Not a bad little movie
posted on 15 Aug 2009Yes, it's not Oscar material, nor is it the worst movie in the world. What it is is a charming boy meets girl, loses girl, then finds her again movie. I'm a 39-year old *NSYNC and Lance Bass fan. I'm being honest when I say that it didn't suck, but it didn't bowl me over either. Despite it's lousy box office take, I think both Lance and Joey Fatone will continue, and should continue, to work on their acting skills. I think, given plenty of time, Lance could be a great romantic leading man. He went into this project saying he wasn't an actor, and while he wasn't awful, he has long way to go. Joey does an adequate job in his role. Keep it up guys; you'll hit the mark at some point, if you really want to. :)
Seriously...it doesn't suck!
posted on 09 Aug 2009Okay, so I was not a fan of nsync when I saw this movie, my best friend made me go. But I was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to forget that these guys live day to day in popstar-dom. Lance was very believable this sweet, bumbling guy, who kind of reminded me of Winnie the Pooh! But Joey's the one who really made the movie. He had great comic timing, and was really just hysterical. If you're one of those people who thinks we should have more movies that are just plain fun, then this is definately a good choice. I loved it!!
Better than I thought
posted on 28 May 2009When I first heard of this movie being made, I thought, "O-kay, now *NSync is doing movies? It will probably suck! Why don't they just stick to singing?" We've all seen movies like this- singers trying to crossover into acting, and most of the time the movie flops. But this movie was different- it was actually good. The acting was great, the comedy was excellent, and I found myself shouting out, "Get the girl's number or something!" at the key moment in the beginning. I wish more people would give this movie a chance. People might think this movie is geared for preteen girls because it does star two members of *NSync-but I think more guys would relate to this movie- I know I sure did.
Get over Nsync and give this movie a shot!
posted on 15 May 2009I will start by saying that I am an Nsync fan, that is the reason I decided to see this movie. However I did take a friend with me though that is a hard core metal fan, and he liked this movie! It is wholesome and sweet! In an age where movies are only popular if they have sex and violance it is refreshing to see good movies being made. This movie is suitable for all ages, and contains simple feelings about love we all go through at some point in our lives. If you like romantic comidies, or need a great date movie give "On The Line a shot". Get over the Nsync aspect because only two of the five are in the movie, and for first time actors they did a great job! Check On The Line out today!
Oh my word
posted on 02 May 2009Oh my god. I have seen some pretty terrible movies in my time but this one takes the biscuit. The reason I watched it was because I happened to come across it in IMDB and the comments were positive. But please...if anyone is reading this thinking whether to watch it or not....save yourselves now.The story is actually really interesting. However why the directors chose to put pop bad members in the cast is beyond me. The only good thing about it was the lead actress. I hope she does well because having starred in this movie she deserves some compensation. And who was that guy with the baseball cap? Why was he pretending to be black? I didn't get it.Anyway, thank god this movie didn't make it to the UK...had it done so I'm sure there would have been riots.
ROTTEN!
posted on 01 Apr 2009If you haven't seen this movie yet, rent it or something: I beg of you, DO NOT BUY THIS! It was the worst film I've seen in my entire life, the only saving grace was that it was hilariously horrible. It's pathetic that it was filmed in Canada to be passed off as Chicago and in one scene, one of the characters praises the "beautiful, fine day in Chicago" that they're enjoying, but curiously, there's only land and powerlines as far as the eye can see: not Chicago like at all. As a native Chicagoan, I take a little offense...
A real time waster
posted on 10 Feb 2009My parents met eachother 33 years ago on the "EL" which is the only reason I could even stand this movie which is just so syrupy and predictable.(Was there any doubt that Kevin would get the girl?) And where did he get the money for those ads when it seemed like his job involved little else but fixing the copy machine? There were two bright spots: the hilarious Jerry Stiller and the "behind the scenes" with a cameo by Justin Timberlake & Chris Kirkpatrick.
one more thing: it's the "EL", not "L train."
As someone who has actually SEEN this movie...
posted on 23 Jan 2009...I must say I was impressed. Let me back up -- On the Line opened this weekend (9/21/01) in Indianapolis; Miremax chose the city as a test audience. A friend and I (20-something college graduates -- NOT pre-teen *NSYNC fanatics) had seen previews for the movie over the summer, and we both thought it looked like a cute romantic comedy. When we found out it opened in Indianapolis (we live nearby), we decided to check it out, and we both loved it! Lance Bass held his own just fine in the leading role, and the humor kept the theatre audience laughing throughout the movie. That is not to say the movie didn't have a few weaknesses. Two stand out in my mind -- in what I can only assume is Miremax's attempt to keep the rating at PG, curse words have been dubbed, and rather poorly, in my opinion...perhaps this was only done for the test audience? Also, several supporting storylines with various characters get lost in the shuffle somewhat and do not develop enough to make the audience care too much about how they are resolved. Also, as with any romantic comedy, the ending is predictable, but who doesn't want to see the "good guy" win? That being said, however, I feel as though I must emphasize that the positives of On the Line FAR outweigh the few, minor negatives. For those people who think this is a "chick flick", think again -- much of the humor has a distinct male point of view, and the romantic element is sweet without being too sappy. For those people who think this is a movie that only *NSYNC fans would like, think again -- Bass and Joey Fatone own their roles as true actors do; they are not simply members of *NSYNC trying to appeal to the pre-teen masses. From what I understand, this is Mr. Bass's first attempt at movies, and he has done a commendable job. I highly recommend this movie to anyone (and I mean ANYONE -- regardless of age)who enjoys fun little romantic comedies along the lines of My Best Friend's Wedding and While You Were Sleeping.
"On the Line" is going to be really cute
posted on 15 Jan 2009I just want to say that I am a HUGE *NSync fan, and Lance Bass is the cutest, sweetest guy around. I have seen the trailers and read the story lines and I think that "On the Line" is going to be a really sweet movie. I am not just saying this because I am a fan of the group, I would go see the movie even if Lance was NOT going to be in it. My friends and I are very excited about it and we plan to go see it the day of it's release! I hope that you will go see it too!
Innocent and Enjoyable Family Movie
posted on 09 Dec 2008This was an enjoyable movie for everyone...at least for the ladies out there!! I watched it with my teenage daughter and although it wasn't outstanding, it proved to be easy to watch and certainly viewable for all ages. My rating would be more like 5/10.
One of the best romance/comedy I've seen in a LONG time.
posted on 28 Nov 2008This is a clean movie. Of course there might be some language, but it was totally VOID of any bedroom scenes, or long-petting scenes. This is the movie I wouldn't be embarrassed to watch with my little sister. But don't think that's bad for the plot, because it made it even better I think. It was clean, funny, and sweet. That combination is hard to find in the modern movies these days. The actors did a good job, the music was good, and the story was cool. What could get better! Anyway, this is a fun movie, and I hope you enjoy it! By the way, the people who said this movie stank....well, they can't see strait. ENJOY!
Coming straight from a GUY who saw it on opening day...
posted on 20 Nov 2008Yeah, I'm a guy and I obsess over Britney Spears and *NSync, both for their music. More Britney, but...Anyway, I have to say it was pretty impressive. There was a VERY small bit of language (S***) but it's said quickly and unclearly. Lance and Joey both ARE pretty good actors. They should be getting lots of praise. For people who like teen pop and or NSync, there is new NSync music in the movie and soundtrack as well as Britney Spears, Melissa Lefton, and Al Green (!) Actually, the girl that was on the train and Lance (Kevin Gibbons) both like Al. At least in the movie. I've actually seen the movie, and it's pretty good. Actually, I'm seeing it again.
Not Worth Your Hard Earned Money
posted on 28 Sep 2008Hope you get this movie as a gift because if you have to spend your money to see it you will be very upset. This movie was very stupid and not worth my time. I saw it because at the time I was obsessed with *NSYNC, and I don't know why. Lance Bass cannot act. There, I said it. Now teenyboppers everywhere will hate me. But it's true. He has no acting skills. Joey Fatone Jr. acted better than Lance, and maybe that was because Joey was playing more of a funny character, and in real life Joey is a comedian too.
But poor Lance, he just stunk up the screen. If you saw Never Been Kissed you basically saw this movie because both have the same type of plot and the same type of ending. So yes, this movie is a waste of time and money.2/10
This is one of my fav movie evr in my whole life!!
posted on 08 Aug 2008I'm gonna tell you 3 complete GOOD reason why you should watch this movie!!!!!
First of all, there's Lance Bass & Joey Fatone, isn't enough a reason for you to go and watch it??!!
Secondly, the plot is very unique!! Ever seen on with the same story base??
Thirdly, it doesn't have any violence or sex thingie!! It's completely DECENT!!
Craptactular
posted on 07 Aug 2008?= The most unintentionally hilarious bad movie EVER made!!! Reviewer: A viewer from Dana Point, CA United States Lance Bass makes a stunningly awful debut in this stupefying waste of celluloid and is thoroughly unconvincing as a human being. His "character" is a virtual protozoa whose mindless pitch ("Girlz on the Move") for Reebok is stolen by Bee Autch (Tamala Jones). Joey Fatone, on the other hand, is completely convincing as an A-hole who can't sing, likes to pick the underwear out of his ass hole and screws over his friends whenever he feels like it. Lance's sub-friends include a character only worth calling Tourette (he APPEARS to have the disease but is basically ugly and unshaven) and an unsurprisingly out-of-place preppie (or, if you prefer, Abercrombie & Fitch catalog model reject). We're unsure who portrays Abbey because she looks different in every scene. Sometimes she's Asian, sometimes Hispanic, sometimes Australian, sometimes Canadian (!)...well, MOSTLY Canadian, anyway. Sometimes she has a boyfriend, sometimes a lesbian roommate, sometimes her boyfriend is played by different actors in the same scene! Anyway, she looks like a sexually frustrated streetwalker waiting for a cigarette (preferably filterless) and her payment to be laid before her on the Ikea dresser. Speaking of which, incredibly, there is more product placement in this film than MR DEEDS or MAC & ME ("classic" '80s kiddie pic, if you're a MST3K fan, anyway). Pepsi, McDonalds, beer (too many kinds to name)...you'll have to suffer through the film if you want to hunt for them all! We now must mention the strange inclusion of Jerry Stiller as a gay copy room assistant and the poorly dubbed-over profanities, which is sometimes done by non-English speaking actors! Lance is at his best during a scene where the director instructed him to use the copy machine and WITHOUT closing the lid! We can see only his hairline and forehead, which convey emotion much better than anything below that. We can't neglect to mention the lone moment of indie cinematography where it appears that human emotion is conveyed through the chain-link fence but then the moment fades and we're saddled with Lance's expressionless face once again. We liken it to being on the cusp of the Big "O" and then denied the opportunity to realize it. In all fairness, this movie provided more unintetional laughs than GLITTER and CROSSROADS combined.(Note how Maraih's hairstyle conveys mood, tone, feeling, and conflict)Anywhoo, writing this review has been intensley cathartic for me and mine. Much love to the many actresses who played abbey P.S. Notice how on the blurb on the the back the intro says "He met Abby (the love of his live) but didn't hear her name"- Hello her name is abbey you just said it. I have a creeping suspicion that LAnce is responsible for this tag line and I also suspect he is illiterate. My favorite moment however is when highschool Lance hallucinates and his shirt flies off and we hear his inner monologue describe how his armpits are sweating(yet another example of ON THER LINE"s Oscar quality writing). In close second for my favorite moment is the inspired scene where Kevin/Lance(the script used both names Lance got confused and tried to hide from the cameras)puts himself on the line to find his girl. But in reality,he made a poster(Very on the line-risquee in my opinion i better stop before i get to the old lady who never gets laid

Listen Up...
posted on 27 Aug 2009Hey, I am not a serious NSYNC fan at all, but just for giggles I went to see this movie in theaters. Honestly, anyone could like this movie. It has comedy, romance, suspense, everything a good movie has. Surprisingly there was even good acting. After 10 minutes the NSYNC guys aren't NSYNC guys anymore...you really get into the characters they play. So watch the movie and then decide before you decide [...]. Its really a good movie.
