Robot Chicken's finest half hour is more savvy than Spaceballs, more inside than Family Guy: Blue Harvest, and funnier, even, than The Star Wars Holiday Special. This Very Special Episode of Comedy Central's stop-motion animated series parodies and goofs on all things Star Wars, from a disgruntled Empire janitor to an ad for Admiral Ackbar Cereal ("Your tongues can't repel flavor of that magnitude"). Twenty three minutes goes by like the jump to hyperspace with such priceless bits as the collect phone call to Emperor Palpatine from Darth Vadar to inform him of the Death Star's destruction, awkward morning-after pillow talk between Luke and Leia ("That was so wrong"), and George Bush's newfound Jedi powers. Co-creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and company immerse viewers in the Robot Chicken universe with generous bonus features, including storyboarded deleted scenes (with self-deprecating commentary), behind the scenes footage of animation meetings, and alternate audio takes. Good sport George Lucas, who gave his blessing to this episode, boldly goes where William Shatner went before by voicing himself in a Star Wars convention sketch that concludes with a Lucas-worshiping geek telling his son that meeting his idol was the best day of his life. What about his son's birth? "Not even close," dad replies. But you don't have to have that kind of devotion to Star Wars to be amused by this weather forecast for Cloud City: "Cloudy, followed by clouds."

Brilliantly funny for anyone with a reasonable knowledge of Star Wars (which is everyone pretty much)
posted on 03 Feb 2009As others have said, it doesn't really matter if you have never watched Robot Chicken but it does matter if you have seen Star Wars at least once. Unlike the Family Guy special (which now doesn't look as funny), this parody is a series of sketches that range from a few seconds to a few minutes but never longer. The quality is very high and I laughed hard and frequently as I watched it. Whether it was the simplicity of C3PO trying to get through airport security or a reimagining of the Cantina scene from the point of view of a minor character, almost all of them hit the target. Some of the jokes stand out but all of them are good at very least – there was only really one part of one sketch that I remember not getting, otherwise it had me in stitches.The animation is superficially rough and I imagine that that is part of the charm of the series – those used to it will not notice but those coming to it for the first time (like me) might take all of five seconds to get used to it – mainly because the laughs kick in almost immediately and you don't notice anything after that. You certainly don't notice time because the special is over before it begins and leaves you wanting more. The voice work is good and the acting shows great comic timing and ability as they deliver the gags just right. Overall a wonderfully funny Star Wars parody that is done with knowledge and affection but also, more importantly, a great sense of humour and imagination.
Star Wars...Robot Chicken style
posted on 25 Dec 2008This special's not bad, loved the "yo mama jokes" clip, "pervert Bobba Fett", "Jar Jar" etc, but overall the episode wasn't the surplus I was hoping for. Mostly because out of the 26 minutes almost half of them are clips we've already seen, so since there's only about 13 minutes or so of new material I felt almost, kind of, maybe, a little, well, ripped off. But that's definitely too strong of a word, "Robot Chicken" is one of the best shows ever, and I'd be immensely happy to see the 3rd season come to life. I know the older clips are here simply because they're ripping on Star Wars too, but we've all seen them so many times before that they were really slowing the otherwise great pace. It's like stand-up comedy, once you tell a great joke on TV you really shouldn't repeat it again on a different show, it feels kind of cheap (at least to me). Better to come up with new material and make the show shorter. Ooooooor, make the show so much longer that the stuff you repeat doesn't overtake the new stuff. I guess THAT'S the point I've been trying to say: Robot Chicken guys, make your shows last longer!!!:)....But otherwise, this is great fun, and it really shows that these guys have a lot of devotion to the Star Wars world, they even convinced the high and mighty Lucas to help them out. posted on 17 Dec 2008Ha ha ha! That was the greatest Star Wars skit I've ever seen. RObot Chicken's the best. My favorites are when Jar Jar recognizes Darth Vadar being Anakin once and thinks he still is. And to the brief skit where Luke and Leia were in bed. "That was SO wrong". ::they're going' to hell!:: And I loved how they used those alien girls to finally do some dirty dancing. I would love for Robot Chicken to do some anime spoofing. I could use the laugh on some anime if they do that on Robot Chicken. Robot Chicken's the best of doing some skits like those. Keep up the good work, Seth Green.Anyways, a 10 out of 10. ^_^
It was funny.........well only half of it.
posted on 17 Dec 2008I was waiting for episode for almost a week already,and when I sat down to watch it I was excited.The first half of the show was funny,not as funny as I thought it was going to be but it was funny.I don't know why but with about 12min left or so it started running out of gas and it almost made me forget the first 18min of the show.The last 12min, I probably laughed once.So take it for what its worth but I actually thought giving this episode 30min was a great idea guess I was wrong.The only good thing that was good about last night is that it was a marathon,they gave reruns that still make me laugh so I could forget about this disappointment but of course after 2 episodes passed they gave the Star Wars episode again.

posted on 31 Aug 2008This was fantastic, crazy, immature and joyfully stupid/joyously witty parody on all things Star Wars. What's great is that you don't need to be a Robot Chicken fan (though I'm sure it helps) or even have watched it very much to decide either way. If you like your parodies quick and skit-like and random and sometimes just dumb as hell, Robot Chicken: Star Wars is something of a minor masterpiece in the form. Seth Green's collage of classic bits from the movie redone, and then lampooned from all corners (there' "Dr. Ball" featuring the big black orb that tortured Princess Leia, there's Admiral Ackbar cereal, there's George W. Bush thinking he's a Jedi and pitting his "mind-trick" on a WMD question, there's even a running "gag" involving Jar-Jar becoming a "ghost" torturing Darth Vader). There's barely a moment when I didn't laugh out loud, or find something actually really funny and creative in its wit and, as a fan of the saga, obscure bits that only people who've seen the film 10 or 20 times would get (i.e. that blue guy playing the piano at Jabba's palace pushing an album wit songs like "I'm not an elephant!"), or just obvious gags that only come on late at night (i.e. Luke and Leia in bed, "This is so... wrong.") Granted, it may take a certain sense of humor or just familiarity with the Star Wars films to get some of the gags- those who aren't keen on the prequels may not remember what midiclorians (sic) are let alone how the jokes lock in step in the show- but for those that get it, it's priceless. Only minor personal geek-type liability: no Yoda!

I had never seen the Robot Chicken episodes prior to watching this episode and now I can't get enough of watching this series. If you love Star Wars (and any spin off's such as the recent Family Guy: Blue Harvest episode) then this is an episode for you.This episode keeps to the same format as the Robot Chicken series (written by Seth Green) by showing short clips and skits of each of the six Star Wars movies. I believe this is what makes it stand out from any other Star Wars spin offs as there is no outlined story.With classic skits like the Admiral Achkbar cereal, President Bush and President Washington in a Jedi death match, with Boba Fett & his Han Solo fetish, a builder named Ray and a not so dead Jar Jar.With a star cast of voices including Mark Hamill, George Lukas, Seth Green and Seth Mcfarlene this episode delivers a great level of comedy you would expect from such comic geniuses.The flaw of this short episode? It's exactly that. Too short.
The Best Star Wars Parody Out There
posted on 17 Feb 2008I've been hearing about this since it hit Cartoon Network last year and I just had to pre-order the DVD. I haven't laughed so hard in a while and I saw this right after I watched Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, which I would also recommend. Seth Green and crew have really accomplished something amazing with this 23 minute compilation and I am thrilled to own it.I haven't really watched Robot Chicken other than a few clips here and there before this but I just may start. I was very impressed with the animation, even if it isn't that hard pull off, which it looks like it is, it still looks amazing. This episode is awesome, especially if you are a Star Wars fan and understand what they are referencing. I probably wouldn't recommend if you aren't.
Worth your time
posted on 01 Feb 2008I stumbled about this little piece of Star Wars parody on the internet and just couldn't stop laughing through most of it. Imagine some of the most classic SW scenes recreated with some kind of puppets, add an unexpected and funny twist to them scenes and you've got Robot Chicken: Star Wars.Sadly the episode kinda loses steam at the end and you sit through the last minutes without even being able to smile about the jokes. Never mind that. If you are a Star Wars fan and have at least as much sense of humor as a bantam, you'll be very entertained.All in all a 8/10. If there is ever a directors cut and they get rid of the ice ***** scene, I might go even higher.
Better then the series
posted on 04 Jan 2008Not by a lot though. Anyway, I saw this had come out on DVD Last Night so I decided to pick it up. I was kinda disappointed though by the length of the special (23 Min) but, being a huge fan of Robot Chicken and of Star Wars, I decided to give it a try...and boy was it good. It was a great blend of wit with their humor and the sheer amount of Star Wars references made it so easy to watch. Most of the jokes that were in there were hilarious and really added something to the special (The jokes that were not funny were just not funny not puke inducing like Meet The Spartans or anything like that).I really enjoyed this as a long time fan of Star Wars (I cant help being born only in 1996 so I have been watching SW for only 6 years now but that is long to me). This is the best Robot Chicken thing they have ever made and I hope that the second one is just as good.Overall, fans of Star Wars will LOVE this special, and so will fans of Robot Chicken. I rate this special 88%.
Most parts were good
posted on 05 Nov 2007I never really watch Robot Chicken that much before seeing this and it continues to be absent from the shows I do watch during the week. However, I am a huge Star Wars fan and when I heard that there would be a parody of it on Robot Chicken, I made sure I would have Cartoon Network on the night it aired. I had seen Robot Chicken before and hadn't been too impressed but I must admit I was not disappointed with the half hour special of Robot Chicken: Star Wars.So many classic Star Wars scenes are twisted and turned into comedy with strange happenings at every bend. The Emperor on the collect call with Darth Vader asking "what the hell is an Aluminum Falcon?", Darth Vader being confronted by Jar Jar Binks aboard a Star Destroyer , and Luke and Palpatine having a 'yo mama' fight during the climax of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. There were so many classic scenes I couldn't stop laughing through most of it. Seth Green really did a great job.Some parts weren't so great though. During the end things didn't seem to be that great. The last sequence on ice is really really bad. A few other scenes I barely smiled. I believe that Green and the people working with him just failed to come up with stuff so they went with whatever came to them at the end. There are 3 or 4 scenes which I would fast forward through if you are watching it somewhere, trust me they aren't funny. The rest, however, is golden and will be hilarious to anyone watching it. Pretty much if you love Star Wars, you'll like this. Listen for George Lucas in his cameo and be prepared to laugh.3.5/5 Stars

posted on 26 Oct 2007Robot Chicken is a pretty funny show that ranks up there with Family Guy, South Park, The Simpsons and Spongebob Squarepants. This half-hour skit is all the segments from the show that deal with Star Wars, if you haven't already noticed, and it's pretty funny for what its worth. There are plenty of segments to keep you chuckling and snorting. I can't even tell you my favorite skit because they're all pretty darn funny. If you missed it on Cartoon Network, then check it out on "Youtube.com".* * * * Please NOTE: You might not get certain jokes if you aren't familiar of the names of the vehicles, creatures, aliens, background characters and/or am not a huge "Star Wars" fan.

posted on 06 Oct 2007Like "Family Guy: Blue Harvest", this parody of everyones favorite trilogy is irreverent, satirical and lot's of fun to watch.Seth Green, Breckin Meyer, Mike Fasolo, Matthew Senreich and the rest of the creative team do a fantastic job recreating some classic moments from the films, all with that unique "Robot Chicken" twist.As a fan of the original Star Wars series - I can say, without a doubt, that these sketches do the movies justice (they sure made me laugh at loud!)...and it was over way too soon.As a bonus, if you have the DVD, check out the Cartoon Network bumpers and spots that the cast and writers did to promote the series and the special...talk about funny. It's basically half an hour of a bunch of twenty-something guys playing with Star Wars toys and Nerf dart guns, just hanging out and having a ball...and getting paid for it!

You can tell that they really love their Star Wars! Everything looks
like a direct copy but with a hilarious twist. From the attack of the
ATAT's, where we learn that there are toilets aboard them, on to the
phone call of "my favorite sith". The complete genius and fun with
which this show is clearly made makes me want to see it again and
again. And let's not forget the voice work, George Lucas himself shows
us that he really has a sense of humor. Mark Hamill is Luke Skywalker.
Lucasfilm helped with the sounds of R2D2, Chewbacca amongst others, so
everything you hear is almost the real thing. Two thumbs up!!

posted on 13 Aug 2007Once I saw a video of an interview to the creators of South Park in which they say that they should have formed a rock band in order to get the girls since their bigger followers are teenage boys! It was a very funny interview and in this great but short Star Wars Special of the great show Robot Chicken we see George Lucas arriving to a Star Wars convention so you can imagine his "groupies" and we see especially one fan boy whose greatest day was the day when he saved George Lucas from lots of fan boys! To be honest I have seen few episodes of Robot Chicken but with that I can say it is a great show and definitely I would like to see more Robot Chicken. This Star Wars special was mentioned in the Star Wars special of Family Guy (a very funny joke at the very end of that special that is also very good and funny stuff) and basically when I heard the character Chris saying that Robot Chicken did the same before was when I realized about the existence of this Star Wars special and recently I came with its DVD and certainly I bough it.Each sketch is fun, some of them shorter some of them funnier but each one of them help in order to have a very fast paced show (yes it is a short special but you will feel that its runtime is only about 10 minutes!). Certainly I love Star Wars, I love the first movies and I like the prequels but it's been a long time since I watched those films for the last time, in other words I'm not a big connoisseur of Star Wars, I didn't knew who was that character that loses his arm and because of that his job also but that sketch was hilarious and definitely is one of my favourites (he still could draw! but still he didn't saved his job) just as the sketch of the blue guy who looks like an elephant and who is a grammy winning singer (his songs are awesome! Why do I look like an elephant?). Other favourite of mine is the one with the men of Darth Vader, we see how they survive, extremely funny and here the power of Darth Vader of strangulation ends just being part of his imagination, also we see a private who has been strangled over 30 times! And was funny to see that private in another sketch that is also hilarious: the one that is about Darth Vader having the visit of an old friend, an old and extremely annoying friend who certainly is still annoying and who still calls him Ani! Of course I'm talking of Jar Jar Binks, very memorable and even that Darth Vader is Darth Vader he just can't get rid of Jar Jar. Emperor Palpatine (voice of Seth McFarlane) is also on fire, there's a guy who dance sort of like Napoleon Dynamite, Luke had sex with Leia and George Bush dreamed about being a Jedi and fighting against Abraham Lincoln (Bush call him George Washington!). Terrific fun! DVD Extras: 5 deleted scenes (storyboards), time lapse, photo gallery, panel presentation, production design, alternate audio, behind the scenes, trailers (the one with George Lucas at the therapist is hilarious!), on air bumps, animation meeting and chicken nuggets (video commentary by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich).

posted on 22 Jun 2007Let's start with a little facts. Robot Chicken is a claymation minishow that parodies many popular events, celebrities, movies, and maybe even TV shows. Events may include political events, and celebrities may include Michael Jackson. Each clip created in this show may be hilarious, just a little funny, or other.Besides the annoying introduction with the staff and the annoying hip hop background music attempting to be cool, and the stupid clips and "cut" thing, this movie is excellent. This movie was created by men with the guts to attempt a Star Wars parody. Well, this attempt is successful, bringing in fans of the movie from around the country and probably world.This movie has no plot.I recommend this movie for Robot Chicken fans and for those who thought the first paragraph in this review or "comment" described a good show.
The funniest damn Star Wars parody I've ever seen since EVER
posted on 27 Feb 2009There's REALLY no words to say here. I'm so glad I saw this, it's just so LOL-hilarious. I ain't NEVER saw nobody make fun of Star Wars this way! I just gotta get this on DVD somehow. The funniest skit was probably the second one with the Vader/Emperor phone call. The Emperor just LOST IT on this dude!!! The 'Yo Momma' fight was great! George Bush's whole skit even the one with his daughter Jenna was OFF-THE-HOOK!!!! The fact that George Lucas actually appears in a skit in here (with his ACTUAL VOICE) was a big plus. That was a cool skit as well.Unbelievably funny! That's all.
