Ahhh.. Come on - what is the story with this

posted on 27 Aug 2009

One Home Alone was enough but this is just over doing it. Dont bother lifting the box off the shelf in your video store. It is just a bad re-hash of the first film. Joe Pesci was good again but Daniel Stern was terrific. Tim Curry was also good as the hotel manager. I would give this film 3 out of 10. But just to take a note, it is a lot better than Star Wars.

Pleasant sequel, almost an exact copy of the first

If you liked the first film you will like this sequel. It's as simple as that. Thereis nothing particularly unique about the Home Alone series where a precocious kid (Macaulay Culkin) outsmarts some crooks and subjects them to rather painful cartoon-like violence. If anything, the violence is worse this time round. However, the setting is Christmas which gives the perfect excuse for a family-friendly soundtrack. Culkin is decent though a bit too smart while Joe Pesci brings a lot of energy to his role. This is a pleasant watch specially at home on television/DVD.Overall 6/10

A Sequel that didn't fall flat!

Usually a sequel is never as good as the original, but I really enjoyed watching the bandits stumble a step behind the precocious Kevim! Of course, Kevin's master plan to stay ahead of the crooks is once again, far-fetched for a kid his age with a blueprint, armed with ropes and kerosene (amid such short notice) to thwart every effort of Harry and Marv. Yet, the antics are hysterical like the original, and the story holds your interest from start to finish. Although its quite inconceivable that after the first film that his parents would allow him to get separated from the family again, it had to happen or the sequel would not have been made! Its one of these sequels that is definitely worth sitting through again and laughing just as hard, whether its the gangster yelling "keep the change" or "Merry Christmas- you filthy animal!"

Is it better than the first? Yes!

With Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara and John Heard with Tim Curry Kevin is back, but this time, after he is left on the wrong plane, he ends up in New York, after another fight with his parents. He is left to fend for himself in the Big Apple…but he is prepared. He has his father's credit cards to keep him going, and as he checks into the world famous Plaza Hotel, the movie just gets funnier and funnier. The robbers return, and Kevin picks out one house and booby traps it…and what follows is another whole slew of hilarity as he fools the crooks a second time. But once again, Kevin realizes that a family is a very important thing to have during the holidays, and he hopes to be with the family he loves and hates once more. Very touching and quite funny, you shouldn't miss Home Alone II. I find it much more enjoyable than the original, but you might have a different opinion.

Just as good as the first!

I cant really decide which one I like better this or Home Alone 1. They are both awesome. My 6 year old and 3 year old absolutely love this one and watch it everyday! Sometimes we even spot "Harry and Marv in thier van" when we are out and about. A really fun movie, I highly recommend getting it.

New York.

This is the sequel to the mega-hit 1990 movie Home Alone. I actually think this was one was better because they show the beautiful New York skyline and it seemed more like Christmas in New York. I loved how they showed all the famous areas in New York the World Trade Center FAO Swartz The Plaza Hotel. The only part I didn't like was the getting the bad guys part because I thought it was to violent for a kids movie. I recommend this movie for the Christmas movie.

I like it better in the first!

The movie was a little better then the first but I think it needs more work to it.It is funny when he puts the movie on and said (I Love you). And he saids you have do better then that and they all say (I love you).Hope you liked the movie. Best fan, Nicholas

I looked for this every where.

So Happy I could find this movie! It is a gift for someone who loves it and I couldn't find it anywhere else.

this movie is better than "Home Alone"

i have always liked Home Alone 2 better than Home Alone. Harry and Marv are funnier than ever in this film. Also Macaulay's acting has improved, he's really comfortable in his role now. The setting in New York at christmas is great, this was the movie that made me want to go to New York. There are much more and much better traps. Lowpoint is, it's pretty much identical to the first one. I guess that actually makes this movie rubbish, but it's fun rubbish. The scenes with Kevin and the burglars save it.

BEST HOME AOLNE EVER and a very special movie for the heart.

This sequel actually turns out better than the first and soooooo much better than the third. Kevin again finds himself stranded without his family, but this time he is in New York. With beautiful christmas music, and spectacular visions of holiday surroundings, this movie earns to be my favorite christmas movie of all time. This movie provides extra and a ton more laughs than the first one with awesome performances by TIM CURRY, ROB SHNIEDER, AND DANA IVY. They lighten the movie up to me. But also this movie is special for the heart and soul, when Kevin finds a poor woman to befriend, and love on the streets. This movie goes to prove that: Maybe there is people out there that will give the time, care, and effort to make a difference in some one's life.

Good, but not as good as the first one.....

The Home Alone movies are, and probably forever will be Christmas Classics!

The plot of Home Alone 2 is Kevin (Maculay Culkin) becomes seperated from his family around Christmas time one again. Only this time, he's home alone....in New York City! Apparently, by some confusion at the airport Kevin boards the wrong plane, and instead of going to Miami with his family, he finds himself alone in New York.

Now, a normal 10 year old boy would be scared, and explain to the adults working at the airport that he's borded the wrong plane, and become seperated from his family. However, Kevin is no ordinary boy, especially since he's got his Dad's personal travel bag with his Credit cards and money! To make the situation more interesting, the Wet bandits from the first Home Alone movie (Marv and Hary) have escaped from prison, and they are hiding from the police in.......New York city.

Once you see both of these factors come into play in the movie, you know it's only a matter of time before Kevin crosses paths with Marv, and Harry. When it does, the fun and excitement commences!

I agree with the other reviews that stated this movie has a bit much violence and might not be suitable for the really young audience. I believe I was 10 years old when this movie first came out, but I never seen it at the theatre. My mother rented it, so I was probably 11 whenever I first saw the movie.

Some good things to look for in this movie is the scenes where Kevin is running around New York. Time square, Rockerfeller center, the Plaza Hotel are just a few. The camera shots and angles of certain parts of New York were beautiful, and of course, there is one scene I'm sure that will at least "touch" everyone in some way. I'm talking about the scene where Kevin approaches the Twin Towers, and is left amazed at their size in person. Even better is the next scene where Kevin is on top of the twin towers, and is taking pictures of the view over New York city.

one of my favorite movies of the 90's! and the second best movie from john hughes

Mcauley Culkin's back in Home alone 2 that is even more better than last year.

posted on 13 Feb 2009

If you loved Home Alone your definitely going to love Home Alone 2.It's a bit same as last year but this time i'ts even better. This time Kevin Mcalister's (Macauley Culkins) in New York and he's got even more better tricks than last year.Harry (Joe Pesci)and Marv(Daniel Stern)have escaped prison and are in New York too.Harry and Marv are robbing a toy store this time and get caught by Kevin Mcalister again. ( Kevin takes a picture of Hary and Marv, and runs to his cousin's house where he has set the traps because his cousins have gone on vacation to Paris and is on the balcony and is followed by Harry and Marv)"Pass the camera boy,and we'll leave."says Harry. "Promise".says Kevin."Across my heart and hope to die." (Kevin turns to get a brick but Harry and Marv start to laugh because they think it's the camera)(Kevin throws down the brick and it hits Marv)(Then he throws it again and it hit's Marv again)

It's a little better than the first part

posted on 21 Jan 2009

It still needs a little work but I admire the creativity of the little boy and his braveness. I thought I would never catch my breath from laughing after the little boy kept throwing the bricks from the roof. That was the best part of the movie and when he screamed real loud outside the toy store when he realized who was fixing to kidnap him.

DULL PREDICTABLE, NOTHING NEW

posted on 09 Jan 2009

Mildly entertaining, starring a little brat who has obviously been badly brought up. This film promotes violence, I personally think that making a joke about bricks being chucked at someone's head from a great height is terrible. It is a bad film and unsuitable for kids. However, if easy on the brain mindless empty entertainment is your thing, you could watch worse. P

"Gremlin" (which should be in trivia)

posted on 05 Jan 2009

I may be way off base on this, but when the McAllisters' car pulls into that Miami Seafood Restaurant parking lot in the pouring rain, there appears to be one single vehicle there. It's a AMC Gremlin, one of the compact models from the 70's. I'll bet this was there as a tribute to Chris Columbus's first movie he directed, "Gremlins." Any comments? I was hoping for something new after the first Home Alone, which all my friends begged me to go see, and my reaction to it was "Uhhh, "The 3 Stooges" were funnier and I can watch them for free on TV." (I thought it would have been more realistic and still funny if the bandits were actually menacing.)Altho I fully respect Macauley Culkin, this movie bored me to tears.

Good rehash of the original

posted on 02 Jan 2009

Do Harry and Marv have the best pain tolerance in the world or what??? Ouch! Anyway, this is a good time filler, but it is in no way original. It's just that the action takes place in New York. The same cast is back, and they all do a pretty good job, given the material. But HOW could these crooks survive all these awful booby traps and escape with nary a scratch, even a broken bone? I know you have to sometimes suspend belief while watching movie, but this is too much! Anyway, not a bad film, just not very original and believable. I think the McAllisters just decided to spend all their Christmases at home after this, thank goodness!

Almost as good as the first one though way too long

posted on 25 Dec 2008

After Home Alone's success, writer John Hughes (Uncle Buck) and director Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) joined together once again to make the average sequel Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, which lived up to expectations though didn't match the wit and fun of the original. Though rumors stated that Macaulay Culkin, the "child" star of the first two Home Alones was getting too old to reprise his role, I believe Home Alone 3 changed characters because the audience was getting tired of the same old routine of seeing Culkin outsmart and defeat a group of idiots. I believe the audience wanted something new, which is also why I think they replaced the Wet Bandits with the other four villains as well as Chris Columbus as director. Though armed with a better script, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York does not succeed in being as perfect as the original because you'll keep asking yourself the same question throughout the movie: Haven't we seen this before?

In the sequel, Macaulay Culkin reprises his role as Kevin McAllister, the young boy who beat up two criminals and sent them to jail two years ago. The McCallisters are planning another trip and oh-this-is-unexpected, Kevin once again gets separated from his family. After misleadingly following a man that looked like his father onboard a plane, Kevin finds himself in New York City with his father's cash and credit cards. At the same time, the Wet Bandits who ae the two criminals Kevin put to jail two years ago (Joe Pesci, Goodfellas, and Daniel Stern, Bushwhacked) escape from jail. Kevin once again meets up with them (oh, what a coincidence) and once again it's up to him to stop them before they commit a gigantic toy store robbery. Armed with dozens of booby traps and weapons, Kevin forms a war zone in his uncle's big mansion and wages World War III against the robbers. Let's see, can you figure out who will win this time?

Once again, the movie is way too predictable and many of my Home Alone thoughs are similar of those of Home Alone 2's (Check the bottom portion of my Home Alone review) Though surrounded with an okay cast, Home Alone 2 once again succeeds in entertaining and being a completely thoughtless and childless film.

Movie: Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
Actors/Actresses - Macaulay Culkin, Daniel Stern, Joe Pesci, Catherine O'Hara, John Hears, Tim Curry, Rob Schneider
Director: Chris Columbus
Time: 120 minutes
Rated PG for childish violence and mild language

The McAllisters are at it again and this time Kevin McAllister gets himself lost in one of the biggest cities in the world, New York City.

This movie was surprisingly very good. I have to admit, when I heard there was a second Home Alone, I was worried. I thought that it might be one of those sequels that have no purpose whatsoever. But this movie really works up to the original with the same cast and the same humorous Christmas spirit. The idea of Kevin getting lost again in such a funny and repetitive manner...classic. I really enjoyed Harry and Marv, the two robbers, in this movie a lot and Tim Curry did a very good job as well. Home Alone 2 is a sequel that actually makes sense and is just as good as the first Home Alone and worth watching. Also, it portrays New York City in such a true way. If you want to see New York and the sights, this movie is for you.

Satisfying sequel.

Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York is just as delightful and hilarious as the first one. The whole cast returns including Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern who are still causing trouble but this time on the streets of the Big Apple. Culkin has great comic timing, too bad he had a hard time finding roles after this one. I enjoyed this sequel and mostly I hate sequels, I highly recommend this family film, enjoy!
