THE BEST BATMAN EVER!

posted on 31 Aug 2009

This is truley the best Batman movie ever. Michael Keaton was good as Batman, but Val Kilmer is much better. Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones were magnificent as the Riddler and Two-Face.

The worst of the series is still okay

Schumacher threw a twist on the Batman series, unfortunately it turned out to be (in my opinion) a mistake. The Dark Knight was replaced by a more fun loving Batman (thumbs down to this move .... if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!!!!). Once again (as in 'Returns') two villians terrorize our favorite hero's city, unfortunately (as in 'Returns') two are TOO many. Jim Carrey does a great job playing a very poorly written Riddler role, and why is Two-Face (more like Joker's brother) even in this ..... he adds nothing (and he's more like One-Face .... always evil and never good). However (the far over due) introduction of Robin into the movie series isn't bad at all, and Chris O'Donnell does a fair job as the Boywonder. Kilmer also does a fair job as Batman, but compared to Keaton, he comes up short (the poor script has a lot to do with this). Although this movie is worst installment of the four Batman movies, it still is an enjoyable movie to watch, and the last shot in the movie maybe my favorite shot from all the movies.

Falls short

This film is somewhat lighter than the first two films, and in some ways it works. We begin to see the campiness of the next sequel, the god-awful "Batman & Robin". Jim Carrey does a decent job portraying the Riddler, but what is up with Two-Face? Out of all the Bat-villians portrayed in films, Tommy Lee Jones does the worst job. He makes his character totally uninteresting. If you want to see Two-Face done right, watch the animated series.

What happened?

I was awestruck by the first batman, and really enjoyed the second. The dark aura/quasi realism of the films, and the mystery of batman was what did it, as well as the fact that the villains had a personality. Then comes batman forever. Hey, let's have two villains instead of one, make everything comicbookish, and destroy all plot consistency.

Isn't twoface supposed to have two sides to his personality? This guy just seemed like any other lets-go-beat-everyone-up hoodlum with a screwed up face. I always pictured riddler as a mysterious puzzle master who seemed to nearly be pulling all the strings of reality itself. This riddler was just a goofball, more like the joker.

And then they decide to destroy the dark, mysterious batman suit and give him an almost robotic one instead. And how about the riddler's fortress that spontaneously came into existence ... maybe if he had had time to prepare it, but that kind of stuff shouldn't just be there the moment someone decides they want to be a villain.

At least it had some good action sequences that prevented the film from being a total waste. I hear Batman and Robin is even worse . At least there are two good ones.

THE BAT IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!

This movie was the best batman movie ever. Val Kilmer proves that he will always remain to be the truly a DarkKnight. His performance was amazing. He blew me away. That should let him return as Batman in part 5. The other cast were good, but didn't show enough of the character to be them. Except Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman, Chris O'Donnell, and the guy who played Alfred. Tommy Lee Jones was not Two-Face he was more like a street punk than a villain. They-Joel shouldhave used Mel Gibson as Harvey Dent. Mel would prove to be a much better twoface. The movie itself was excellent and awesome to look at. I love the batcave, the car, and the gadgets. Vals Bat suit was amazing I loved. It looked like a superhero costume. I loved the special effects and the music. it was the best ever. So buy it. if you are a fan of batman, watch this movie you'll be blown away.

Why do sequels end up going downhill?

posted on 31 Aug 2009

Batman, as played by a different actor, is now joined by Robin and meets enemies in the forms of the Riddler and Two-Face.

Though this film has some genuinely memorable moments and the moral message that revenge can leave the avenger no better off than before it's utterly sunk by its unmemorable villains who are at times more of a comedy double-act than a threat. The Riddler (played by Jim Carey who is playing him in the same fashion as the Mask and a thousand other characters he's played) is no more than a clown and is about as scary as Mickey Mouse. Two-Face is just 'a bloke in a funny suit'. Watchable, but nothing special. Certainly worlds ahead of the abominable trash that forms Part 4 of this series, however.

An insult to Bat - Fans!

The ridler only tells one riddle. Two-face has only one personality. This movie is just a reminder of how superior the FOX cartoon series of "Batman" is to this empty-headed junk. On a daily basis, the cartoon series has ten-times better writing than this overbudgeted drivel.

Expensive nightmare

Friends, this Batman film, in addition to leaving you feeling depressed and extremely overstimulated, is quite badly edited. This becomes important during crucial action scenes, when the cuts happen so fast that they don't reveal what is actually happening. As with all sequels to the first Batman film, this one is burdened with too many characters.

ANOTHER GOOD SEQUAL

some people liked this film others hated it but i think JIM CARREY WAS EXCELLENT AS THE RIDDLER and this sequal whent staght to the action the acting was pretty good this is a favorate

Like the Coat, it keeps me safe whilst im jogging at night!

Well, what can i say, as a big Jim Carrey Fan and a fan of Batman, i have to say that it is the best Batman film out of the 5. Batman+Robin is dull! This one is so funny as it was casted perfectly! Recommend to any batman fan!

Not terrible, but not good.

Since I gave Batman & Robin 1 star, I'd guess I'd have to give this 2. It's better, but that's not saying much. I have a real problem with the characters. TWO-FACE is NOT the Joker with an ON/OFF switch. He's a real complex character with a good/evil side, not a quiet/loud side. I also didn't like the blink-and-you'll-miss-it introduction of why he is. The RIDDLER is NOT the Joker in pajamas. He is a cold, calculating insane genius. Val Kilmer is pretty good as Batman, although I'd like to see Batman portrayed as the brilliant detective he is. Chris O'Donnell. If he was the Jason Todd Robin & not the Dick Grayson Robin, I might have been able to stand him. He's a dull brat with absolutely NO screen presence.

The movie is good, but could use better lighting.

For me, Batman Forever is tied with Batman and Robin as the best batman movie ever. I think Val Kilmer does the best as Batman. He is easily better than Michael Keetan(is that how you spell it?), who looks like he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. Jim Carrey really makes this movie stand out though, esspecially with his hilarous lines. ("Your entrence was good-his was better.") Tommy Lee Jones is good also, but you barely notice because you can only pay attention to Carrey. (You also have to love it when Riddler says: "Has anyone ever told you that you have a SERIOUS IMPULSE CONTROL PROBLEM!?") However, it still suffers from the lack of lighting that Batman 1 and 2 had, although it is a bit better. Robin (Chris o'Donnell) is great too, and I certainly hope he is permanant in the batman movies. All in all, Batman Forever is alot of fun to watch, with lots of great lines.

Great movie, but not as good as Tim Burton's pioneer effort

In my review for Batman and Robin, I stated the fact that this movie was reasonably well done(See my review for Batman and Robin). Tommy Lee Jones' potrayal of Two-face does not correspond with the original character. Nevertheless, he did quite a good job. Val Kilmer at least did a better job as Batman when compared to that of George "Clowney". Chris O'Donnell also did quite a commendable job as Robin, unlike his effort in Batman and Robin. Jim Carrey outshines everybody in his role as "The Riddler", but overdid it a little. Michael Gough's chracter Alfred, was acted very well, as usual. Nicole Kidman's character was however unneccessary. All in all, this movie was enjoyable, but it's just an average movie.

THE BEST BATMAN EVER. BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL

posted on 31 Aug 2009

BATMAN FOREVER was in my opinion the best of all the BATMAN films it has the best effects of all of the films. VAL KILMER did a great job in my opinion as BATMAN so did CHRIS O'DONNEL and TOMMY LEE JONES and espically JIM CARREY. This film really gets to the point of who BATMAN is and why he does what he does. Even the soundtrack is great I would sing the prasises of JOEL SCHUMACHER too if it had'nt been for the next film my advice to watch this one and previous 2 and skip BATMAN 4 and wait until BATMAN 5. So all in all you'll have a blast with this movie I gaurantee it.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!

posted on 31 Aug 2009

I don't know if Burton was on something when he let Schumacher mess around with the story. Hold on, wasn't Burton a producer? Why didn't he exert a little more control over the story? Batman is crazy, but he is not on acid! What was up with all the neon nonsense? Gotham is a dark city. Burton captured it well the first two times. Why did Schumacher feel the need to royally screw up! This is a big disappointment to me because Batman happens to be my favorite hero. Why did Burton agree to Schumacher's ideas? If you're a Batman fan, DON"T WATCH IT! DON'T EVEN REMOTELY THINK TO BUY IT! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

Actually I'd give it 3 1/2 stars.

Batman Forever certainly doesn't measure up to the first two, but Batman fans would agree that this one still is quite good. Val Kilmer is no Michael Keaton but he is still good Batman. Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carey are wonderful additions as Two-face and The Riddler. The new stylized look mixed in with the old dark look makes Gotham look cool. The only flaw probably is Micaheal Keaton's absence as Batman. But as I said Val kimer is good. Also Robin's entrance is put in well.

Don't buy this dvd

Great

Listen up Tim the Enchanter, if the cinematography was so bad how come it got nominated for Best Cinematography at the Oscars? Answer that one! This film did well at the Academy Awards and this movie is very good too. Jim Carrey is outstanding as the Riddler. This is a good film.

Still the Dark Night

Despite what you may have heard, there is absolutely nothing "sunny" about this third installment of Warner Brothers' Batman series. In fact, this film includes one element that fans of the more brooding, gothic version version of Batman have been hoping for-a truly ominous and horrific glimpse of Arkham Asylum. No, Virginia, this is not a Sesame Street version of Gotham City...but it IS highly stylised, perhaps lending it's nightmare vision closer to Blade Runner than to the gritty streets of legends past. It's a great story, somehow bearing more repeat viewings than Tim Burton's films, of which I am a fan. Burton's films are wonderful in that he is always striving for an idea. In the true sense of creative film making, it's very hit-miss. This one hits more than it misses. Here's where it misses: Two-Face- Why do all of Batman's movie villains have to constantly cackle and babble on and on? Two Face was never such a character.

James Gordon- The single most important element in the Batman mythos besides Bats himself is once again a distant afterthought, leaving the Batman a one dimensional entity (Remember, Burton himself did nothing to help this situation-guess Gordon wasn't grotesque enough to make the screen time cut).

Schumacher's obsession with homoeroticism and male body parts. It's amazing how much mileage a director can get out of the penises and rear ends of cartoon characters, or the delight in which he can take in focusing on them.

Despite these flaws, I tend to watch this film time and time again. It has more than enough to reccommend it. Sadly, Schumacher would prove to be the death of the series...but don't let that stop you from enjoying this entry into what was once a very promising screen franchise.

almost the best
