Oh dear... oh dear... oh dear...

I'm not a huge fan of sketch shows. The UK-wide (and who knows, maybe by now even international) appeal of shows like "Little Britain" and "The Fast Show" are largely lost on me, running with one-joke 'characters' and one-liners ad nauseum. The Kevin and Perry characters, originally from the "Harry Enfield and Chums" sketch show, are no exception - basically a one-joke set-up that 'satirises' Bitish teenage boys. And "K&P Go Large" runs with the one-joke concept full steam ahead. This movie can be summarised with a counter - I lost count of exact numbers through boredom, but let's say "8 erect penis gags, 2 puke gags, 3 graphic slices of toilet humour, 5 'house-shaking-orgasms'"... and you'll get an idea of whether or not this movie is worth an hour and a half of your life. For me, it certainly wasn't! Certainly, sex comedies should be left to the Americans, who produce far funnier material in the "American Pie"s and "Porky's" of this world. The only thing to recommend - for fans of dance/trance music - is the reasonable soundtrack. Many users of the message board here associate this movie with "good British humour". Please, please don't take this as gospel - we Brits CAN make good comedies! I just need to go watch one right now, to erase the horrible memory of "K&P Go Large"...

Excellent Film

I can't believe the previous comment, Kevin & Perry Go Large is a fantastic film. Its a great film to watch if you want a good laugh and are a fan of Harry Enfield and Kathy Burkes characters Kevin & Perry. If you love the sketches in the Harry Enfield & Chums television show you will not be disappointed with this film. Its got a superb soundtrack and for all those clubbers who've been to Ibiza and experienced Amnesia its an excellent reminder of how things should be. I would say I've watched this film at least 6 or 7 times. Don't expect to take this film seriously just accept it for what it is - good old-fashioned comedy.

Lot of people missing the point of this movie.

I've read a lot of the comments of this movie and I kind of get the feeling that a lot of people don't really 'get' it. Firstly, if you are not English, this film would be nigh on impossible to enjoy because a lot of the gags, are based around stereotypes you have when you are 15, one being that Ibiza is 'Shag Island'. 2ndly, for anyone who has gone through that stage of being totally crap with girls and being really 'gagging for it' but had no outlet for your frustrations because your too spotty and useless, this film really rings a bell. Yes the gags are obvious, and yes the plot is bordering on drivvel, but this film is very funny, in a toilet humour sort of way, because it really connects to real life growing pains. The soundtrack is the big highlight from the film, and is a classic soundtrack for anyone who 'grew up' in the 90's.Verdict - Aged between 18-30 and live in Britain, and liked dance music (trance), and have a sense of humour, then a must see Anyone else, don't bother, you'll only left wondering 'why is this funny?'

A great feel good summer movie

First of all, if you don't know who Kevin and Perry are, then you've either been hiding in a cupboard for five years, or your American. The brainchildren of Harry Enfield and Kathy Burke, they are a humorous and worryingly realistic portrayals of british teenagers. The film follows Kevin and Perry as they try to go to Ibiza, where they can fill their ambition to score, and also become big name DJs. The whole film is hilarious from start to end, and you wont stop laughing, but only if this is your type of film. If you don't find immature humor funny, and prefer to watch films like Sense and Sensibility, you won't like this film.. but for the rest of us braindead loser kids - you'll love it.Five Stars.

Well, it's different to the TV series

posted on 12 Jan 2009

Contrary to what the IMDB has put the title as, this is a film to watch at the cinema and not on TV. An extremely funny film, though much more sick than the TV series due to its American backing. I gave it 10 out of 10 as Kevin and Perry is very watchable.

A summary of my comments : Yierk !!!

A friend of mine recommended this movie, and I must say, it was horrible! It may be the worst movie I`ve ever seen. I dont´t know, if the original version contains any esprit in the dialogues, but the german version hasn´t. It was worst trash. Yes, the intention of the author and director, obviously was making a trash movie, but not in this way. I think this movie should be a comedy, but i never smiled during watching it. The so-called jokes, were ... No, better no comment. On the other hand, this movie is that extraordinary bad, you should see it - the only place for this movie is the flop 100 list. 1 of 10 are even too much...sorry!

Only appeals to certain audiences

Anyone who grew up in the nineties or early millennium will easily enjoy this. Not quite a great film, but an enjoyable enough storyline, topped off with a lot of funnies and a great soundtrack. Also anyone who didn't grow up in the era of dance/rave music then I would say you are wasting your time watching this film, as the best thing about it is that a lot of teenagers/young adults can relate to it.Lets be honest people in their forties or fifties aren't going to listen to Rave Music and go on a holiday to Ibiza to find some sex, pop pills and attend raves.I would also say anyone who enjoyed the Kevin and Perry sketches in the Harry Enfield programmes should find this interesting also as the film tops any sketch ever featured on the TV programme.

not lookin forward to this 'BUT!

I must admit that i was'nt looking forward to watching this,But to my surprise, I WAS RIGHT,This is probably the most stupid, idiotic load of crap that i've ever seen.If you can stand countless erection joke's(well one joke done a hundred time's )then this is the film for you,All of the joke's are forced upon you(AGAIN&AGAIN&AGAIN).

Piece of crap

This must be one of the worst movies of all time. Just the fact that a woman is playing a horny young man proves how pathetic this movie is. There seems to be no humor in this movie. Luckily I saw this movie on TV, so I didn't waste any money on it.

Worked Very Well

posted on 02 Jan 2008

Considering the TV show sketches stretch to a few minutes the director actually did a very good job in stretching it to over 80m without it becoming boring.A few good cameo appearances from several well known actors on TV and you`ve got a good blend of stupid, watchable entertainment. My only slight niggle was who was the film actually aimed at.My point being the 15 cert, and considering alot of fans are probably below that age. Rating 8/10.

Crap, Crap, Crap

Without a doubt the biggest waste of two hours and admission price I have spent in the past year. I could go down to my local beach to see this sort of drivle. The story was 'flaky', the acting was pathetic and anything else to say would be a waste of my energy.

Substitutes vulgarity and tasteless cum jokes for humour

posted on 03 Dec 2007

This disgraceful attempt at a movie is in line for worst movie of the new century. Any trace of humour is soon wiped out by knob jokes and stuff that makes you cringe and want to fast forward. While these jokes may have worked in betterly constructed American movies such as American Pie, it doesn't in this.In American Pie, there was a much betterly devised plot, better chemistry between the much more likable characters and a storyline that didn't just revolve around a guy sticking his c**k in a pie. Kevin &Perry Go Large has no heart, no backbone, and watching thirtysomethings dress up as teenagers is funny for about a microsecond. This film will ONLY appeal to hormone driven teenagers with no taste in comedy. Give this one a miss. 2.5 out of 10.

A great Movie!!!

At first I have to excuse my very bad English- sorry!!! But now the important part: The Movie is absolutly top!!! I guess, it is no persiflage of anything! It's just a crazy movie, I think!!! I saw it at the last weekend (6 times!!!) and I think, if you like humor like that, you will love that Film! Of course, it's a little bit gross (sometimes)but it's so manic you'll never be bothered by it! Nobody wants to compare "Austin Powers" with "James Bond", so I think you can't compare Kevin&Perry with "American Pie" (by the way- this is much better!)!!! The actors are fantastic! You have to know, that I never heard something about Harry Enfield before!!! This Movie is funny and it touched my heart !!! 10/10!!!!!

just laugh

Dont think, sit down, relax and have a good laugh. Some of the homour is not a good taste but atleast y get something for your money. And if you should start thinking about it, some scenes are happening every day. Its because it is focused on them that make it funny.

Almost worse Date Movie.

posted on 07 Nov 2007

The title is a bald statement on its own, because lets face it, Date Movie is the worst movie ever made. The only thing that makes this movie not worse is who made it. The makers and actors are pretty much nobodies, which shows in the quality of the movie and should also not be compared to low budget directing and acting as heavy. The story is half-way there however the characters are the biggest, as Dr. Phill and Jamie Presley put it, deal breakers. Especially the character of Perry is a major disaster for the movie. English movies and series have a great history of funny sidekicks, for example Baldrick in 'Black Adder'. The sidekicks in English film history ARE funny however. Not only Perry is a horrible character, so is Kevin. The acting by both actors is terrible but especially Harry Enfield brings the worst performance I have recently seen in any movie.Another thing that makes this a bad movie is exaggeration at the end of their 'jokes' which start out grin-worthy but end up suicide-worthy because of an end anti-climax. Think about stuff like exploding pimples that might as well have been represented by whole tubes of toothpaste smashed with a hammer. Of course its funny when you are 11 years old. Some reviewer mentioned that this was funnier than American Pie... Kevin and Perry Go Large is offending to any movie ever made let alone funny movies like American Pie. It is actually sad that youth nowadays have to be entertained by rubbish like this instead of things that are actually based on a sense of humor, but I believe this explains the high percentage of teenage pregnancy in the UK.Overall the story could have been OK, after a lot of changes to the script. The acting and character representation is completely awful and can compare itself to the worst in the business. The music is all right from time to time. The overall feeling of disgust you get for the characters makes nothing worth watching this except for not being blamed of criticising something I haven't seen completely. I don't recommend this, even to the thickest of people.

The best movie ever

posted on 18 Oct 2007

it would have to be one of the best movies i have ever seen, especially on the DVD u get extra features and the "kevin's guide to being a teenager" that would have to be one of the funniest things i have ever seen...."shut your hole Wang Chung"..

Kevin and Perry get laid, but do take rather a long time about it.

I seriously doubt that,at the age of 66,I fall within the audience - range that "Kevin and Perry go large" was intended for. However I am an admirer of Mr H.Enfield and Mr P.Whitehouse and enjoyed "Harry Enfield and friends" and "The Fast Show",precursors of the dreadful "Little Britain".Sacrilegious though it may be I prefer Messrs Enfield and Whitehouse to those appallingly over - rated Pythons and I sincerely hope that they do not fall into the trap Cleese and co. failed to avoid i.e.endlessly re - cycling the same old stuff with only the names changed to protect the Swiss bank accounts. With "K & P" the signs were not good, but seven years down the line it remains the sole attempt by Mr E and Mr W to squeeze a few more bob out of their former TV audiences and I applaud them for their restraint. I am disqualified through reasons of age and culture to comment on the Ibiza music phenomenon, the raising to sainthood of disc jockeys, and the apparent ambition of every teenage boy to become one.I do understand - in the form of a distant memory - the urge to procreate that overcomes one at the age of fifteen to the extent that little else is of any consequence. Thus Kevin and Perry exist in an almost permanent state of priapism, their whole object being to divest themselves of their virginity at the first available opportunity. This can be - indeed is - amusing for five minutes but all too quickly palls. There are some gags that actually improve with repetition but unfortunately "Kevin and Perry go large" doesn't actually have any of them. It does have TV performers like Mr J.Fleet doing their overfamiliar schtick,it has the ridiculously over - rated Mr R.Ifans and that cockney geezer from "Eastenders" who has his chance and loses it . For its intended audience - presumably adolescents obsessed with pimples and sex - it will no doubt hit the spot - if you will pardon the pun; anybody in full possession of all their bodily hair and whom the word "spunk" does not cause to crease up with laughter may not find it to their taste.

Mixed Emotions

At times this can be an incredibly funny film, then again some of the jokes can fail miserably. The 40 year old man Harry Enfield and 35 year old woman Kathy Burke both did excelent jobs playing 15 year old boys, the film though is let down by recurring displays of their enormous erections which are funny the first time and that time only. Don't rush to get it, do though consider it if you are in the mood for a comedy that really doesn't make you think in any size, shape or form.

Funny TV sketch, painfully dragged out to feature length

posted on 26 Sep 2007

This film started promisingly, and for about the first 35 minutes was full of riotously funny humour - but then, it appears that the scriptwriters just ran out of the ideas - So what did they do? They just repeated the same old ones over and over and over again to the point of tedium, where you can see the jokes long before they arrive.A pretty girl walks past Kevin and Perry - and you just wait for one of them to get an erection for the hundredth time - the same joke was done better in Waynes World (schhhhwing!). A few laughs are saved for the last 5 minutes or so, but this just looked like a what would have been funny as a 30 minute TV show, padded and stretched into a movie. In the UK, this film has been rated '15', which is a shame as a sizeable proportion of the audience that would most likely appreciate the schoolboy humour is too young to see it at the cinema - They'll probably catch it on TV sooner or later, which is where this film belongs.

Where are the jokes?

posted on 25 Aug 2007

Embarrassing characters, lame dialogs, no funny jokes. A waste of time. The only interesting thing was the appearance of the characters. They played 15 year old teenagers but appeared rather old and a little bit feminine (at least Perry) at the same time . That puzzled me and kept me watching. After looking at the cast here in IMDb now I do understand. The actors were near to the forties, when they made the film. And why a middle-aged woman must play a teenage boy will remain the producer'secret. I do not know the Mr. Enfield's TV show. Therefore I can not give him a bonus for this movie. 'Kevin & Perry Go Large' is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
