Funny but true!

This is one of those movies that makes you laugh and keeps you on the edge, will he or wont he? You have to see it to find out for sure!

This sucked... Anyway, If you're NOT looking for comedy, than it's OK...

I hate dramas. But I don't hate comedies with drama in it. So you got it! This was a drama with Chris Rock in it. I was totally disappointed after 1 hour of watching it, I almost felt asleep. But I watched it till the end. I never thought that Chris Rock would play in such a movie, I mean, I've seen all over the internet info's about that movie like how great it is... and I thought as a comedy, even the tag-line suggests the same thing but I only smiled :) a scene or two. I remember exactly: two. Now I ain't gonna spoil... You might wanna watch the movie. But if you're looking for comedy, don't waste your time with this one.

This movie sucked cause if u go with Ur parents which the kid sitting next to me was, it doesn't turn out to good cause of the cussing, some adult content, the cheap acting which turns out to get a really crappy movie. I think Chris Rock should stick to stand up and not movies, cause he is funny but in this movie no.... So don't waste Ur money watching this movie go waste it on some strippers or a car wash if u have a car. But if you liked the movie that's Ur problem. This movie is as bad as "The Mind Of Mencia" who is the crappiest comedian who ever lived on the planet Earth. I give you my word go watch something like 300 which is still the best movie. Plus the acting is way way way better than this movie which looked like they caught Chris Rock off guard and told him he has to act for this movie

Life Is Made of Choices

The suburban middle class investment banker and family man Richard Cooper (Chris Rock) has been married for eight years with his wife Brenda (Gina Torres) and they have two children. Their marriage is in crisis due to the lack of sex, and Richard is feeling completely bored and dreaming on having sex everywhere with other women. When his sexy single friend Nikki Tru (Kerry Washington) that he has not seen since he was single stumbles in his office in Manhattan asking for a recommendation letter for a job, Chris has lots of fun with her, but he omits her visit to Brenda. Nikki visits Richard on the next afternoons, jeopardizing his position and making Richard rethink about his choices in life."I Think I Love My Wife" is an entertaining movie about a universal situation – the change of the sexual life between couples after years of marriage. Kerry Washington is extremely sexy and is perfect in the role of the smart single girl that uses her friendship seeking for fun. It is very pleasant to see the scenes with this gorgeous actress. Chris Rock plays a silly suburban character that fights for not cheating his wife. However the situations are inconsistent since Richard does not have sex with his wife and has daydreams with women; and when he meets a woman like Nikki he does not have sex with her? Brenda, performed by Gina Torres, is an unpleasant character with her denial of having sex. The moralist conclusion, with Richard and Brenda singing, is simply awful. My vote is six.Title (Brazil): "Acho Que Amo Minha Mulher" ("I Think I Love My Wife")

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

"I'm getting splinters just watching it," quips Richard (Chris Rock) as he and his wife Brenda watch an infomercial video looking at a patio deck. When their marriage becomes mundane and sexless, domesticity leaves him "bored". Brenda is an active mother and a school teacher, and Richard is a formidable player on the corporate Manhattan ladder. Fantasy creeps all over him as he tries to find an outlet to his desires laying dormant in his wife. He meets his friend's old flame, Nikki Tru, who needs and uses Richard for her own interests. Always ambivalent about consummating his fantasy, fellow worker George (Steve Buscemi) gives him food for thought as Richard tries to juggle his longing, his marriage, and his career.

Ponderous, yet philosophical at times, the comical execution is done with maturity--in admirable aspects other than the free flow of f-bombs. Even if after the first two-thirds, the movie takes a necessary, but over long time-out, 'I Think I Love My Wife' is a thoroughly likable movie. (When it does get philosophical, Chris Rock delivers expertly in ways that aren't overdone.) The trailer led me to expect less, but I thought if Chris Rock showed up, it had to be good. At least I was right with my latter instinct. After all is said and done, the movie delivers several satisfying laughs and sage wisdom to boot.

On My Second Viewing!!

I thought this movie was hilarious! I enjoyed watching Kerry Washington as the temptress and Gina Torres truly played her role well. The movie was full of unexpected laughs. The film direction was similar to the way that Chris Rock shoots, "Everybody Hates Chris" and I love that show. I enjoy Chris' brand of humor. What a "Laugh out loud" type of movie!! In addition, I enjoyed the music selections used for this movie. It wasn't the music I would have expected at first, but each song fit perfectly. I loved that song "The Seed 2.0" by The Roots and Cody Chesnutt. It's played during the "car show" scene.

Chris Rock Needs To Stick With Everybody Hates Chris

This movie gets five stars for having fly Kerry Washington and fly Gina Torres in it. Chris Rock was not convincing as a professional worker in a finance company at all. Eva the diva made a cameo appearance in this movie. The ending of this movie could have been better. Chris's character should have had his cake and ate it too. He could have said good bye to Kerry Washington's character like he wanted to and still went home with his wife and enjoyed his wife's company. This movie goes to show that a gullible man would do anything for a fly woman even though he is married. Kerry's character played him the entire movie! If Viagra caused the side effects that it caused in this movie, then I would never use it. Gina Torres' character is a hypocrite. She is against Chris's character cussing, but she cussed like a sailor when he escaped for 5 hours that night.

I think Chris Rock can be very hard-edged and hilarious, but boy oh boy did I make a bad call on this one. He plays a married man with a wife and child and a good job in Manhattan, but finds himself fantasizing about other women. Now, I expected this to be an edgy comedy with Rock spotlighting the daily rigors of married life, but instead I got only sporadic morsels of humor set against a boring story of Chris becoming obsessed with another beautiful woman (Kerry Washington) and straying from his responsibilities as a husband. Washington is drop-dead gorgeous, so at least we can understand his infatuation, but this was a waste of ninety-some-odd minutes of my life that hooked me in with false advertising.

A typical middle class man faces a relatable crisis

I wasn't going to comment until I saw all the negative and I thought unfair comments about this movie. I've always said that movies reviews often show what's going on inside us as much as what's went on on the screen. I for one was at first reluctant to see this movie because I thought Chris Rock's other movie attempts were juvenile. But when I read his announcement that this was his first "adult" movie, I became interested. I appreciated that this was a slice of life movie. I heard a complaint that there was no plot but since when does life present a neatly contrived plot? The movie represented a period out a man's life, a particularly rough patch in his marriage. It was exaggerated where it needed to be for comic effect, which for me, I'm happy to say was very successful, since most attempts at comedy leave me stone faced. In general both my boyfriend and I have discriminating tastes in movies. It's tough to surprise us, please us, make us laugh, while at the same time presenting a realistic life issue that makes one think. This movie did that. It wasn't strictly formula. My suggestion is to not automatically believe the negative reviews. Don't even take my review as gospel. But I think any movie that creates such divergent reactions deserves a look. I would suggest you definitely check it out and decide for yourself.

Excellent comedy

This movie is totally sticking out of the genre. Probably the best appearance of Chris Rock I've seen so far. The story is well written, smart jokes are mastered into details, and the plot is developing fast enough to keep you entertained. Scenes and cast are very well chosen, it's a film of high quality standard. I honestly didn't expect that much of wise entertainment as it offers. And most of all, it feels genuine, not a kind of movie you've seen before and can totally predict. I think I love my wife is an outstanding title which I would recommend to any mature couples or singles. This film wouldn't bore or disappointed you.

Too little, too late

Chris Rock is known for insightful and uproarious social commentary. In this picture, he makes one hackneyed observation -- married people don't have much sex -- and can contribute little else of merit.I asked MY wife to wake me up when the movie got funny or interesting, and if it had not been for a singularly unfunny scene in an ambulance, I might have gotten a decent nap.Everyone has a bad day every now and then; the ending certainly brought a quarter's worth of shine to a table's worth of gloom. But a quarter would be a fair price for a ticket to I Think I Love My Wife. Those who download this movie illegally will have only themselves to blame for wasting bandwidth.

Good Moral But Too Much Foul Language

posted on 15 May 2009

I did like the moral of this movie, which is fidelity in a marriage is a choice. The main male character, Richard, is a good husband and father who is going about his normal life when an old fried (and hot woman) Nikki shows up at his work. She represents the question that all married people have to deal with at some point in marriage: is the grass greener on the other side? Brenda, his wife, isn't having sex with him (and I do feel sorry for him for that), but she is busy and tired at the end of the day (which I can relate to having four kids). So this movie is very realistic in terms of "Could this really happen?"

I don't think anyone goes into a marriage with the idea of cheating on their spouses so Richard isn't looking to be unfaithful, but temptation does arrive and this movie is about his decision to accept it or reject it. If the language hadn't been so foul, I would have given this movie five stars. It's worth watching at least once. Very well done, especially the scene when he is at the crossroads of whether or not to cheat. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 18.

Kerry Washington was smoking hot in her outfits

posted on 29 Apr 2009

The sexy dresses that Kerry Washington wore in this movie were hot. Kerry is so hot in this movie. Her hair looked good. Her body looked good. She got nice looking feet. She's cute. If i was Chris Rock, i would've had sex with her and i would've left Gina Torres to have a relationship with Kerry. There was one scene in the movie when Kerry told Chris that she thinks they would be good together and Chris said it's not about what i want. That's bs Chris. It should be about what kind of woman you want. This movie was very funny. I give props to Chris for his first directorial debut. He did a good job.

I can't remember...........

posted on 22 Apr 2009

I can't remember the last really bad movie I saw before this one. I don't know what else to say about it but that it was utterly boring, not funny, and Chris Rock should be ashamed that he's even associated with it. Chris is a very funny guy and the movie sounded so good in trailers I recently saw. However, this was a great big bust, one so much that I am sorry I wasted a mere $7.50 on the ticket. I was tempted to leave the theater within the first 1/2 hour but was curious to see if maybe by some chance, the movie would take a turn and get better. The ending was even worse with the shrieking voices trying to make funny of a song. DOn't waste your time, energy, or even hard earned money seeing this film. Sorry Chris...really!!

This sometimes funny but uneven film would make a great pre-marital counseling movie!

Richard (Chris Rock) appears to have it all. He is a successful banking executive in New York City, lives in a posh home in the suburbs, and has the proverbial gorgeous wife and two kids. However, when a beautiful female acquaintance from former years crosses his path again, he begins to wonder if he is indeed missing something. Nikki is lovely beyond words and makes a big play for him, promising a supercharged sexual liaison. Richard toys with the idea, because it's true that his sex life at home has waned, what with the ongoing decisions about the children and the wall sconces for the living room. Should he risk an affair? This is an occasionally funny film with very attractive performers. Rock is a talented actor and he makes the most of the script's humorous situations. Just watch him cave into smoking a weed at a party or have a semi-serious encounter with a Viagra pill and you will be very mirthful. The trouble is, of course, that the film's comic moments are not in overabundance. The rest of the cast is very fine, with Steve Buscemi giving a nice little performance as a scummy colleague of Richard's. The two main female leads are colossally beautiful and arresting individuals, adding greatly to the movie's enjoyment. Costumes, sets, and production values are high. Beware, however, of some strong language from time to time, as the F-bomb is tossed around on occasion. All in all, this movie is not without humor or good messages yet can not be declared an outright winner. Nevertheless, it will do for an evening's entertainment or, more importantly, it would make a great counseling tool for those considering marriage in the near future. It's ultimate stance on marital commitment and the perils of infidelity are admirable indeed.

not funny

posted on 03 Apr 2009

Chris Rock's latest movie starts out on a promising note, but looses momentum till it burns itself in the ending. It slides from funny to generally gross and to downright annoying. In its paths there are a lot of racial jokes, sexual innuendos, and a certain way-over-the-top Viagra incident. Because the ending is what the audience remembers most (as it is the last thing they saw), the movie looses whatever goodwill it earned in the beginning. And that's really a shame - this movie could've been so much more. Rock's usual antics are often either funny or disturbing and in this movie they prove to be more of the latter than the former, still he carries the entire picture on his shoulders alone, with the supporting staff getting in his way rather than helping.

Good story spoiled by too much crude language and sexual references.

posted on 02 Apr 2009

Why can't we have "polite" comedies? Here Chris Rock has a good premise, and overall a good story about a married couple becoming boring, and their attempts to work through it. But they somehow feel that pervasive crude language and very explicit, crude talk of sexual relations, including oral sex, just becomes too much. It becomes a substitute for good acting and good dialog. I was watching it with my wife and a female college student and we were often embarrassed by the dialog. My wife's comment, "Good message, poor delivery." Chris Rock is Richard Cooper, successful business man, happily married with 2 cute children. But their sex life has become very stale, perhaps dead, and they seek professional counseling.Along comes old friend, single and sexy Kerry Washington (Jessica Alba look-alike) as Nikki Tru. She teases Richard, finds excuses to see or call him almost every day, and against his better judgment he cannot seem to say "NO" to her. His behavior becomes erratic, he misses an important meeting and the client walks, his boss puts him on probation, all because of his sexual attraction to this woman.SPOILERS. The climax of the story comes when Richard and Nikki arrange to meet, he gets there, he pulls off her thong, but as he looks sideways and sees himself in the mirror, necktie around his head, partially off, he is reminded of his same look at home, playing with his kids, and comes to his senses. He leaves, goes home, he and his wife rekindle their passion for each other.

Should be required viewing for middle class American wives?

The Woman in Red tells you that this is a long term problem for people. The wife no longer wants to have sex
and the man still has his urges. Really successful men with no love or real morals, just ditch the dragging old lady and get a newer model.

That is why you have a lot of older women who really hate men?
Men never seem to grow out of sex; we need a little blue pill for women?
Chris Rock is a comic philosopher like Gene Wilder before him.
In this movie he uses it wisely!

Forbidden Fruit vs the old staple

This is a movie I saw in the video store with my dad and we both together had to pick out a movie and he wasn't interested but alone I wanted to see it. I am glad I watched it. It was the type of situation that MANY MANY people find themselves in. The case of the "emotional affair" which generally can make you feel just as guilty because your mind is focused in another direction. I throughly enjoyed this flick because I understand the concept of the movie fully as well as love Chris Rock. I wasn't sure which girl I was rooting for. Both were beautiful and had positive qualities but I thought he had more chemistry with Nikki and in a movie.....thats what you want to see.....Age old question....happiness or morality and can you be happy and married at the same time???? Marriage has it's ups and downs and this demonstrates that lull that can occur after being married for 7 or 8 years and that you can get yourself out of it with communication and loyalty. I always like Steve Buschemi so I was happy to see him make and appearance. I think this is definately worth watching and I would recommend it highly:):):):)

I love me some Chris Rock but this one just didn't do it for me. I watched this last night and it had its funny moments (like when he is dancing to Laffy Taffy) but nothing to gut busting. I just knew he was gonna get some after he took her out (the viagra scene) but nope. Everyone has already told you what the basics of the movie. It's worth renting but not worth purchasing. I don't know what her issues were with sex but its definately IMO the ending was just WACK!!
