PLOT SUMMARY

The killer doll is back! The all-new film is the fifth in the popular series of Chucky ("Child's Play") horror comedies. Making his directorial debut is the franchise creator and writer of all five films, Don Mancini. The film introduces Glen (voiced by "The Lord of the Rings" star Billy Boyd), the orphan doll offspring of the irrepressible devilish-doll-come-to-life Chucky (again voiced by series star Brad Dourif) and his equally twisted bride Tiffany (again voiced by Jennifer Tilly). When production starts on a movie detailing the urban legend of his parents' lethal exploits, Glen heads for Hollywood where he brings his bloodthirsty parents back from the dead. The family dynamics are far from perfect as Chucky and Tiffany go Hollywood and get rolling on a new spree of murderous mayhem; much to gentle Glen's horror. Chucky can't believe that his child doesn't want to walk in his murdering footsteps, and star-struck Tiffany can't believe that the movie will star her favorite actress, Jennifer Tilly (playing herself), who soon becomes an unwitting hostess to this new family in more ways than one...

Just a Horrible Movie

posted on 31 Aug 2009

This is one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. The puppets looked pathetic, the story was just pitiful, and the acting was ridiculous. The effects were horrible. The Chucky and Tiffany doll look so pathetic, but not as pathetic as their child, Glen or Glenda. They tried to be funny, but failed miserably. The character that the world knew as the Good Guy doll Chucky, has just been pissed on.

In this movie, that child of Tiffany and Chucky discovers its parents when it learns a movie is being made about the Good Guy doll named Chucky. It makes its way into the Studio and finds its parents. Fortunately for it, the spell to wake them up is written on the back of the amulet that was left behind from before. With one chant, the dolls get up, and coincidentally, the souls of Charles Lee Ray, and Tiffany posses them. They decide to become human again, and raise their child as a human as well.

The acting was just pitiful. Jenniffer Tilly gives one of the worst performances ever seen. If just was not believable when she ran away screaming. Redman did a horrible job acting like he was getting stabbed by a knife. The paparazzi scumbag did not do a very good job at acting like his face was burnt by sulfiric acid, but his performance throughout the rest of the movie was better than anyone elses.

The effects were so cheesy. Shortly after Chucky and Tiffany combe back, they get to kill someone. How? By wrapping a string around his neck and squeezing it so tight that the head flies off. IT did not even look like a real head. It would have been better if they just had Chucky and Tiffany strangle him to death. The special effects were just that cheesy.

This is such a horrible movie. The idiots that made this movie have completely ruined Chucky. I was glad that Brad Dourif did the voice of Chucky once again, but not even his voice was enough to save this movie. This should have never been released in theaters.

Entertainment = 2/10

Favorite Scene - Scene at the end where Chucky takes an axe and cuts through the door. This is where I was expecting to hear, "Here's Johnny." like so many movies do, but Chucky does not say that. Instead, he says, "Funny. I can't think of anything to say."

Stranger Than The Other Chucky Movies

Jennifer Tilly was last seen with the little red doll named Chucky in the movie Bride of Chucky. She is back in this movie but not as Chucky's love human love interest, she is nw playing herself, B list actress Jennifer Tilly. The movie opens with several bloody gory scenes. The bloodiest scene of them all in one when Chucky and the doll Jennifer are scene killing Santa Claus. But wait a minute, turns out that Chucky and wife have been turned into real life mechanical dolls. A strange little doll that wets his pants brings them back to life. This is their son, err..daughter, yes the little "Thing" doesn't have any private parts. The doll that is supposed to be Chucky's offspring is so weird and crazy looking.

Jennifer Tilly, the actress in the movie tries out for a new movie and the adventure continues. Jennifer the doll and Chucky steal the show. Rapper Redman also appears in this film as himself. They work on raising their "child," and come up with another plan to artificially inseminate a human. Naturally, Jennifer Tilly is their choice. (...). Acting as Jennifer Tilly in the film, she act very different than the role she played in the previous film. The DVD is unrated and nastier and bloodier than the theater version. The DVD includes a lot of bonus material, the longest featurette is titled "Conceiving The Seed of Chucky." It had been so many years since "The Bride of Chucky" was released fans of the classic franchise were not sure if this movie would ever be released. Based on the thin plot and mediocrity of the film, this might be the last film in the Chucky series.

0 STARS: This is pure nonsense.

For those of us that are serious about our horror movies, stay away from this garbage...this movie is so ridiculously stupid and silly that I did not even finish it. If you like a horror movie trashed, check this out, but it sure is a shame that Chucky has turned into such a pu$$y.

IF you think you might like this, trust me, you will!

Towards the climax of "Seed of Chucky", Chucky himself manages to subvert the ENTIRE concept of the ENTIRE series so far, and thus most films of its kind, by using simple reasoning. I have been dying to hear that from a "slasher villain" for, well...since the birth of slasher villains. What a great time this movie is! "Bride of Chucky" reinvented what had become a dull, unscary franchaise as black comedy. "Seed" takes that ball and runs with it. Don Mancini, who created Chucky many years ago, finally gets a chance to direct and I think this film will get him jobs outside the series. He not only makes the fifth take on Chucky feel fresh- a major accomplishment in itself for any series that has gone on this long- but shows a flair for satirizing movie clichés (a certain object flies upwards towards the camera at one point and it's a gas considering how overused that shot has been in action movies of recent years)and has a strong visual sense- check out the floor of Jennifer Tilly's foyer for an unexpected laugh. And I've got to hand it to Ms.Tilly- the girl's a trooper for sure, letting herself be the butt of jokes, both cruel and crazy. This is balanced by a great scene- a lot of directors would have left it for the DVD- where she reveals that she's not the one note Hollywood caricature she's been built up to be. Add that to a gender confusion subplot, and a piss take on twelve step programs, and you've got something a hell of a lot smarter than most horror films. Hell, than most comedies.Speaking of Hollywood, the refreshing thing for a movie that takes place there? It isn't married to tired in jokes- save for one great one for B-Movie fans- the name of Chucky and Tiffany's child- which I will leave you to discover for yourself. "Seed" has the over the top humour of the best obnoxious comedies ("American Pie" comes to mind, but better examples probably escape me), and a surprisingly graphic amount of gore- this thing doesn't skimp on the blood. For the latter reason, no way will it cross over to a mainstream audience. It is what it is and is the most entertaining version of what it is, I think, possible. What it all comes down to is, if you're on this page, reading reviews, you're probably a partial convert to a movie like "Seed of Chucky", and if you're wondering if you'll like it, I have to tell you, this movie doesn't skimp. It's got all the slasher movie essentials like gore and nudity, married to a crude, black, very funny sense of humour, and even some semblance of humanity. What I'm saying is, you'll like it.

Seed of Chucky is one of the best in the series*SPOLIERS AHEAD*Plot: Glen/Glenda (Billy Boyd) reawakens his parents. The murderous Chucky (Brad Dourif) and his wife Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) on the set of the new movie, Chucky Goes Psycho. They quickly go about their murderous ways much to the dismay of Glen/Glenda who wants them to stop killing. They agree, but Chucky secretly keeps on killing. On the movie set they run into Jennifer Tilly (Jennifer Tilly) who is in talks with Redman (Redman) about starring in his upcoming film. Chucky plans to posses Redman, Tiffany plans to posses Jennifer Tilly, and Glen/Glenda will posses a new born baby in order to become human again once and for all.The Good News: This is the most comedic of the series. There are plenty of laughs and smiles for the fans in here. The change from horror to comedy didn't bother me as most of the jokes are pretty funny including one about violins, but the change may upset people who are not fond of the comedic Chucky. The plot is fresh and hasn't been done before which is not typical for a fourth sequel. The film builds cleverly on from the fourth with Chucky and Tiffany being together to this outing with their child. The idea that he is not like his parents and their murderous attitude is original and how he wants them to stop killing provides for some hilarious conversations between Tiffany and Chucky. The few kills are nicely handled, we get an acid burning, run off the road, head concussion, lit on fire, and a nice gutting. This brings up the gore in the film. It is pleasantly gory with adequate blood in every killing which is certain to please gore hounds looking for a gory good time. Jennifer Tilly is the best thing here playing a very contrived version of herself. Brad Dourif's voice for Chucky hasn't lost its touch and is still the best and it would be hard to find another voice actor to even match Brad. Redman and John Waters do fine in their roles, but the best supporting actor award goes to Hannah Spearitt as Joan. Hannah's charm and quirk makes her instantly likable and you are saddened to see her go. On the other hand her death was one of the best. I also give props to the script as it makes you start to feel sympathy for Tiffany as she tries to put her murderous instincts behind her and her caring attitude to Glen/Glenda who is also a nice character and you can relate to him. Billy Boyd's voice could've been improved, but it still works well. Once again the dolls move so fluently and realistically that is easy to forget that they are just dolls. So much care is put into the dolls from the movements to the design of them and it shows greatly. The film has good entertainment value and has a good re watch ability factor. The Bad News: There are already people who will be against this because of the comedy. Even though this is mainly comedy it does try to have suspenseful moments, but it feels out of place compared to the rest of the movie and the suspense doesn't sell. The cast needed to be beefed up for a bigger body count as more than a few deaths are a dream or not real. This does contain the clichéd film within a film, but not too much time is focused on that and really doesn't hurt the film. Jennifer Tilly really needed to be more active during the ending and had a real one on two fight with Chucky and Tiffany, but the ending is strong enough to work just fine the way it is right now. Conclusion: Slasher fans who like comedy with their slashing will want to give this a look and for Chucky fans who aren't to picky about the content in their films this is a safe bet, but if you're not a fan of smart Aleck Chucky use caution. RecommendRated: Unrated

What the ? - SPOILER

For as long as I can remember it, I have been a Chucky fan.I mean, he is a cute doll on the outside but a killer on the inside. His line "Wanna play?" is legendary. The first movie was well made and had suspense all over. I loved it.I loved part 2 even more. I know it was "more of the same" but that did not matter as I loved Chucky so much. Part 3 was different enough to make it fun. Then things went bad with Bride Of Chucky which was more of a comedy than a real horror movie. I still liked that move though. This however I cannot like at all. The basic story is pathetic. Chucky's son (who did indeed fell off an ugly tree while hitting every branch on it) wants to meet his folks to brings them back to life. That in itself is not so bad but then the story gets really bad as nothing really happens. They do a bit of killing but that is not suspenseful at all.Granted, it has a few really good jokes such as Chucky commenting "Ooops, I did it again." after killing Britney. But that is all about it actually. The ending was rather bad as well though it did have one good side. It meant that the movie was over. I own the whole collection of Chucky movies on DVD so I "have" to get this one to complete the set but I will wait for it to be on sale.I think the producers should just forget Bride Of Chucky and Seed Of Chucky were ever made and make Child's Play 4 with Chucky as he was meant to be.How to bring him back? Well I doubt that would matter much. The fans would be so happy the real Chucky is back that they would not care how he was brought back. This movie is one that you should try to avoid. Of if you have to get it, get it on sale. Otherwise it is a waste of money.

please bring back the old chucky

I liked Bride of Chucky but. . . I miss andy. COMEDY AND HORROR DO NOT MIX!!! Get that through your heads. I also miss the old Child's Play movies. Please let tiffany die and let chucky be his old self again. Do not kill andy if you take my advice to bring him back in another sequel. . . if you make another chucky.

Chucky and Tiffany make a big time comeback. (SPOILERS HEREIN)

posted on 11 Aug 2009

There isn't much to say about the newest incarnation of Chucky, except that maybe Billy Boyd shouldn't talk. To anyone. Ever. Again. And John Waters should randomly appear in more things.

Overall, the movie was funny. Chucky (Brad Dourif) has some really fantastic one liners, as usual and they even let Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) get some great cracks in as well. A few of the jokes fell flat, which is often to be expected when dealing with one line cracks, but generally that audience seemed to like the comedy.

The visual jokes worked well too, namely, a long shot of Chucky, shadowed behind drapes, visibly masturbating that had the audience in stitches. They use the sperm to impregnate Tilly so that Glen can take its body when his parents change theirs as well.

Though I would call this more of a comedy than a horror flick, the kills were absolutely spectacular. They are as brutal and gory as the Child's Play series has ever had to offer. John Waters, the infamous and acclaimed cult director of Pink Flamingos and Cry-Baby plays a paparazzo who is stalking Jennifer Tilly (playing herself) in hopes of getting a juicy picture of her and her new beau Redman (as himself as well). Instead, he meets a fantastically grisly end in his dark room. A little sulfuric acid over the head will do a lot of damage. Redman is gruesomely disemboweled at the dinner table, treating the audience to a beautiful image of steaming intestines. There is also an absolutely awesome decapitation of a puppeteer in the early part of the movie, which results in a very funny scene with Tilly talking to it because she thinks it is a prop. Very, very funny.

Tilly is fantastically campy, both as Tiffany and herself. She specializes in screaming and running in high heels and it works really well for the over-the-top humor in the movie. Dourif is, in my humble opinion, one of THE BEST voice actors ever and he brings Chucky to life like no one else ever could. He delivers one-liners like no one else. Well, maybe second only to Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, but that's up to debate. Billy Boyd was great at creating the eerie, yet endearingly child-like voice of Glen, Tiffany and Chucky's doll-child. If this is what Billy Boyd sounds like, keep him away from small children... and me.

The ending was pretty fantastic. The entire goal in the movie was for Tiffany and Chucky to transfer their soul into the bodies of Redman and Tilly. After Redman's death, they move on to Tilly's driver (Steve Lawton) and attempt to do the soul transfer quickly, but nothing goes right. Eventually, after Tilly gives birth to twins (forcing Glen to choose to be either a boy or girl, which he has been confused about) Chucky decides he doesn't want to be human and Glen/Glenda hacks him to pieces. Fade to black. We come back to see Jennifer Tilly's nanny complaining that Glenda scares her and that she wants to quit the job. Tilly agrees and then beats her to death with the Tiffany doll. We move outside and see a creepy girl and a very happy little boy, clearly Glen (the nice boy) and Glenda (the evil girl), so Glen/Glenda didn't have to choose what to be, he got it both ways. We then see Glen open an unmarked gift, inside is Chucky's severed arm which latches on to his throat. Fade to black with echoing Chucky laughter.

If that isn't a clever, soul transferring, doll-to-human ending, I don't know what is.

What a treat! Chucky and Tiffany is back, and their confused son, a Ziggy Stardust from hell inspired doll with gender problems, rocks the movies like never before. Humor combined with clever writing, blood and gore, makes this a fun little picture to enjoy. There are some classic moments in the movie, seeing Chuckys silluet... well, U know what I mean when you see it!So, the question is; when will we get to see Chucky VS Freddy VS Jason VS Alien VS Predator? What famous killer could Chucky be able to meet? Who's left? Leatherface? Don't think so! Ah, I know; Chucky VS Michael Myers! "Its Halloween, Myers has yet again turned back from the dead, and Chucky gives all to get Michaels body. Myers on the other hand keeps looking for his sister, not knowing that Tiffany has taken hold of her body!"Why the h*** not? Could be fun!:)

I hate self-referencial movies.

posted on 01 Aug 2009

This movie could have gotten another star or two from me but I simply hate the self-referencial nature of it.

It's not as aggregious as the horrendous Ocean's Twelve where the character played by Julia Roberts tricks people into thinking she is Julia Roberts "because she looks a lot like her", but it does have the dolls that are being used to make a Chucky movie become the real Chucky and Tiffany.

There are plenty of people who are playing themselves in the movie. The main one being Jennifer Tilly. The Tiffany doll (voiced by Jennifer Tilly) of course has plenty of self-referencial situations with the real Jennifer Tilly. Oh what fun!

The positives are that this movie does go pretty far with its shock value content but it is not really enough to redeem itself from the stupid self-referencial story they made.

The dvd says they already have plans for the next Chucky movie. Hopefully, but not likely, they will drop the self-referencing, and come up with a better idea to base the story on than domestic squabbling around a sexual identity confused child (Glen/Glenda. I don't know how much matches the Ed Wood movie as I haven't seen it).

What the hell is this crap. This movie wreaks of suckiness. I am highly disappointed at this over made entry and the entertainingly silly and scary Child's Play series. The fault cold fall on the flat performance of beloved Jenifer Tilly, a first time director, a flawed script, bad dialogue, stupid supposedly clever references or is it just the lame additional performance by undeserving star Redman. This film id just plain horrible and heres what it's about believe it or not. The film is more of a dysfunctional family film than a genre flick. It boasts some overly ridiculous kills ( john Waters, Brittany Spears) that are some time fillers of the film's half assed ludicrous development. Enetr title character glen/glenda because we don know it's sex it's chiucky and tiffany's kid. And he doesn't like to kill. He tracks down his parents to Hollywood and resurrects them with the ever shortening incantation. There they decide to impregnate Jenifer Tilly and take over some Hollywood star bodies so that they can be human again. The film boasts some creative laugh sequences but all in all it's just plain crud. In others hands the films supposed cleverness may have come across as so but in Mancin's it falls formidably flat and lifeless. All in all seed of chucky is stillborn. Wait for cable or never see it at all. As far as I'm condemned Bride of chucky still hasn't birthed a sequel.Crap

why bother?

Embarrassing, unfunny, and completely unnecessary horror/parody takes place during the making of the latest Chucky movie where serial killer dolls Tiffany and Chucky are resurrected by their androgynous and pacifistic son. Oh yeah, the star of the film is Jennifer Tilly who just happens to be Tiffany's favorite actress. Bloody and gruesome violence are accompanied by an endless barrage of in-jokes which fall flat on their face. The Child's Play franchise has hit rock bottom as the sole purpose of this film just seems to be allowing actress Tilly to poke fun at herself as she constantly complains about the struggles of her career, but it doesn't even entertain in that respect. A waste of time and money. *½

Loved It!!!

I love Chuckie and this was one of his best films. Some will say that this movie is a disappointment, but I went to this film with hopes that this would be a film about Chuckie and his family. This is not really a horror movie - there's violence but I wasn't ever really frightened at all in the movie, but at this point I think we are a little beyond being frightened by a killer doll (on screen - in real life, things would be different). This film really showed the hearts of Tiffany and Chuckie. Glen/Glenda is just fantastic - the storyline centering around this child was the best decision for the film. I'm really glad that it didn't center around a person being tormented by the dolls - I know that it seemed to center around Jennifer Tilly, but she was here and there. I think I was satisfied with Jennifer's performance and the Gina Gershon jokes were great. The fact that Jennifer could willing insert fat jokes about herself shows that Jennifer really is the wonderful girl I always pictured her as. The only person I was slightly disappointed with was Redman - and this is not entirely his fault. I think his character should have had more "character" - he was such a static character, never-changing or really reacting to anything. The cinematography seemed to give a lot of closeup facial shots, which I thought was very intimate. Overall, I give it an 8 out of 10 - it'll be added to my collection when it comes out on DVD.

Seed Of Chucky

Seed Of Chucky Is Very Different From The Previous Four Pictures, From The Film Clips I Have Seen, Plus The Theatrical Trailers, This Movie Is Totally Cool And Awesome By It,s Special Effects. Talking Dolls That Are Alive Is Very Inventive. I Especially Like The New Character Of Glen/Glenda, I Think This Parental Son/Daughter Relationship Makes This Movie Intresting, Because You Can See How Important Love Is For A Kid Who Is Misunderstood, Unloved, And Unwanted. And How Parents Should Try They,re Best To Set A Good Example. Also I Really Like Jennifer Till,s Acting Especially In Two Roles, She,s Just So Funny, And Sassy At The Same Time. And Brad Dourif Is Well Suited For The Voice Of Chucky, It,s Just This Scary Voice, And It Really Can Frighten You In Certain Parts Of This Movie. He,s Funny Though Too. Tiffany And Chucky Make A Perfect Totally Bad Couple. And When I Do See This Movie, I Hope That I Will Like It. I Would Reccomend Watching It For Laughs, And Scary Moments. After All Seed Of Chucky Is About Many True Facts Of Life, Such As Hollywood,s True Background, Love Lost, Broken Hearts, Family Troubles, And Lots Of Murders. Take It From Me, Watch It Just For Fun Ladies And Gentlemen

STAY AWAY FROM IT Pls. Or if u must watch it, do so at ur own peril but pls don't watch it.

Good fun!!

This movie is definitely better than Bride of Chucky (which is still a 4 star movie itself). The humour level, as well as the gore level pushes the boundries to the point where I was quite surprised that this un-rated version was allowed for release. Chucky's kid is hilarious!! If you enjoyed Bride of Chucky, don't hesitate to viddy this one.

This movie turned out better then I thought it would. I has everything, action, violence, romance, comedy, horror, suspense, and a great story. Chucky new movie in a movie has to me a meaning. Because the name of the movie is ?Chucky goes Psycho,? near the end it seems he really does go psycho. Well the characters of the movie are well expressed. Tiffany in my opinion became more of a wimp, when she discovered that she was a mom. Chucky was heartless and even more sexy then before. Though you can start to hear Brad Dourif?s age, even though it?s hardly noticeable. Glen I think they could have done better on his look and Billy Boyd was totally the wrong voice for him. I mean come on Chucky spawned a hobbit. Jennifer Tilly was a big witch in the movie I was glad when she got hers. Redman was a complete horny toad It made you just want to smack him a good one. The movie over all was the best of the series by far.

"Classic Chucky"

Ah, the fifth installment in the Child's Play series. What is it? Well, this movie is the same old Chucky we all know and love with some comedy and more. Along to join Chucky and Tiff (Chucky's bride) in this movie is the little, orange-haired, English-accented Glen. Now, even though I am only 14 years old I have seen all of the Child's Play movies and I think this one is great even though I'm more of a fan of the old filming. In this film you'll find more creative killing techniques and you'll be surprised. In this film a L.A. studio is making a film of the "unsolved" killings in which a set of two dolls are left at each crime seen. Which is funny in itself because any killings that occur on-set are mistaken for props and fake blood. Anyway, bottom lime is that it's a good movies to see if you're in a laughing/become-scarred mood.

Chucky and Tiffany's Androgynous Child

Continuing from Bride of Chucky... Tiffany has given birth to a strange looking razor tooth baby named Sh*thead. The seed is kidnapped by a british ventriloquist and forced to compete in ventriloquism contests in England. Sh*thead looks like a dead ringer for David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust days. He has a kind soul and is nothing like his parents.

As each day passes hes wondering where his parents are and dreaming of meeting them. Soon enough he manages to escape and ends up in America. He makes it to the set of the movie where Tiffany and Chucky are filming a movie. He reads the voodoo chant words on his necklace and manages to bring his parents back to life.

Chucky and Tiffany cant tell what their child is so they take off his pants to reveal a barbie-like crotch. Tiffany wants a girl so she names her Glenda and Chucky wants a boy so he names him Glen. If you ask me id say its more like a boy. But Tiffany and Chucky continue to argue over it throughout the movie. To the suprise of Glen/Glenda his parents are killers , they try to do whats best for Glen/Glenda but its hard to stop killing, especially for Chucky. Papa Chucky wants to turn his son into a killer but Tiffany wants to stop the killing for her son/daughters best interest.

Overall, its a strange funny film more than scary. The movies in the series just get more weird by the years. I wonder what they'll think of next.

Worth Watching

This maybe not worth buying unless you are a hardcore Chucky fan, I thought Bride of Chucky was much better. This movie just does not flow as nicely as it should have, alot of weird unnecessary "plot" twists that were just dumb - I could have handled a little more killing too. If you get it, get the unrated version at least - but I recommend you rent it before you buy it.
