You know what I am...a lot better than I do.

There is nothing new here. Demon Hunter is a goofy, low-budget flick that wouldn't look out-of-place as a "movie of the week" on the Sci-Fi Channel. hey! It is on this Friday. Unfortunately, it would have to be cut to just an hour after the sex scenes are removed - and that's with commercials! Sean Patrick Flanery (Into the Fire, Kiss the Bride, Simply Irresistible) does a credible job as the demon hunter in a kind of Blade/Constantine remake. He the church's Michael Clayton, who comes in to fix messes when exorcisms go wrong. He is helped by Colleen Porch (All In, Transformers, I Know Who Killed Me), a nun (who kinda looks like Angelina Jolie) who is definitely not cut out for this work.He is fighting one of the evilest looking characters in the movies, Billy Drago (The Hills Have Eyes (2006), Mysterious Skin, The Untouchables), who is trying to create some evil spawn. He is assisted by a knockout, Tania Deighton (Something's Gotta Give), who needs to be in a lot more movies.Lots of skin and some good fighting, but no FX. You've seen it all before.

Too much talking, too much walking.

BLADE meets "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" – BILLY DRAGO stars as a half human/half demon who fights to save the world from a vicious demon bent on forcing possessed women to bear its children.Yawn, it's not exactly the most original type of movie and it easily tries to emulate the styles of recent fanatical television series. It's filled with boring modern rock music, poor dialogue and uninteresting fight scenes which may have just been borderline passable if it were an actual TV series but this movie just didn't move at a good pace. The opening scene whilst not being fantastic may shine some light of hope in your eyes but from then on in you should only stay for the boobs because that's the only thing that caught my eye. The slutty demons were a nice touch... very nice touch. This was too much like a television show and I'm sure the reason why they keep shows like that 45 minutes or shorter is because they're boring in high dosages. To no avail, Demon Hunter becomes very boring, very quickly.Too much talking, too much walking. Fight scenes are just punch for punch and no flashy choreography is apparent. In fact, these fights were probably coordinated by the actors themselves. It's hard to review this movie because I don't watch many television series, if any at all.Hence, I can't take much more of this.

Silly but fun...

"Demon Hunter" is NOT, by any stretch, a great film, but I enjoyed it for some serious action, and a better plot than most of the indie schlock of this genre. The film is actually enhanced by the shameless over-acting. Good thing I wasn't in a mood to take anything seriously...

Simple yet entertaining

Jake (Sean Patrick Flanery), a half-breed demon hunter, struggling with the side he has chosen with the war between heaven and hell. Finds himself facing off against an 'unbound' fallen angel, played by Billy Drago, who seeks to spread his "demon seed" upon the Earth. After watching this movie, I cannot see why others are comparing it to Constantine. Doing so would be like comparing Vampire Hunter D and Van Helsing, they have similar roots but take things from different perspectives.I took this movie at face value and went from there; it is a low budget film with cheesy effects, some gaping holes in the plot, and almost funny fight scenes. But when you look at how many other movies out there have similar story lines, you can see why it would be so hard to stand out in this genre. All in all, it's not a bad "rainy day" type flick; ranks up there with a series pilot that never took off...or like someone posted before, a B-level movie.

Man oh man does this flick suck!!! I've tried to watch this 3x & just cant get thru it. Shame, it sounded good, has a decent cast (poor Sean)actors gotta eat I guess. I will have to say this is light years better than Uwe Bowles BloodRayne>THAT IS THE WORST FILM EVER!!!!!!! Dont waste your time or cash on this flick. Pick up the superb CONSTANTINE instead if your looking for what this movie promised to be!

demon hunting is fun!

Ok, the name kinda sez it all. If you want a fun, sexy, stylish movie thats an enjoyable distraction for a few hours you will like it!

Blade meets Spawn? This was actually not bad.

As low budget horror movies with demons and hunters, this one was pretty good. Sean Patrick Flannery is a half breed and Billy Drago is evil (wow, what a surprise :) ). Evil is as evil does, but Mr Drago, at his 57 years and 86 appearances, still gets to be surrounded by lustful naked women and to lick the skin of helpless girls. The basic story is pretty cliché, with things added up from different stories of the genre: half-demon demon hunter works for the Church. But Sean Patrick Flannery makes a good role and carries the entire movie on his back.Bottom line: this was not a good movie, but as the movies in this category go, this was one of the best. Beats Blade on story and acting, but it is low budget, so no special effects.

Really feels like a T.V. pilot, but ain't bad!

As a movie consumer particularly inclined to this genre and encouraged due to the positive reviews I've read here on the IMDb, I watched this movie and now offer my analysis. I don't entirely disagree with some of the glowing reviews, however it felt like a well produced T.V. pilot rather than a true theatrical release. It was well produced, but it never reached the "theatrical release" quality that I was lead to believe. I'll spell out the particulars...1. The pace seems like it was intentioned to where things stopped for no other reason than it would be a great place to put a commercial break.2. The costumes and "special" makeup, In my opinion seemed easy to recreate as though for a weekly show.Examples: The main bad hotty: stick-on horns and vampire fangs, little leather outfit. The main bad guy: vampire fangs, leather jacket. The main good guy: glowing eyes, occasionally. The main good hotty: nothing until SHE turned bad, then two finger demon hands and ugly face like the vampires on "Buffy".It's not going to win any awards, although it's better than many of the so called theatrical releases I've seen lately. I wish they had made this into a weekly series. I'd have tuned in!

One of the worst

This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. People should be more careful in their movie-ratings. Seems to me that customers who dumped their money on the trash want to make others to do the same mistake.
And you, mr Drago : What the hell you were thinking ?

The succubus made it for me.

The movie starts pretty good. I dug the hot possessed girl. If it was me, I would "play" with her as she suggests to our hero. Anyways, the first scene ends and we face the reality of the movie. The premise is pretty good but in my opinion, it is too late before it gets interesting. I actually got bored. There's a lot of sensuality, hot women (mainly because of the succubus), but little action and horror related scenes. The performances are pretty good for the movie's situations.I catched this movie on cable and I suggest you to do the same thing. I mean, don't spend your money on it. There are Horror elements but not enough to please a Horror fan. Still, it's an interesting story and deserves a chance.

An abomination of cinematography

I only watched it because it was late and there was nothing else on. It's very bad movie. I'm disappointed that Sean Patrick would go from Boondock Saint [ AMAZING ] to demon hunter in a crappy film. Sad day.

Worth watching for Billy Drago's performance alone

Jake Greyman is a demon hunter, a sort of supernatural cleaner, the guy who takes over when the exorcism fails. The film starts out with Jake cleaning up after yet another exorcism gone wrong, the third within a matter of weeks. All of the victims have been young and attractive girls and both Jake and the church are suspicious. There seems to be a new demon at work, one with a definite schedule. Jake teams up with the unorthodox sister Sara and the two learn that the Demon of Lust, Asmodeus, is doing his horny best to impregnate as many hot young girls as he can in order to produce a race of half breed beings who will destroy us all. This is a blatant and watered down rip off of Constantine, but hey, at least Keanu Reeves isn't in it. Sean Patrick Flannery, quite a good actor, does his best here with a corny script and a limp storyline. Angelina Jolie lookalike Colleen Porch isn't too shabby either as the sister with a secret. Tania Deighton as the Succubus is really hot and slinky and she expertly manages not to look embarrassed by her phony looking horns. Billy Drago as Asmodeus really steals the film though. Drago, a great but seriously underrated actor who almost always plays scummy bad guys, is excellent as the fanged and sleazy demon, surrounded by half naked girls and smiling like an alligator. His scenes are the best and most fun, particularly one in which he enthusiastically nails a lovely Asian lady in a crypt. Wow! Seriously sexy hot stuff! The fight scene between Drago and Flannery is well choreographed and is a lot of fun to watch. The special effects are rather lame and the soundtrack is bloody awful, sounding like a bad 80s hair band reunion, but there are enough good and energetic performances in this film to make it halfway decent and raise it slightly above the level of most other direct-to-video crap. Worth seeing at least once, especially if you're a fan of either Flannery or Drago.

TV Series

I thought the movie was good, but I really think that it would be a good TV series like Angel, Buffy, and Charmed. It could be on network TV or the sci-fi network, but to me it would have made a better TV show than it did a movie. And less sex scenes, those are so overrated. But I liked it overall, but to me it felt like I was watching an episode of a TV show and I wanted to know what would happen next with the character Jacob. But it's not as bad as everyone here says it is. I recommend seeing it. You should be your own critic. After watching it, tell me it shouldn't be a TV show. I would most definitely watch it and think others would too.

A PRETTY GOOD (THOUGH SOMEWHAT SHORT I THINK) MOVIE.

I watched this movie today and well I liked it. It's about a man who is half-human/half-demon spawn who goes around killing demons and those humans the demons have posessed when exorcism fails. This is a very intersting topic for me. I have always loved supernatural thrillers. In my opinion this movie bears some resemblance to the "Blade" trilogy of movies as well as the "Dracula 2000" trilogy. "Constantine" and "The Order" (starring Heath Ledger)also come quickly to mind. If you liked any of those movies then I would really suggest giving this movie a try. The acting is good, the story is good and it definitely has a neat atmosphere to it. As far as cheesiness goes I don't think this movie was very cheesy at all. I know another reviewer said that but I disagree. I am giving this movie 5 stars because it is unique and intersting and it covers a subject of great interest to me. (And the fight scenes aren't too shabby either!) Okay now that's my 2 cents worth. Go out and rent this movie already! And write a review after you've seen it. :-) LKP.

I am normally quite easy to please when it comes to Sci-Fi and paranormal movies, if the story is good. The acting in this move is really poor, and the story very thin, perhaps I have seen too many of this kind of movies. The beginning of the movie is actually good, and has a new approach, but after those 5-10 minutes it is down hill. The devils makeup and costumes are, well the best word is funny, there is some gore and that part is all right, but the few animated effect really is out of place, there is some feeble attempts on fighting. But that part too gets weird, and I do not mean the exciting way weird. If you like exorcist movies you get very disappointed, but if you have absolutely nothing to do and want to see Demons possessing people, some bare skin, and the church's weird way of dealing with Demons then go for it.

awful

First of all, Sean Patrick Flanery plays the lead role of this movie, not Billy Drago as it says in the details. This is yet another poorly written horror/action movie from Anchor Bay. Aside from Dead and Breakfast, pretty much every movie they're involved with can be expected to have bad dialogue, bad acting, and usually a few casting miscues. One of the most ridiculous mistakes is the casting of William Basset as Cardinal White. With messy hair, a ridiculous mustache, and a completely disheveled look on his face, Basset looks more like a stereotypical drunk small town sheriff than a high ranking church official. The succubus in the movie is just a woman with devil horns, the supposedly powerful demon Asmodeus looks more like a gay heroin addict, and Flanery is apparently wearing the clothes he stole from the Boondock Saints shoot. The dialogue is absolute crap. When Flanery's character turns down a sexual advance by the possessed girl at the beginning, she actually says, "Now you must die!" The only impressive thing about this movie is the fact that the actors can keep a straight face, although most likely they're wondering how they ended up in such a terrible, terrible movie.

Michael Jackson says it best ..."You know I'm bad.... "

Horrible acting and the dialogs were like they were reading wisdom from fortune cookies, kinda funny sometimes. The movie lacked feeling, was totally stripped of all emotions, even the action scenes were somewhat relaxed. Plot is also very thin, this film goes from A to B to C to D to E and in that order there is a small surprise element but was more a surprisingly absurd rather then anything else.Music was OK.This Story reminded me somewhat of Constantine and Sean Patrick Flanery is in Keanu's role. Except here he is half demon.Excuse my spelling

Decent entry, if not overtly spectacular

"Demon Hunter" is a mildly interesting but overall weak effort.**SPOILERS**Battling demon possessions, Jacob Greyman, (Sean Patrick Flanery) is often sent out to battle the demons who have become more stressful to handle. When an outbreak occurs, he is sent out to stop them. Sent along with Sister Sarah Ryan, (Colleen Porch) they go out to try to find the source of the demonic happenings. After several battles, they realize that Asmodeus, (Billy Drago) has sent an army of demons to impregnate others in an attempt to unleash a race of demon spawns to take over the world, and are soon in a deadly battle to stop their plans from coming to fruition. The Good News: This here is a below-average film overall. One of the few entertaining ideas is that there's some interesting changes around the possession angle. Here, rather than getting a traditional version where one is possessed throughout the film only to get it exorcized at the end, this one decides instead to give several demonic figures in the film, and that gives it a little extra that might be otherwise ignored. It also decides to exclude the tired exorcism scene. The beginning is the only one to feature that, and it is abbreviated, doesn't even show the start and never finishes, which is quite nice since those scenes are really played out and don't really offer anything new. This here also has some pretty good action scenes, most notably it's martial arts scenes. There's two really big fight scenes in this one, and they are both above-average for the style. The main one against the enemy is it's big scene, which is long, interestingly taken between shots and is exciting as well, a nice plus. Some of the gore scenes aren't that bad, as a shot of one with their stomach clawed open and one with the face bitten off provide it's main gory thrills. Otherwise, these are the big pluses in the film. The Bad News: This one here was decent enough with a few nagging problems. One of the main ones is that there's not a whole lot of action going on. The middle segment is largely devoted to it's investigation, and that leaves little happening. The investigation is boring, with the film having absolutely nothing interesting going on since it consists of little more than bringing up wild theories only to be immediately shot down and is soon steered towards talking about him. This is done for everything in that segment, and doesn't do much to keep it interesting. The fact that this one is so short time-wise is another particular stab at the film. This one really could've used more time, since there's a continuous need to press forward, yet the continuous scenes that produce nothing but boredom due to it's predicable and really dull investigation segment. These here are the film's flaws that keep it down. The Final Verdict: Even though it doesn't have a whole lot of flaws, there's still enough wrong with the film that it becomes hardly watchable. Those who enjoy these kinds of films will probably find something worthwhile with this one, while those who really despise them will nothing worthwhile with it.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and Full Nudity

The demons have fangs like vampires, and the face of the surprising last monster is very similar to those in Buffy and Angel. The story seems to be a pilot of a television show and has some good moments. The unknown Tania Deighton is very seductive in the role of Succubus, the greatest attraction of this movie. I saw it with very low expectation, and I surprisingly liked "Demon Hunter". My vote is six.Title (Brazil): Not Available.

Moderately entertaining at best.

Sean Patrick Flanery plays Jake, a half-human / half-demon dude who works for the church by destroying all those demons who walk the Earth. Veteran movie villain Billy Drago is his nemesis, the demon of lust Asmodeus, an oily, seductive, lisping creep. It did begin with an unusual touch: seeing a victim of possession get the stuffing kicked out of her when efforts to exorcise her in the traditional way prove futile. Ultimately, I think that this B-level schlock-fest gives in to mediocrity, although that's certainly not the fault of Flanery or Drago, who make for amusing adversaries. It's basically a combination of horror - yet another in the long line of horror movies to draw inspiration from religion - and action, with a fair number of competent if uninspired fight scenes. It's not lacking in energy, thankfully, and is over pretty quickly. It also has a high sex quotient, and the woman here (Colleen Porch, Tania Deighton, Nancy Yoon) are admittedly very easy on the eyes.Overall, this little picture was a little too disposable for me, although I did at least enjoy the alternative hard-rock soundtrack.5/10
