Awful Movie
posted on 14 Aug 2009It is a bad sequence for Goal Trilogy. I think since the movie is about the world cup 2006. You can't change the fact of the world cup. I checked the Mexico team in world cup. Actually, they went into the knockout stage. Maybe they wants to show those England stars. This movie is so crappy that not even Beckham came in like last two movies.Footballers are entitled to medical checkup before game. So, Charlie's case should be rare. Adam's problem is more common. Just like Carlos Tevez's case. LOL.When England played with Ecuador, Beckham scored the freekick. You can see the Joe Cole was still on the field instead of being substituted by Charlie.Goal should have only 2 sequences if they are not able to make the third one.
That was bleeding awful!!!!
posted on 12 Aug 2009Goal 1 and 2 may not be as amazing as the greatest footballing film Victory (Escape to Victory in UK) but they clearly capture the passion of the sport. Although number 2 clearly emphasized a bit too much personal drama that detracted from the overall sporting aspect of the film, the football still seemed real. This film spent too much time on drama and the football was, well, great if you wanted to watch World Cup highlights. The Braithwaite and Adams goal looked like something a five year old drew up on an etch-a-sketch. My only hope is that someone at Milkshake reads this and makes a true and fitting conclusion to this franchise. Bring Santi back to UK to play some real football, close the loop with Roz, Let us know what happen to Gavin Harris even if he is "shite". Don't ruin a great run with a a flop like a England loss to Liechtenstein. Avoid this film if you want to preserve your love of this story. Goal -3 cancels out Goal 1+2 equaling 0. Try again and finish in the positives.
even Newcastle United couldn't do anything this bad!
posted on 10 Aug 2009Most of comments are spot-on here unfortunately, it's not a conclusion to a trilogy, it's a p*ss poor movie which happens to have someone from the first 2 movies in it.The thing which riled me was the fact it was set in 2006 and Mike Ashley was in it wearing his Newcastle top, that was painful bad timing. Also, a ridiculous continuity gaff was when Joe Cole was substituted and 2 minutes later England scored, and who should still be on the pitch and join in the celebrations... you guessed it... JC.Avoid at all costs, it's like The Matrix Reloaded after waiting 4 years from The Matrix, or Star Wars Episode 1.... OK, maybe it wasn't with as much eagerness I waited for Goal 3 but I still will never get back those 90 minutes..... shame
Bad filming, poor script and story, too tacky
posted on 02 Aug 2009This franchise has just gone down the crapper. I'm sorry, but Milkshake Productions did all they could to milk this Santiago storyline but it just gets worse and worse.Even though Goal 2 was really tacky and cheesy, it had big names and good soccer scenes and focused on Santiago Munoz. When you watch Goal 3 you're like "WTF?!?". It totally breaks away from Santiago and focuses on 2 other guys (who cares?). You're almost thinking that this Director did not even see the first 2 films. And they went really cheap on the special effects. You could easily tell that the soccer scenes with the 2 main characters for England were not authentic, and did not blend in well. They showed shots from England games w/ Beckham and you could easily tell there was differentiation. I figured they could probably salvage Goal 2 but this one really hit the crapper. It was so bad and offbeat from the 1st two that I had to constantly fast forward through scenes - too cheesy or didn't make sense, or horrible acting, or bad script. So disappointing! Munoz breaks his arm and that's IT! Nothing for him but watching games with a cast?!? WTF? This movie should get a Razzberry for sure!
Worst Football Movie I have seen
posted on 02 Aug 2009The movie is just bad. It might have to be that I am an American, but thought it was just a showcase how England football failure in the world cup. The green screen when the actors who would play with the national team was super cheesy. This movie doesn't even follow the first two except a few characters. The first two I would give a seven they were more center on the characters and soccer scenes were more entertaining. The movie should have been center on finishing up the loose ends of Santiago, but it wasn't. There is nothing much to say. If your an England football fan I would still stay clear of this movie. This movie actually made me mad when watching it that it didn't follow the previous Goal! films. The first movie was called Goal! The Dream begins, but the dream hasn't even concluded yet.
worst goal movie compared to previous series
posted on 27 Jul 2009this movie is awful. the worst in GOAL series. i definitely could fell asleep while watching. there is more on the life story rather than football action.this movie is bored to watch if u want some actions and football.it is more towards boring talking scene. i kinda frustrated with this movie actually. the football match also not as real as it is on GOAL and GOAL II.u can clearly see it is fake and very less real football star featured in this movie unlike previous series. yes u can see beckham in this movie, but the shot is took from real football match, it is not like they hired beckham to take part in the movie. kinda disappointed.
What's going on?
posted on 27 Jul 2009I don't where to start. This movie don't has nothing do to with the GOAL I or II.In the others movies of GOAL, Santigo Munez was the wonderkid who has a different story to tell about life and football. The character of Santigo Munez, just simply gets eliminated of the last movie. Santiago Munez shows up, like a guest character, only appear some time.He plays for real madrid, but the contract expire and become a tottenham player. What the f*ck? Now the wonder kid, plays in a middle table club. Now the mais characters are two englands m8's.They don't win the world cup, butt shows up a story of life. The scenarios in football?was horrible.I don't understand the people who really liked this movie.Simply don't get connection with the original GOAL.4/10 what a disappointment
What a major disappointment..
posted on 23 Jul 2009Sorry but this was a major disappointment in terms of the quality of the first two movies. I'M not a fan of soccer and I have to say that the first two movies were great, maybe in the top 5 sport movies ever made. This one, major flop! It doesn't even tie in with the other ones. For a trilogy to end like this with characters we don't care about, with Munêz not even a major character here is just bad. I mean where's Harris? Where's Fry?, the two new characters here Adams and Braithwaite just pop out of nowhere. And the action is bad.. very bad... Not one scene where you could believe they where really out there playing for real. The first two movies, you actually wondered if they filmed the scenes during the freaking games since they seemed so real! I loved it! I was hoping for the same quality here, didn't get it at all. I'm guessing the money ran out or just a very bad Director in Morahan. Also I guess that Butchart was the real writer here because the story in Goal 3 is lame.. very lame. Jefferies either got rid of this one in a few hours or he's just that bad. There's no soccer issue other than the drinking oh wow.. If you loved the first two, then don't watch this one, you'll be greatly disappointed. They took the soul of the 1 and 2 out. Gave Munêz a backseat and got rid of the rest of the cast. Even his line that lets us know about his relationship was what can be called some of the worst writing ever! Bad choice. We wanted an end to the story arc. They gave us a shitty conclusion to what seemed like a great continuity. Too bad. 1 star..
Awful Awful Awful
posted on 23 Jul 2009don't want to bore you and go into loads of detail but this was a poor excuse for a movie. There are definitely some plants on this page trying to boost the scores and writing false reviews - don't be duped. It was pathetic. I am angry at myself for spending the time to check it out as I liked the first two Goal movies. This one didn't make any sense!Santiago is a bit part player - instead we are treated to a stereotype character overload, the alcoholic, the sleazy agent, the scorned footballers WAG.I would not recommend watching this film.
Absolutely abysmal **(Contains Spoilers)**
posted on 17 Jul 2009Abysmal doesn't do this film justice. The CGI is as bad as anything I've ever seen, the acting is atrocious, and Santiago, who the films were supposedly about, ends up playing a cameo role. However, all this is eclipsed by the most ridiculous plot line I have ever witnessed in a feature film. We are told that Charlie dies as a result of an aneurysm he got in a car crash a few weeks earlier. Absolute bile! I work on a neurosurgery ward and that simply cannot happen. Aneurysm's are not caused by trauma! Someone on the set surely should have done their homework before presenting this in a film. Also when Charlie is fitting in the ambulance, the paramedics rather inexplicably start doing chest compressions!!! If you have half a brain cell, avoid like the plague. Otherwise you might die in 2 weeks from an aneurysm you got whilst watching this film....
good film
posted on 15 Jul 2009what made this film good for me was the fact i was at the premiere with all the england football team including David Beckham which for me was the highlight of the film as he was sitting directly behind me. i was also there with Leo Gregory, Tamer Hassan, Anya(June) and the producer. This is why for me it was amazing. There was some good and funny parts of the film it was well acted and a good story line but some parts for me were a bit far-fetched and some things happened a bit suddenly with out warning but it had a good ending although quite predictable. But its definitely worth a watch even if football isn't something your particularly into. I watch a lot of films and did enjoy it although i didn't think i would.
Trilogy Ruined!!!!
posted on 13 Jul 2009I was utterly disappointed with this movie especially after watching the first two movies which were fantastic.I believe that all those involved in the production of this film do not really care or are the least interested in the game of football. The film did not really portray the excitement, energy and the joy / suffering of the supporters surrounding the World Cup (the greatest football event)!!! This film also leaves many questions unanswered, namely: (i) what happened to Roz and the baby?, (ii) Munez's grandmother, brother, mother and step-brother - disappeared into thin air? and (iii) Did Gavin Harris retire from football?. Moreover Goal 3 has "twists" which are totally unexplainable such as Munez's transfer from Real Madrid to Tottenham. This film is definitely in offside position. Goal 3 - Disallowed!!!!!
A Crime...
posted on 09 Jul 2009Well, I'm a football (soccer) fan since I can remember. Therefore, when I saw Goal! and Goal II, I was pleasantly surprised because I thought those were two good films about my favourite sport. And then, came Goal3...What I loved about the first two films it was the way the filmmakers combined football as the sport and football as a way of life. I flinched every time Kuno Becker kicked a ball (sincerely, he could have trained more) but I liked his character enough to ignore that little thing and enjoy his epic rise to stardom. I really liked characters like Roz, Glen and Gavin Harris because they added depth to the life of the main character. Hell, even Raúl, Beckham, and co. did a good job.The third film simply doesn't have any connections with its "distant and far superior cousins" besides one of the characters. That character was supposed to be the heart of the trilogy but in this last movie he's simply a sidekick to a myriad of new characters of whom I found myself not giving a flying f*ck (pardon me...). Football in this movie gets 15 minutes of screen time and the special effects made me think "Wow, they really wanted this film to suck!". Roz, Gavin, Glen, where were they? The life of Santiago Muñez, how many questions left unanswered?? Even real life footballers had no part in this, it was just footage from the matches of the world cup!OK, it has drama (more über-drama), that made me, to say the least, watch the film until the end, a few nice goals from WC2006 and Swedish girls partying. And... that's it...This film was able to make death-murder-kill to the end of the series, destroying what was good and completely creating awful things. A crime to a series that if done right, could have made football fans all over the world pretty happy and a few euros/pounds/dollars/etc. short...
less than a disappointment, i want my money back
posted on 07 Jul 2009firstly the synopsis that is written on the back of the DVD cover says that our man Santiago Munez is going to battle it out against the two new characters in the world cup. This only ever happens in a mock advertisement at the beginning of the film which leads me to the next thing wrong with the film the VFX.what can i say the green screen i so unbelievably awful it make porn vfx look good.Essentially its the Santiago story arc continued through one of the new characters 'Adams', and Santiago has been made into a second rate character.this film is more a incredibly major disappointment than a 1 star film. By itself as a film its maybe 2 stars
Disappointing...
posted on 05 Jul 2009I managed to watch Goal 3 yesterday. As a die-hard football fan, and the fact that I loved the first Goal, I felt I had to. However, in the end it was a disappointment. This is not to say that the movie was too bad. It was just that, as a fan of the Goal franchise, the movie was a terrible let down. The star of the first two movies, Santiago (Kuno Becker) was reduced to just an extended cameo, and it looked like he has even put on a bit of weight. They very conveniently manage to get him injured in the first half of the film, so that he wouldn't be able to play the world cup. Big mistake. Santiago's is the journey the viewers rooted for. He played in the premiership and then went to Real Madrid. Everyone wanted to watch him play the world cu. But probably the film makers decided that following Mexico at the world cup wont be too exciting. Which is why they got two Englishmen to play the lead this time. They are Charlie Braithwaite and Adams, both who play for Real Madrid, and who are supposedly Santiago's best friends. Which is where the problems start with Goal 3. There is absolutely no continuity from the first two goal movies. These guys are supposed to be Santi's best friends, but where were they till now? What happened to Santi's personal life, with the wife and kid? Only a passing reference is made to this. While focus is spent on the personal lives of the two Englishmen. Another problem with the movie. While I did not like the second Goal too much, as I felt they forsaked a good football plot and tried to hide the flaws by bombarding the watchers with glitzy images of Real Madrid players and stadium, this one seemed to almost relegate the world cup to the background. The biggest problem with the film was probably this. The film crew seems to have just added the existing footage from the last world cup, and with the use of some not so good CGI, merge the actors on the foreground of matches. And Santi seemed to be only intent o supporting England, rather than beat any of Mexico's matches. As I said earlier, not a very bad movie (even the relatively unknown actors do a decent job), but unfortunately, it virtually disowns the Goal franchise and Santiago.
So Bad - I had to Write About it!
posted on 01 Jul 2009After 12 years of viewing IMDb on a very regular basis, this movie is the one that has compelled me to make my first review. I've seen many wonderful films during this time but not one has meant as much as this one to me. This is an atrocious film. Full of stereotypical characters, boring plot, little integration between the actors and real football footage, which was a strength in earlier versions. Furthermore, it doesn't appear to fit in at all with the two earlier parts of this trilogy, as the main character, Santiago is relegated to a supporting role and none of the people around him from the earlier parts have survived. You have a completely pointless set of Geordie fans which I guess were introduced to try and inject some humour to the tired plot. The acting is pitiful, the script is criminal and it was almost so bad, I could have watched it all over again, just to laugh at the total ineptitude. I awarded this film 1 - a first for me and I consider I was being far too generous.
Very Disappointing
posted on 01 Jul 2009I am a big fan of the GOAL movies and I have been looking forward to the final of the trilogy so much so that I had tried researching the date of the movie release in anticipation of the third and final Chapter of Santiago Munez's (Kuno Beker) football careerMovie begins -10min later and in almost utter boredom I continue to watch intently waiting to see what happened to Munez....45min later still nothing and Munez was but a shadow.60min my wife and I are dying of boredom,There is no story line of Santiago Munez except for a few lines that should you not have seen Goal 1 and 2 you would see him as an ordinary character. The story was all about England and two players that we have never heard of from the Previous two GOAL movies. The story line was pathetic the acting was rubbish and even the computer effects were so obvious that it looked fake I probably could have done better with a home camera and some expensive software to edit the clips. What really gets to me is that I had collected the first two in anticipation of completing the trilogy.I guess that will never happen as I honestly wouldn't call this "Goal 3" Honestly whoever wrote the story line lost the plot and really wasted my time and other people's money in this movie, if this movie had made the cinema I would have asked for my money back. Please take this movie off the market and make a proper ending to the trilogy that it so much deserves, and with the original cast members that gave the original 2 Goal movies it's heart and soul
This is incredible
posted on 29 Jun 2009As someone who was a real fan of Goal franchise, I was also interested in seeing the third movie. Before that, though, I've seen some comments here on the IMDb, and didn't quite believe in them, since maybe people's expectations were too high, or they just didn't like football as much as I do in order to love the movie. After I've seen the movie, I'm sure that most of the comments are not true, because this is one of the worst movies ever. Maybe 20 years ago the CGI used in the movie wouldn't be noticed (who are we kidding, they'd still notice it), the storyline is simply ridiculous and improbable, because anyone that knows something about high-level football can tell you that Real Madrid players don't go to Romania to shoot a movie just like that, they don't stay in crappy trailers and they certainly don't have aneurysms that the doctors in their squad don't see, because they are investments, for which they care a lot.If the FIFA/UEFA wanted to show us the world of a football player, after a very good job in first two movies, with this one they've destroyed everything.
goal 4???
posted on 27 Jun 2009this movie was nothing like the other 2 movies. completely different story. santiago only had a small part. and what happened to roz. i mean you could see at the end of goal 2 that she was pregnant. i would think that the would continue with that. at the end of goal 2 they said: to be continued. now if they really want to continue with the story of goal 1 and 2 they are gonna have to shoot goal 4. i don't know if there's gonna be a goal 4. but i certainly hoop so. and i hoop that the will continue with the story of goal 1 and 2 and that it will be a real goal movie including the storyline of the first 2 movies. i tried contacting milkshake films, but i can't reach their website to look for e-mailadresses.

Complete and Utter Crap!!!!
posted on 18 Aug 2009This is one of the worst sports movies I have ever seen. I had extremely high expectations for this movie going in, as the first two were so fantastic. But this one was a bigger disappointment than every sequel to "Saw". Kuno Becker is almost completely cut out of this film. Alessandro Nivola is nowhere to be seen. If you are looking to watch it just to learn more about Santiago, don't bother. His story is completely ignored in this film. The only saving grace (if any) in this film is that it contains football. But even so, the play is horrible and very cheesy throughout. Do not waste your time with this movie. Don't buy it, rent it, or even pirate it online. It is simply not worth your time. On second thought, go ahead and pirate it all you want. Sell copies to your friends. The people in charge of this film do not deserve to make any money off of this god-awful excuse for a movie. As a last note, they should have let Mike Jeffries do the writing on this film. He did a tremendous job on the first two. As for this Piers Ashworth guy, I have never even heard of him. But after this film, I will definitely be keeping my eye out for his name just so I don't have to sit through another disaster like this one.
