does it again. This film affected me emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. But mostly, it affected me romantically. I have never cried more from a film since Terms Of Endearment back in the early eighties. This is an especially moving story for anyone who believes in growing up, learning about life, and falling in love. Actor Shane West gives a wonderful performance that is not only believable but worthy of an award.Actress Mandy Moore is moving, thrilling, and wonderful. She is, without a doubt, the star of the film, the story, and is the heart of the emotions you will feel.Actor Peter Coyote is fantastic. He gives a great performance and is, as always, an asset to the film and one of the best Actors in the business.Actress Darryl Hannah gives a forgettable performance and is just not very good. However, luckily, her part is rather small and she doesnt affect the film. This film is perfect for an evening on the couch. But, I warn you. Bring your favorite blanket, get comfy, and keep the tissues handy.Karen Janszen should be nominated for an academy award for this screenplay and this film should definitely be considered for a Best Movie award. It is a must see! Must own! Film.
A Film to Remember
posted on 05 Aug 2009Now I'll be the first to admit I'm a sucker for romantic movies. I shed a few tears at movies such as "Bridget Jones' Diary" and "My Best Friend's Wedding". But no movie has ever touched me to the degree that this movie did.Mandy Moore as Jamie Sullivan does an excellent job. It's so hard to believe that this is the same Mandy Moore on MTV singing "Candy" (I think that was the name of the song). Wasn't her hair blond back then? Anyway, she did a great job with her role. Shane West as Landon Carter also did a great job in this movie. I haven't seen him in any other movies, but I like what I saw of him in this one, so it looks good. =)Now some people may say the plot is very similar to "She's All That" (i.e., "bad" boy meets "good" girl, being around "good" girl inspires "bad" boy to change, boy and girl end up together). Well, there IS a "bad" boy and a "good" girl and the boy does change from being around the girl, but it is a gradual process.*******MINOR SPOILER******* Yes, the boy and girl DO end up together, but this movie has a twist, so don't assume anything. *****END SPOILER****The soundtrack to this movie is amazing. I bought it the day it came out. "Only Hope" is my favorite song on there. (It's also done very well in the movie). The message this movie conveys is amazing. It shows that you shouldn't take life for granted and that you should live each day to the fullest. Above all, it shows you to have faith, no matter what.As I said before, this movie has touched me more than any other movie ever has. At the start of the second half of it, I was crying. By the end of the movie, I was BAWLING MY EYES OUT. I've cried at movies before, but not to that extent. Yes, this movie had that much of an emotional impact on me. I urge anyone, guy or girl, whether or not you are a hopeless romantic (though it certainly helps to be one), to see this movie. It may not have the same impact on you, but I hope, at least, that it will make you think.I give "A Walk to Remember" a 10/10
Very Good
posted on 26 Jul 2009I thought this movie was really good. I wanted to see it from the beginning. My sister saw it first then took me. I thought the beginning was really confusing cuz the guys were really stupid pushing the girls around and being drunk and stuff. After the first part, the movie started to make sense. Shane west is cute, but to tell the truth, sometimes he looks downright evil. It's a little scary. The movie probably should have been PG-13 because of the language, but it was still really good. I REALLY dont like Mandy Moore, but she acted this movie very well. I think she should stay an actor and stop being a singer. :-) I thought Shane's character was really sweet, and it made me wish all guys were like that. (Yeah, wishful thinking) Overall, I would give the movie a 4 out of 5. GO SEE IT!
Meaningful movie
posted on 26 Jul 2009I saw this not knowing what it was about and hardly a fan of Mandy Moore or Shane West (in fact I didn't know who he was until then). And I was shocked. This movie was wonderful. Sure, it probably didn't have a huge budget and there were many mistakes, but the meaning outweighed it all. I highly recommend it. :) Both Mandy Moore and Shane West did a fanastic job, as well as the rest of the cast.
The Movie i watched again and again!
posted on 26 Jul 2009Usually i am a kinda guy who likes Horror/Thriller/Action/Adventure genres but i took a break from that and watched this movie as my friend told more positives about this movie. It was a big turn around. I liked this movie from start to finish and the fresh treatment and usage of youthful talents in this movie is just amazing. This is one movie i watched again and again! After watching this movie i kept on seeing many romantic movies like "The Notebook" and "Sweet November" and all that. But this movie stood out and it really impressed me so much that whenever i feel like boring i watch at least some scenes from this movie to makeup the boring period. Its a gem of a romantic movie and i highly recommend it to all!
touching movie

Not Another Teen Movie
posted on 20 Jul 2009I don't usually like this type of movie. That is, the teenage romance that tries to have underlying messages about how we all have a soulmate and that these two people are very lucky because they have found each other so early and now if they'd just realize it.The premise is something you would see on Lifetime if you had chosen to stay home instead of going to the theater. In essense, the plot is the same as everything you see on made for TV movies but the plot is not what's so special. Both Mandy Moore and Shane West giving either career best or career making performances. They take the cheap story thrown at them and they develop a chemistry between their different characters that people of all ages can appreciate. I read the book about year after having seen the movie and I still think they did a good job adapting the novel. The movie contains all the needed parts of the book and does not drastically change anything. The humor in the book is tossed out in favor of a more somber and serious tone but that's good because it helps to set it apart from all other teen movies.***/****
A Great Movie
posted on 18 Jul 2009I just rented this movie, I had heard great reviews of it. And I have to agree its great! If this makes any sense at all, its sad but sweet at the same time. I don't know any other way to put it, its just a great movie. The things Landon (Shane West) done for Jamie (Mandy Moore), if anyone ever done anything like that he would have my heart. Its just the best movie ever!
This will always be my favorite movie!

Plot holes so big you don't need a telescope
posted on 12 Jul 2009I've just read about 3 pages of comments and am wondering what movie these viewers were actually watching. The acting was poor, although having seen both West and Moore in other movies I'm willing to bet that bad direction and bad writing were to blame. The plot holes were so big you drive a truck through them. The editing was sloppy and spotty.Jamie's father sounded like the character was based on John Lithgow's character in Footloose."Only Hope" fit the tone of the movie but didn't seem to fit the scene of the play within the movie. It seemed like a lame way of selling a Mandy Moore song (can we say, "product placement"?). And the curtain came down right after that? Plot hole. Truck.
Speaking of automobiles, why was Landon always fixing his car?Part of the movie was sweet and I did cry at the end for the reasons I was supposed to (not just because the movie was so bad or because I was so happy it was over).Usually I adore cheesy movies. Usually these teen movies are a big guilty pleasure for me and even "bad" movies are often entertaining (I found Crossroads enjoyable despite bad acting and writing). A Walk to Remember just left a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up seeing it twice because the video was popped in the evening after I'd seen it.I'd like to read the book to see if it's much better.

Another FAILED Nicholas Sparks Movie!
posted on 31 Aug 2009For those of you who don't know, Nicholas Sparks wrote the book version of this movie. I read the book with my girlfriend a couple of years ago, and we loved it. Nicholas Sparks as an author is one of my favorite authors of today, but when he agrees to let his books be turned into movies, the movies generally suck. Case-in-point: Message in a Bottle (with Kevin Costner and Robin Wright-Penn).Mandy Moore and Shane West are no better at acting than Britney Spears is at writing her own music (or acting for that matter). Compared to the personalities and emotions conveyed in the book, I'd say that these two teenage meatheads never even come close to getting their characters spot-on.If you have an opportunity to see this movie, don't go see it. I saw it by accident on a movie channel and once the movie ended, I called up my TV station and demanded a month of free cable in order to make up for the time I lost to watch this movie. If you want a real drama, read the book by Nicholas Sparks. Movies like A Walk to Remember and Message in a Bottle do nothing but harm the reputation of Sparks as a writer, because each movie based on his books is done horribly.Score: 1 out of 10 (IMDB should allow for negative scores because this would get a -50,000).
