Fasten your seat belts
Five miles above the earth, an elite team of six men must make an air to air transfer, in order to save 400 lives on board a 747... and 40 million below.
Terrorists take over a 747 bound from Athens to Washington D.C., supposedly to effect the release of their leader. Intelligence expert David Grant suspects another reason and convinces the military that the 'plane should not be allowed to enter U.S. airspace. An assault mission is devised, using a specially equipped 'plane designed for mid-air crew transfers, and Grant finds himself aboard the 747 with a team of military anti-terrorists who have to defuse a bomb and overpower the terrorists.

Wow!!!
posted on 02 May 2009I love Kurt Russel! He is one of my greatest action-heroes. He does action-films witch are so full of action. When i was a little boy, like ten-eleven i saw a movie, "big trouble in little china" and it was so good and i saw it hundreds of times. He has never done a very bad movie too. Executive Decision is one movie full of entertaining and action. It happens things all the time in the movie. You people who gives this movie an 1 at the voting thing....you are crazy. I gave it a 9.
A strong action film
posted on 26 Apr 2009A lot of people I know think this movie is boring but I dont know what they're talking about. I know it runs over two hours but its never dull or boring. Its got tonnes of suspence, action, and interesting characters.
Kurt Russell is good, this time playing more of a nerd in this film as opposed to his usual macho characters. All the other actors in the film are solid making this in all a very enjoyable action film.
"Call the President. It's an executive decision now."
posted on 23 Apr 2009For so many "executive decisions" that were made in this film, the Secretary of Defense can't wait for the President to return his call and makes them himself: the release of the terrorist leader from his London captors, the decision to board the plane in flight with all the inherent risks involved, the decision to divert the flight by Navy fighters before it lands in D.C. In the real world, these should indeed have been made by the President, but his involvement is nowhere seen in this picture. That criticism aside, it's very suspenseful, with surprisingly little action for a Steven Seagal movie. Had he not been killed early on, it's a good bet that you would have seen more shooting and definitely more hand-to-hand fighting scenes. Not having him aboard and his second-in-command badly wounded allowed the other commandos and expert advisors to deal with the matters at hand and it enhanced the suspense generated. How the anti-terrorist squad works out their internal squabbles and accomplishes its mission, with the aid of a brave stewardess, played by Halle Berry, makes for an intriguing ride aboard the not-so-friendly skies. In the tradition of THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY, AIRPORT and AIR FORCE ONE, it turns out to be a well-made thriller with a fine ensemble cast and stirring Jerry Goldsmith score supporting a fine Kurt Russell performance. Docking Stealth Fighters and Horrible Writing
posted on 18 Mar 2009This is a laugher where terrorists take over a 747-400 and a squad of crack anti-terrorist troops sneak aboard, in flight, by having an F-117 Stealth Fighter "dock" with the '47. Stop! PLEASE, make it STOP! This one is actually painful to watch. One of the few redeeming factors is the Steven Segal character gets killed early in the movie (oh, thank you!) so you don't have to listen to Mr. Roboto any more. Halle Berry could be a redeeming factor, but if I want to get a Halle Berry fix I'll watch Monster's Ball. This movie should be classified as hazardous waste.
Kurt Russell's midair masterpiece, so drop Dead Segal.
posted on 18 Jan 2009Soldier's Kurt Russell teams up with Not so tough voice and good martial arts actor Steven Segal in this Mid-air Suspensed action thriller. Kurt is a man working for Military Intelligence who is asked to team up with A Counter terrorist assault team lead by Steven Segal. to secretly get on-board a hijacked jumbo jet which is set on corse to Washington DC. The plane is hijacked by Iraq Terrorists, who on a rescue mission to rescue a Arrested terrorist memeber. They have 3 hours to get on-board and stop the plane from reaching Washington DC. (I'm glad Steven ain't the hero of the movie)
Steven Seagal goes "skydiving"
posted on 18 Jan 2009The initial premise of the movie is simple enough: Arab terrorists are hijacking a plane. Through an elaborate setup that allowed them to sneak guns and explosives onto the plane, the terrorists take charge of a plane that has a senator on board, and the most incredible flight attendants ever (Halle Berry is one of them), in order to get one of their terrorist brethren released from a prison of some sort.
How will the Americans stop the plot? This is where it gets thick.
A Special Ops team led by Steven Seagal is going to fly on a stealth bomber to dock-up with a 747 where a specially designed sleeve, designed by Oliver Platt, who is some sort of genius in this movie, allows the good guys to surprise the bad guys. Seagal's team is joined by a Middle East expert of some kind, Kurt Douglas, whose knowledge in these affairs is essential to the mission for whatever reason.
The movie gives a quick shock to the viewers when, upon entry, the Special Ops team encounters some turbulence. The guy who's supposed to defuse the bomb gets paralyzed, and the best surprise of all, Seagal dies. Yes, it's a major disappointment in some ways because I wanted to see some arms get broken unnecessarily, but it helps the movie along in much more important way: the viewer doesn't have to suffer through Seagal's unbearable acting. Additionally, it's hilarious because he gets chucked from a plane at 30,000 feet.
What ensues is a race to move around the airplane without detection, defusing bombs and disarming terrorists. Will they succeed? Will they accomplish their goals before the President gives authorization to blow the plane filled with nerve agent out of the sky?
It's an exciting enough movie with talented actors, tension, drama, and a mostly believable plot-line. I enjoyed it and I recommend it as a late-night action fix.
The best airborne action film since Airport
posted on 10 Dec 2008I don't watch a lot of "contemporary action" flicks, but this one is really good. To me, its scenario of a jetliner being used as a weapon of terror has an eerie prescience that lends a touch of horror and plausibility that its makers, back in 1996, probably didn't anticipate. Kurt Russell plays Dr. Donald Grant, a think-tanker who, through a series of plot twists, finds himself, along with a technical engineer (Oliver Platt) and a special-forces team (John Leguizamo, Joe Morton, B. D. Wong, Whip Hubley), secretly boarding a 747 that has been hijacked by a fanatic Islamic terrorist (David Suchet) and his band--most of whom don't have a clue about his secret agenda, a nerve-gas bomb whose presence Grant has deduced from his studies of the perp. Their mission: find and disarm the bomb and take down the terrorists before they can slaughter the entire East Coast. With the help of a stewardess (Halle Berry) and a plainclothes air marshal (Richard Riehle), they do both, only to find that the pilots have been killed and Grant, who's never flown anything bigger than a single-engine Cessna, must get the damaged liner down safely. The tension keeps ratcheting up steadily as complications are tossed into the Americans' path: the loss of their leader (Steven Seagal) and much of their equipment, an injured team member (who happens to be its bomb expert), the discovery of failsafes on the bomb and a sleeper agent aboard who can set it off manually, and a flight of combat jets prepared to shoot the plane down. Even after you've viewed it once, you'll still find yourself jamming your foot on the brake in the last few minutes as the crippled liner makes a long terrifying slide through ranks of parked small craft and into an earthen berm. A wild ride and one that any lover of nonstop action should enjoy.
A great way to spend a little more than two hours.
posted on 10 Dec 2008Terrorists hijack a jumbo jet with over 400 passengers. Terrorist expert Dr David Grant (Kurt Russell) believes that the terrorists have nerve gas bombs on board and therefore, they can't let the plane enter US airspace, since the nerve gas could probably destroy the entire Washington DC. And they don't want to shoot them down, since that would lead to a big scandal. Instead, they send up a special military unit, led by Lieutenant Colonel Travis (Steven Seagal), to get on board the jumbo jet and take control over it. This turns out to be even more difficult than they had thought.
This is an action thriller that unfortunately doesn't seem as unrealistic now as it would've done some months ago, and some people would maybe prefer not to watch it because of the recent attacks. On the other hand, it could be interesting to watch because of that. Either way, it's a very good and well made movie. It's not so different from Air Force One and if you liked that one, you'll probably like this one and vice versa.
Steven Seagal's role is actually quite small, he's out of the movie after approximately half an hour, or even less, and you don't miss him. Kurt Russel, Oliver Platt, Halle berry and the other actors are good.
If you like quality action movies, here is one that will keep you at the edge of your seat for a little more than two hours. I really liked it!
Puts Con-Air and Air Force One in the shade
posted on 29 Aug 2008One of the more intelligent militaristic movies of recent years - a great ensemble cast pitched just this side of believable, good special effects and enough tension to keep you wondering how things will play out right till the final reel. If your taste runs to macho posturing, gunplay and bloodletting this is not the film for you. For those who can appreciate it, there's subtle intelligence in the hero (Russell) and the villain (Suchet at his most enigmatic). Although the premise may be a little dated and the climactic episode stretches one's credulity, an absorbing thriller which avoids the excesses of so many 1990s body count specials.
Fun flick saves itself killing Seagal...
posted on 27 Aug 2008I'm sure any die-hard action fan is well aware of Steven Seagal's early death in this film, so I won't mention it again. Kurt Russell plays a CIA analyst a la the Jack Ryan films and he also knows how to fly, which comes in handy at the end, but nevermind. The plot concerns a group of terrorists hijacking an airplane to land in Washington DC and detonate a deadly bomb. Probably not the best choice of viewing after 9-11, but it's pretty exciting and has some good humor. There's plenty of suspense to keep the viewer interested.
Great thriller/action movie
posted on 24 Aug 2008This is a great movie. It kinda reminds u of air force one another great movie. Kurt Russell is a great actor and shows it in this movie. A great storyline and i would recomend this movie to anyone. The R rating is unnecessary though and i think that any person at least 9 and older could watch it. It is only R really because of the one scene w/the suicide bomber and then a few swears here and there. And is somewhat violent but no worse than say The Fast and the Furious, which is another great movie. And theres not really alot of f-bombs-1 or 2. This is once again a great plane movie. Everyone should see this movie.
Underrated and Fun
posted on 09 Aug 2008This is a tight little thriller that you might have missed. Somehow it missed at the box office -- though it didn't bomb -- but this movie manages to create suspense and doesn't drive you crazy with plot inconsistencies. I don't know if it's worth buying, but it's a very enjoyable movie. Just as good as the cameo by Seagal is the supporting turn by the scene-stealing Oliver Platt. END
SILLY!
posted on 24 Jul 2008This is a very silly movie.<SPOILER!> --------------------------Since they were able to climb on board at 35,000 feet, why it did not occur to the fabulous commando team (or to the screenplay writer!) to simply toss the BOMB out of the PLANE?But of course, that would have meant that the movie wouldhave ended after 25 minutes.DUMB! SILLY!Don't waste your time.McQ
i need a lobotomy
posted on 07 Jul 2008another terrorist movie....another waste of video.
the lead terrorist played by xxx is pretty good.....but thats about it.
when the guy is in a neckbrace and trying to explain the bomb?.....is a bomb for the rest of the vid...this movie sucked and if you buy it?.....your taste in movies is rated zero stars.
burn it
All-out flight
posted on 28 Jun 2008It's no wonder in real life airline travel ever winds up like it did in "Executive Decision" For a midair transfer from a modified F-117 stealth fighter to a clumsy Boeing 747 jetliner (in which makes Steven Seagal's appearance short-lived) and Kurt Russel trying to save a plane filled with 400 passengers from a deadly bacteria bomb from entering the United States. The ending of the movie was excellent. Halley Barry who plays a fearless flight attendant helps Kurt to catch his man. Plenty of technological gizmos, and safeguards for the bomb.
Nice and intelligent action movie.
posted on 10 May 2008***Starring: Kurt Russell, Halle Berry, Oliver Platt, and John Leguizamo.Terrorists hijack a commercial jet (I know it's at the wrong time but this is a review) and threaten to kill all its passengers on it. Kurt Russell and a group of stealthy men sneak into the plane and kick some serious terrorist a**. Well...kind of. The movie is very intelligent and is not accompanied by many "hijacking plane movie" flaws which makes it nice and neat.
Entertaining actioner more so than the usual genre fare
posted on 01 May 2008EXECUTIVE DECISION (1996) *** Kurt Russell, Halle Berry, John Leguizamo, Oliver Platt, Joe Morton, David Suchet, Steven Seagal, BD Wong, JT Walsh, Whip Hubley, Len Cariou, Eugene Roche, Marla Maples Trump (film debut) (!)
Better than average on the edge-of-you-seat actioner with Russell spearheading a small group of commandos to dispatch a terrorist siege of an American jet airliner en route to Washington, DC with enough nerve gas to wipe out the eastern seaboard. Some nice tight claustrophobic direction and just the right amount of "Airport" theatrics blurring melodrama and camp!
Shrewd supporting choice by Seagal who should continue this line of thinking in upcoming film roles.

silly as all American movies.
posted on 19 Jun 2009i don't want to put American movie business down here. but the movies in 80's was much more better. the writers didn't write so much craps as they do this days. i didn't watch the whole movie but i have seen the scene when they want to deactivate the bomb. as i know about electronics's more than all producers and the actors on this site i will tell u that u can't measure with ohm meter ANYTHING/NOTHING when is some el. devices under the voltage! that is so stupid. every electrician will tell u that! Second thing: if u have made the be-pass u don't need to cut the wires.Kind regard, Tupaic - that is my last name.
