The twisted minds of two of the six writers of "Scary Movie" tackle the biggest mega-blockbusters of all time in "Epic Movie." The story centers on four not-so-young orphans: one raised by a curator at the Louvre (where an albino assassin lurks), another a refugee from Mexican "libre" wrestling, the third a recent victim of snakes on her plane, and the fourth a "normal" resident of a mutant "X"-community. The hapless quartet visits a chocolate factory, where they stumble into an enchanted wardrobe that transports them to the land of Gnarnia (with a "G"). There they meet a flamboyant pirate captain and earnest students of wizardry - and join forces with, among others, a wise-but-horny lion to defeat the evil White Bitch of Gnarnia.

posted on 28 Aug 2009I saw Epic Movie on opening day with all of my friends. In general I thought that this movie was hilarious and all out fun to watch. Though there are some parts that aren't funny but I would recommend people to see it! The plot was well thought out and the spoofs are genius. Some people say that this movie "sucked" or this movie "rocked!" In my view, I say that this movie "rocked" and I do plan on buying this one on DVD. No Epic Movie is not a blockbuster but it is something you should pay about $6 to enjoy. You will be surprised on how well the impersonations are, the spoofs are, and the stunts are. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! You will leave the theatre laughing.
The worst of all the make fun of movies movie!
posted on 28 Aug 2009Scary Movie 1 was one of the best movies ever! Scary Movie 2 was also good but I didn't enjoy it that much. Scary Movie 3 was okay. And Scary Movie 4 was awesome!Date movie was also okay. But, I thought Epic Movie was better than Scary Movie 3, and Date Movie.Epic Movie is about 4 orphans finding out that they are family. One orphan was starting the movie off with making fun with the DaVnichi Code and Willy Wonka. The second orphan started it out with Nacho Libra and Willy Wonka. The 3rd orphan started it out with Snakes on a Plane, Paris Hilton, and Willy Wonka, and finely the last one started it out with X-men.
Not that bad a movie
posted on 28 Aug 2009Personally i thought this film was rather funny and i think the idea of films like this is to be completely stupid and (sorry if i offend anyone)...retarded! I actually like this kind of humour and although most of the film was boring and lagging, i think the funny bits were actually quite funny, like the parody of pirates of the Caribbean, i thought the actor playing captain Jack was simply brilliant and did such a funny impersonation.In general i don't think this movie should have been slandered quite as much as it has, it all depends on a persons sense of humour, which in my case is paranormal and a little bit twisted.I'm sure there are many people out there who agree with me but also many people who don't, either way i hope most will at least give this film a chance...the parody of "Snakes on a Plane" is particularly funny! Thank You!
Epic Movie, an Epic Disaster
posted on 24 Aug 2009Epic Movie was literally one giant dry heave. Apparently a tasteful comedy was not what the directors had in mind when they smashed all the past year's blockbusters into one, then again, should we expect anymore from the people who directed "Date Movie?". The film lacked direction as well as acting. Cheesy special effects, mixed with terrible one liners and repetitive jokes, made the movie an eyesore; certainly not worth the 7 dollars and fifty cents I had to pay. Most of the movie did not make any sense either. I'm not even going to begin to describe the plot or characters, for fear that my intelligence may drop once more for trying to remember everything terrible within the film.
Brilliant Movie with the most incredible storyline
posted on 22 Aug 2009You should seriously spend your money on this one. I suggest you should get 2 copies in case of one gets destroyed anyhow. I personally put it in my safe because this movie is the most precious thing in my whole life. About the story: the storyline is very thick and definitely not cheesy. Do NOT, I repeat do NOT listen to all the haters around here. This movie WILL cheer up your decade. Because I need ten lines i'm still typing this review. So anyhow Chuck Norris Will Roundhousekick Your Puny ass if you do not buy this movie. I will personally call him on his cellphone to roundhouse kick you in the face and he will do it. I will give this flick 10 out of 10 stars for the brilliant effort of the actors and the excellent casting.

posted on 20 Aug 2009As far as I'm concerned this movie should be rated R. It has way too much sexual suggestiveness and swear words to be PG-13. I took my kids ages 13, 9, and 7 and we could not believe our ears and eyes. I have taken the kids to many PG-13 movies that were totally appropriate. This movie was totally garbage and whoever made it should be ashamed of themselves. Hollywood is turning out some real crap these days. There are enough problems in our world today. Why don't these producers and directors take some responsibility and stop turning out this kind of crap. Too many kids are learning bad behavior and language from today's stupid movies....what a waste of $50.
Another Movie-Movie
posted on 16 Aug 2009Epic Movie? Scary Movie is the only films that are funny, the hell with Date Movie and Epic Movie, seriously this was one of the worst comedies i've ever seen. I can't believe those who voted 10 on it, probably some 12 year old kid. The jokes were bad and it felt like there was no point about this movie, they just wanted to do a parody on new films, i mean who the hell does a parody on "Borat" ?!. And the plot is the worst i've ever seen, the guy who wrote it is missing brains, he made sure that everything should fit in with the parodies, such as "Narnia" "Da Vinci Code" etc, no offense but this couldn't been done any WORSE. A weak 4/10 from me! There is nothing less to say than: The worst movie-movie ever!

posted on 16 Aug 2009The only reason that I rented EPIC MOVIE was because a friend and I are attempting to create our own version of the cult classic show, "Mystery Science Theater 3000" with newer Hollywood films that were heavily panned by critics. So I rented this so that I can make jokes about it. Sometimes it's fun to watch a bad movie, in particular, the films of Ed Wood, Herschell Gordon Lewis, and at times, Roger Corman, just to poke fun at the poor acting and production values.This film is neither funny nor is it easy to lampoon it is that terrible. If you are over the age of 12 and you actually couldn't stop laughing, you need to be committed. If this is Hollywood's idea of a "good comedy," then Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, the Marx Brothers, and Benny Hill must all be spinning in their graves. In all honesty, I would rather watch a 24 hour marathon of the infamous stink-bomb, "MANOS" THE HANDS OF FATE than watch this piece again.Plot? There is no plot! The whole movie is trying to spoof, and failing miserably, all the Hollywood blockbusters that came out within the last 3 years. The spoof are completely unrelated too each other, seriously, what does PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN have to do with X-MEN, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, and NACHO LIBRE, among others? And the jokes are unfunny. There are spoof characters called Harry Beaver & Captain Jack Swallows (sounds like characters in a bad porno). Seriously, who wrote those characters? An 11 year old? And just how old are Jason Freidberg and Aaron Seltzer anyway? Do they actually like their films? I believe we, the disgruntled cinephiles of America should force these guys to watch an Andrei Tarkovsky marathon and see if they can appreciate the true value of STALKER or SOLARIS. If not, make them watch it again. These guys make Uwe Boll look like Billy Wilder.

posted on 16 Aug 2009I was lead to believe that a parody was meant to be a work that mocked other works. Not copying the material almost identically.I endured this movie to see if it was as bad as IMDb community said. Well, yet again, you are right.What can I say that already hasn't been said? This movie insulted my intelligence far too many times for me to remember. The jokes where childish and foul. The plot was scarce, to say the least. And of course, it's one hour of my life I wont ever have back.There seemed to be an abundance of ghetto themed jokes in this movie. And no doubt this will send everyone up in arms when I say, every single ghetto joke has already been done, it's just not funny anymore. It has become a rarity to find a comedy movie that is actually funny, rather than what Hollywood wants you to believe is funny.1/10, because I can't place a vote in negative numbers.

Sounds like it has potential of making your Friday night off a successful one.I went to go watch this movie with the guys and at first I knew that this movie would come up with lame jokes but I was mistaken. At the beginning of the movie you are introduced to the characters which their fortune of being unfortunate accidents led them to one another. The gags they pulled are all 'Oh, yeah I get it' response. One of my friends laughed out of the rest of 4. This movie later gets funnier with the fighting of stunt doubles.I give this movie a 4/10 because it really lacks that HAHA comedy. If you enjoy parodies this movie only revolves around 1 parody. Naria. So, if you are into the Nacho Libre jokes, than this should be a blast!

It spoofs: Pirates of the Caribbean, Superman returns, The DA Vinci Code, Chronicles of Narnia, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory,X-men, Harry potter, Nacho Libre, Snakes on a plane. All were Hilarious. some Funny one liners About Harold & Kumar Go to white Castle American pie "stiflers mom" Its Great all,In good fun but not for everyone. Plenty of gross out humor what the Directors Are Known for. I went for a Good laugh And thats Exactly what i Got. I love it It also spoof some MTV type shows Like Punked Cribs Scarface So inconclusion If You like Gross Humor or the Scary Movie Franchise Go See This Movie If not Pass This up
the worst thing ever created by the human species
posted on 10 Aug 2009I went to see this movie having loved SCARY MOVE, i think that DATE MOVIE is one of those "so bad it's good" movies, so i really love the "spoof film" thing. but seriously, nothing could prepare me for this thing that studios are trying to pass off as a film. there was not a single joke in the film that i haven't seen in any other comedy (bad comedy, too). and the fact that the producers looked at this film and said "Yes!" really means that anyone can make a film because the bar has been lowered so drastically (but is that a good thing or a bad thing?). so if you wish to actually spend your money and see this thing, go ahead but don't say nobody warned you.
Why should they make films like this?
posted on 08 Aug 2009Scary movie was good, and it's sequels were not that bad. But this? This is utter garbage! Now, at least scary movie had decent acting (Anna Faris) but there is not a single actor who can save this film. The jokes are stupid and totally not funny. It sure makes you laugh, but you laugh at how stupid this film is. As usual, this movies like to make fun of good films. Scary movie spoofed great horror films like Friday the 13th, A nightmare on elm street, etc. This one spoofs Charlie and the chocolate factory and some other comedies, but in a sad and extremely boring way. Do yourself a favor and skip this film. A totally worth 1/10.

posted on 06 Aug 2009I cant believe people are going into this movie with hopes of a seeing something like Saving Private Ryan. The movie industry has been bland lately so why not make a movie that gets some laughs. This movie isn't meant to be serious so why get so bent out of shape with the votes? I am anxious to see this movie regardless how many bad reviews it gets. Ya cant really base a movie on bad reviews anymore since most of the voters haven't even seen the movie. I enjoy the Scary Movie films and Epic Movie type films. I also have a college degree OMG Im so dumb now!!! Sometimes we need to just see something pointless and funny at the same time. Do you have to have a certain grade point average to enjoy these type of movies?

posted on 06 Aug 2009I had read everywhere that this movie was awful, complete c**p. Well I still watched it, I guess I had to see to believe, and while expecting a funny parody of recent films I somehow got an even WORSE film than what I was told it was.Apparently the writers of this "thing" suddenly forgot what was actually funny and inserted a bunch of disgusting, unfunny, painful jokes that just induced vomit to the audience. But believe me, anyone who saw those film should get a medal, because to stand the whole picture, for 1 hour 33 minutes, you gotta have guts. Watching it is torture, as simple as that.Probably the worst script ever, and the most stupid and lame acting in years are only some of the millions of flaws that invade Epic Movie and make it easily the worst comedy ever made. Arghhh... an insult to human intelligence and cinema... please don't watch it... I think you are better off renting The Cave actually... I can't believe I just said that...
2 Stars for 2 Laughs
posted on 31 Jul 2009I was looking forward to viewing this film because of its popularity, and other's recommendation. So, i decided to watch it the next weekend. First off, it started with a good hook, and got me slightly involved. Later on in the movie the humor was so lame and the screen play was horrible that i almost stuck my head in my popcorn bucket and went to sleep. The "humor" is Willy wonkas chocolate factory river is made of poo. how funny! Also Willy wonka dancing to "Fergalicious" with his oompa loom-pas is supposed to make my lips turn into a smile. They should have thrown in a "your mom" joke with that. I almost stood up and demanded my money back. The movie is lame and predictable. I had a total of about 2 laughs. If you want to see a funny movie, watch "Borat", or "Wedding Crashers", these movies are actually funny, and good.Epic movie is a movie to avoid spending $8, and approximately 2 hours of your life on.
5 Short Laughs
posted on 29 Jul 2009This movie is just as bad as everyone says it is, but it did make me laugh about 5 short little fleeting laughs in the entire hour of watching it. Where this movie suffers is very weak writing. The story relies upon visual gags that just aren't original or even interesting. The plot is not logical and it serves only as a mechanism to jump from visual parody to parody. Some of the parody scenes just seem to be tossed in as an afterthought. The Superman parody doesn't affect story flow at all and it just isn't funny. The Borat parody is equally pointless. Perhaps the most amazing thing about this movie is that the writers have mocked so many other movies and couldn't find anything to develop into humor.If you liked the Scary Movie series and Date Movie, don't assume Epic Movie comes close to living up. It doesn't. I only gave this three stars to see if I could give it the best review on the site. I can't give it just one star because I did laugh about 5 times. It may not deserve even three stars, but I'll justify it by saying I rounded up to the next highest number.

From the moment of David Carradine's humiliation (his lowest ebb on screen for sure)in a skit on The Da Vinci Code trundles on to screen at the start, you know this will be a train wreck. In my long history of watching films, this is without doubt the worst thing I have witnessed on the big screen. I hear Disaster Movie was pretty awful but 'Fool me once...' and all that, I dodged the bullet of watching it.The whole mindnumbing experience is simply a series of pathetic spoofs of blockbusters, with the merest thread holding the weak storyline together. Basically, there is no point going into what little plot there is as you would need a death wish to watch it after the sound advice on this site. Of course, some of you will watch it to see if it is indeed as bad as people are saying. Trust me - it is. And it's not funny in a 'so bad it's funny' kind of way. This is no Plan 9 From Outer Space! Oh deary me, no. This is a *ahem* 'comedy' which , unless you are stoned out of your mind, drunk to the eyeballs AND under 10 years old, will sit stony faced throughout. In fact, you will likely sit quietly seething, grinding your teeth and clenching your fists.The idiots responsible for this detritus should be imprisoned for crimes against humanity. As for the actors, it will be a stain on their careers for as long as they live, and sadly even longer. If you want more high brow laughs and entertainment, go and poke a dog turd with a stick.
A pretty cheesy movie but not bad

The movie it self is good, it is great how they put so many films into one movie and have it make scense. First things first is I loved Kal Penn in HAROLD and KUMAR but in epic movie he acts a little stupid. For all the fan that liked date movie I strongly recommend this film but for people interested in a reel comedy DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE!!!! Me I love comedy its the spice of life. But when u watch stupid comedy it really not funny.I suggest u wait until it comes out on DVD because its not worth going to movies and paying money to watch. TRUST ME IM A BLOODY MOVIE ADDICT.

posted on 30 Aug 2009This movie is like the funniest movie ever! I just came back from seeing it and even though it was like an hour and thirty minutes it was great. If you want to see a good movie go see this, Im telling you this is a laugh out loud movie. ^_^ Even though this movie does in fact make fun of Narnia, Harry Potter, Xmen, Pirates of the Caribbean and etc. its actuarially really funny and good. I am really a big fan of all these movies but even though they did make fun of it, it was f**** hilarious. But don't go if your one of these people who are so uptight and are upset that their making fun of great movies. Really its just a good funny joke. GO SEE IT YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!! ^_^ 9 OUT OF 10 FOR ME! ^_^
