It's about the music
A real estate developer goes to his 25th high school reunion without his wife, and finds his old teenage band playing. They get him up on stage for a couple of songs, and convince him come to a rehearsal. His wife is outraged that he played. His daughter thinks it's kind of cool. His Mother, in a retirement home, encourages him to enjoy life. He feels some temporary relief from the pressures of business complexities and the stress of marriage tensions. The band gets booked at a popular bar, which leads to a last minute booking to open for a reunion tour, with the possibility of additional tour dates. But the band has internal conflicts. He faces a tough decision to give it a shot even though it will affect his marriage, his family, particularly his daughter, and his business.

I really liked it
posted on 13 Jul 2009This is not a big budget movie, but the director makes it work very well with his budget. The music (soundtrack) that went with it was quite good. The story has been done before - is a simple follow your dreams thing. Character development was surprisingly good, we found ourselves hoping the band would succeed. One of those "what we dream about, but life interferes" things.Heather Locklear's character was not as well developed as a couple of the other roles, actually quite shallow and today, upon considering the character she played, well the character was shallow. Well done.Acting was definitely more than adequate, bordering on good at times. Billy Ray Cyrus was well cast in his role, pulls off the nice guy, wanna be a rock and roll star superbly. And I am definitely not a county music fan.I'll watch it again one of these days. I think if you are a classic rock fan and particularly if you ever had visions of being a professional musician you would enjoy it.

Mid-life musical!
posted on 31 Aug 2009This movie is a male fantasy handled in a tasteful manner. Forty-something George Barron (Billy Ray Cyrus) appears to have it all-successful real estate business; wife, Pamela (Heather Locklear looking lovely in a thankless role), an ideal teenage daughter, and a lovely home in San Diego. George attends a class reunion at his disgruntled wife's suggestion and hooks up with his old high school band. Amazingly they start getting bookings which forces George to examine his career, his marriage and his family life and decide what his priorties really are.
If you are a fan of Billy Ray Cyrus music you will enjoy the covers and the original tunes performed in the movie. The cast is quite good and includes award winning actress Patricia Neal. It really showcases the Southern California lifestyle that makes you long for a beach house and a convertible. This movie will also appeal to fans of Lifetime Channel movies as well.
