I enjoyed this movie, but I feel as though I missed something. When Angela gets the news about the accident, she tells Dixie (her daughter) that her father's brother is dead. Then when she gets home, she stays with her parents, and apparently its HER brother who has been killed. If Bo's brother was also killed, they didn't show his funeral. If it was Angela's brother who died, why did she say your father's brother. I didn't understand this.

a nice surprise

I am a big Toby Keith fan but have to admit that I didn't have exceedingly high expectations when I went to the premier last week (I've never been overly fond of films that I think of as only show-casing the talents or looks or reputation of a celebrity). I was surprised and happy to be wrong in this instance; I loved the film and felt that it was a solid offering, not only by Toby Keith, but by Kelly Preston and the rest of the cast. The acting was solid and the characters and their relationships were predominantly believable; Burt Reynolds was stellar, especially. The music, too, was a good fit and added to the movie for me. Both my husband (who is not a county music fan) and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and although it definitely is a "chick-flick", I would recommend it to county fans and non-country fans alike.

This is a great family film. Anyone should be proud to add this to their personal DVD library. It is one of those rare films that leaves you wanting to see more at the end, sorry that it's over and wanting to know more about the lives of the interesting characters. The story line is extremely moving and tugs at the heart strings. What a fabulous find - as there is much garbage out there. What great fun it is to share works of art such as this. I crave more films like this one and constantly search them out. Kudos to the creators! Thank you to the cast.FYI - check out Toby Keith's I Love That Bar and Grill restaurant/bar in Bricktown/Oklahoma City. It's a fun place with great atmosphere, serving up terrific food & entertainment.

i love Toby Keith

My family went to the early release on 9/7 at a local Knoxville, TN, theater. I loved the movie and so did my family. We thought Toby and the rest of the cast did a great job. This movie contained an important message that would be beneficial to anyone who has ever made a bad decision which led one down a destructive path in their life. It also shows the importance of mending relationships with your family and friends while you still can. So many times, people believe that they can't change and that no matter what, your loved ones won't forgive your mistakes. This movie shows that you can go back and make amends. People can change. Sometimes it takes a tragedy, which is horrible, but often necessary. I was thoroughly disappointed that there didn't seem to be any print advertisement of the movie. I'm sure that there was a limited amount of money for advertising; but, there was nothing in my newspaper at all. If I did not belong to Toby's fan club, I would not have known that the movie was being released. This movie deserved more advertisement than it received. Great job Toby, from a loyal fan.

An excellent feel-good movie

Had the chance to see an advance showing. Looking for a movie professional reviewers will ooh and ah over? Forget it! There are no real surprises, twists or turns ... no artsy-fartsy foreign director trying to impress the Hollywood types and hoping for some directing award. This movie comes only with some solid actors portraying what could easily happen in real life. Looking for high speed chases or Tom Cruise-like stunts? Don't bother with this film. Just bring your heart if you want to glean anything from this one.Filmed in the real town of Senoia, Georgia, one 'Chicago Sun-Times' reviewer describes the fictional town of Armour Springs as "... one of those Southern towns that exist primarily in the minds of screenwriters". Apparently he's never been south of the Mason-Dixon line and we personally don't care for his type down here anyway. Senoia is only one of many small towns that do exist and have retained remnants of the America that was once innocent ... where kids could be kids and adults acted like adults. The same reviewer seemed impressed with Kelly Preston as giving the only "solid" performance. She did good but she wasn't at the top of her game. If you score her in comparison to the performance of the "rookies" (Toby Keith and Lindsey Haun) Preston wasn't that great. While I loved the movie there are a few disappointments. The character of Anna Maria Horsford should have been expanded. She is an excellent actress and could have been given more exposure. A "situation" involving Dixie (Haun) and some guy seems to be left hanging. The movie could easily have been a television series by expanding both characters and plots within this quiet little town.

A movie of forgiveness and redemption...

I waited for this movie to be released with great anticipation as I own the soundtrack and absolutely love it.

Let me start with my review on the performances. I will start with Lindsay Haun. She was without a doubt the star of the movie. Miss Haun not only puts on an astounding performance as rebellious Dixie but she also can sing so exceptionally well. I look forward to her debut CD and her future movie roles.

Kelly Preston didn't seem as charismatic in this role as she was in many other roles I've seen her play. I loved her in "Sky High" as that is one of my family's favorite movies. However, I will concede that her character wasn't really a role that called for charisma. I do think she did well with what she had to work with.

Burt Reynolds was one of the highlights of this movie. I thought he and Tess Harper were great as always. I loved him playing a grumpy old man that softens towards his grandaughter. Too cute!

Last but definitely not LEAST: TOBY KEITH! Now I know that videos and movies are two utterly completely different things and I have to admit that I enjoy Toby's acting skills in his videos. That said, I do think that Toby did a pretty decent job in this movie, but he didn't seem as relaxed and natural in the movie as he does in his videos. However, he showed that he is a man with the ability to entertain his fans in just about any way he puts his mind to whether it is singing, songwriting or acting, which doesn't really surprise me. He has been given many gifts from the Lord above. I have read that he is working on a script for a new movie based on his song "Beer For My Horses" which I think will be something he will really be able to sink his teeth into. I can't wait to see him in a fight scene. Back to the subject at hand...Toby really is a multi-talented man who I feel did well in his first full-length movie. My favorite part that he was in was when he leaned over to breathe into Kelly's face to prove to her he hadn't been drinking. That was too cute and he was so natural in that scene. (I expected "You Ain't Much Fun" to start playing any moment. ha!) I loved his grin in that scene.

Now for my review on the movie itself. The movie was decent. The movie in itself only deserved 3 stars but I gave it 4 because of the performances by Lindsay, Burt and Toby. I feel like they were the ones who really shined in the movie. The movie was a bit predictable and some of the subplots weren't developed as they should've been. There were a couple places in the movie that you could obviously tell were edited poorly as the movie jumped from one scene to the next and left you wondering how you got from here to there. That said, I was very pleased at the lack of bad language, gratuitous sex scenes and the like. The movie was very clean and for that I am thankful.

So, if you are looking for a clean wholesome movie with a story of forgiveness and redemption...this is your ticket.

All the artists involved in this movie has great pull into the characters they play. Toby is a very believable Bo, Kelly as Angel, Lindsey being the newcomer is excellent. The music is powerful, well written into the storyline. The reason I didn't give this movie a 10 was the missing pieces and the story line ran real fast. No real time given to Bo and Angel to come back together as a couple. If a woman was in the editing room on this film then she must have been a bitter person. A more romantic person should have been involved in the final cut. To bring Bo and Angel back as a couple, reunited from all the pain they both has suffered along with Dixie their daughter. She should have been brought into their relationship more. Lindsey as Dixie, she will go far in the film industry and the music also, if that is what she wants. "Thanks, Toby for putting yourself up for the critic's nasty words because in this case they will be unwarranted. You Did Excellent"

Great Movie

Bo Price's story goes from desolation to family and love thereof - moves at an enertaining pace, every actor in this movie did their job and did it well! Toby Keith's breakout role was exactly what I would expect from this charismatic superstar - terrific! Lindsay Haun, Kelly Preston, and Burt Reynolds all did a great job. Scotty Emerick does a song called "What's Up With That?" - and it's a pleasure to listen to as is the rest of the soundtrack. I think "Broken Bridges" showcases Toby's increible talent (hopefully he will win an Oscar for it).

I'm sorry, but Toby Keith can not act! Don't waste your time with this garbage.

This movie has "Razzie Award Winner" written all over it.

I attended one of the premieres last night and have the following observations: 1. Just because you've directed a ton of music videos DOES NOT make you qualified to make movies. The movie had an overabundance of lingering shots that made no sense, horrible angles, and terrible lighting. The editing didn't help this mess at all. When "Dixie" shows up late for the memorial service her mother remarks about her hand but it's never clear what the heck she's talking about.2. The plot had promise, but the script was thin and full of Ford Truck sized holes. We never get to understand what drives the characters, what's really behind the conflicts they all have with each other or exactly how they resolve them. Sixteen years of distance is wiped out in 4 days seemingly by magic. The deep conversations were marred by stupid clichés. (In fact, the whole town was one big cliché of southern life.) Half the audience groaned when Toby drawled "Ya got my blood runnin through your veins gurl"...and we were treated to that insipid line not once, but TWICE! The revelations were yawn inducing, and the dramatic confessions boiled down to "I was stupid and stubborn".3. The acting was okay considering the wreck of a script they had to work with. Toby was dark and brooding most of the film, but when he smiled and lightened up he was charming. It's a shame he didn't have more screen time like that. Kelly Preston's acting chops are pretty rusty and it shows. Lindsay Haun is talented and it's certainly not her fault the writers made her character so unlikeable in the beginning that you don't blame her father for not coming to look for her. Burt Reynolds and Tess Harper were able to make more of this movie but still looked more or less lost. (And indeed, their characters get lost in this film!) 4. If you're a Toby fan you'll love the songs. But often the movie felt like a scene was forced in just so they could feature one of his songs--or the artists on his record label. For instance, the movie's official love song is "Crash Here Tonight". You'd think that would play around a tender love scene, but nope...we hear about 45 seconds of it as he's heading to a memorial service. It was as if they said "well, we gotta use this song somewhere". The song "Broken" is haunting and the best thing to come out of this movie. In summary...a promising plot never fully develops and the movie is horribly uneven as it forceably tries to be a vehicle for Toby Keith's music and product placement for Ford Trucks. It goes from being about people rebuilding broken bridges to trying to be about the power of music but the story is told so poorly that both points get lost in this overgrown music video. I like Toby and really wanted to like "Broken Bridges" but the people he counted on to make this movie let him down and deserve one of his famous boots you know where.

Great in every way...cast, music, story, heartwarming!

I had purchased the soundtrack first, as well as watching the movie MANY, MANY times on CMT before my DVD arrived. It is addicting, perhaps because it really hits home... a story of real broken bridges that CAN be healed with time and the right effort. I've seen this movie more times already than any other in my lifetime (and I've been watching Sound of Music for YEARS!; it's that good. And I will continue to watch it over and over now that the DVD is "in hand." Toby can be rightfully proud of his movie debut; he performed like the pro he is. The cast meshed very well, and Lindsay ties it all together with "Broken," which is fast becoming one of my all-time favorite songs! Great Job done by ALL!! If you haven't bought this, BUY IT NOW... to quote Toby on the commercial, "You'll love it!" I know I do.

Awesome...Just Simply Awesome!

They don't movies like this anymore...A great family movie!!! Something the whole family can enjoy. Toby Keith gives a stellar performance. I hope there will be a sequel to this "Awesome Movie!"...There's still alot left to tell in this Down to Earth, Real Life, Heart Warming Story. I give the movie two thumbs up...I would give more but I only have two thumbs to give...

Go Toby!

Lindsey Haun

posted on 03 Apr 2009

I didn't think I would like this movie, as it's not the usual genre I enjoy. However, I must say that Lindsey Haun (as the rebellious daughter) stole the show. She turned in a marvelous performance that made this movie worth watching. Even if you don't like country music or feelgood/romance films, you should check this film out for her alone. Her song Broken - although billed as country - is excellent, and could easily cross over into rock/pop charts too.

The song is also available for download at iTunes.

What A GREAT movie!!!!!!!

Wow. Ohkay I have to say if you are only seeing this movie because heart throb Toby Keith is in it, then you are going to be surprised. It has great great great songs in it, and don't get me me wrong I'm as madly in love with Toby Keith as anyone else, but he is a great actor and Lindsey Haun was just Amazing! All in all a very good movie :) I do have to say though , that Toby was looking quite good in this movie! The relationships between the characters was very believable! And I know that had some spelling errors but don't mind that! I definitely believe that this is worthy of getting up and seeing this movie. The album is going to be great!

Broken Bridges is a lesson in life

Truly a great film, even though it was produced on a very strict budget. Worth purchasing for your family collection. This film is true to life - you can really relate to the story. A great film to watch with your teenage children and discuss afterward. Broken bridges need not remain that way - with forgiveness they can be repaired. Get out the tissues, this one will stir even the hardest of hearts. It has all the components to evoke emotion - love, faith, country, and great music. Awesome!

Thanks for the quick shipment! I love this movie and had seen it on tv on several occasions. I wanted my dad to see it and he really liked it as well. I think it is a good movie displaying life challeges as they really are. I love the song the daughter sings! I'm glad that I have the movie! I will watch it for years to come. It is a keeper that I don't mind watching over now and then.
