Music in Butterfly Effect 2

posted on 30 Aug 2009

Hey Everyone, I thought the movie was pretty bad but I the music was pretty killer. There wasn't a ton of bands but I did some digging. The scene right after the 2nd sex scene with (the "Thanks for coming" line) there is a shot of the main guy (Nick) driving in his car through the city and then parks it in a parking garage anyway the song they played during that was really killer, so I found out the song is from a band named Exit the Ordinary. If you look in the credits the song is named "The Place You Are". So I google them and found the site it's www.exittheordinary.com I thought I would let people know what good I could find in the movie & I thought the music scored a 10 and the movie a 3.5-4ish. Extra credit for making it in 25 days. Thanks

Biggest GOOF is the End?

posted on 26 Aug 2009

Spoiler for people who have not seen the movie because these explains the Ending which I don't think makes sense. At the end when Nick makes his final time travel to that Sunday morning where the picture was taken. He tries to prevent the accident again by just breaking up with Julie. But all of a sudden she is pregnant? How can this be since Nick only changed anything upto that point. So if she was pregnant before than she should have been pregnant on both the other realities. When she dies in the crash, doctor should maybe have mentioned she died while being pregnant. Or when he does prevent the accident they would have had a son, I think 1 year or so.Did anyone not notice this big boo boo.

A disturbing piece of cow s***

posted on 16 Aug 2009

Im enraged I can't vote lower than one for this piece of S***! I was so happy that a sequel was coming out to a pretty good movie, the butterfly effect. I popped it my DVD player. Started watching. The plot was terrible, nothing made sense, pornography was half the movie....then there came this one scene. I almost gagged. The main character had woken up on a bed to find a male giving him a blow job. Great. What a piece of s***. I stopped watching after that. This is not a good movie. DO NOT WATCH IT. I wasted my time on this, do not waste yours. To make it even worse than this--- the characters are all shallow, not one tense moment, not one GOOD moment. Such a low budget piece of crap.... No good effects or nothing. I can't believe I paid a dollar for renting it.

What was so bad about it?

I recently saw the first Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher and enjoyed it, it had a unique and haunting story of what the consequences might be if you change the past. The second one has the same concept, just a different cast. I was expecting a horrible movie after all the bad reviews on this film, not to mention the low rating. But I actually enjoyed the second Butterfly Effect. This time we have a boyfriend, Nick and his girlfriend, Julie, their friends and they are on a trip. Nick gets called into work again, driving everyone back and gets into a fatal car accident killing his friends and his girlfriend. A year has passed and Nick's still having bad dreams and headaches, but when he gets his hands on a picture they took that day of the accident, he goes back in time and prevents the accident from ever happening. Things are actually looking up for him, Julie's back and their relationship is stronger than ever, but he can't except the fact that he didn't get promoted at work, so he goes back again. But he ends up making things worse for his relationship and friendships. The Butterfly Effect 2, even though it's not Oscar material, I felt that it was a decent film, a lot better than most that I've seen. I think people just need to give it a chance, because I didn't really see any problems that wouldn't put this film in the 5 or 6.0's on the rating system. But I guess that's just me, but I want to help this film, so I'm going to give it a good rating.8/10

Poor sequel

posted on 31 Jul 2009

BUTTERFLY EFFECT 2 is an absolutely unnecessary sequel to the 2003 original. The fact that this is an STV tells you something right off. A group of unknown thespians get to essentially reenact the first film, as a young man find his blackouts are flinging him through time and changing the lives of everyone around him. The special effects are minimal, and the time-shifting plot line is actually pretty boring. The guy eventually finds trying to change things is a mistake. Sound familiar? A time killer, but not mandatory viewing. BE 2 does start off with a bang as the four principals are in an accident involving their SUV and a Mack truck ona narrow mountain road. This beginning looks just like the opening scene from FINAL DESTINATION 2. I suspect it was intentional.

Decent movie, Indecent sequel

In no way does it live up to Butterfly Effect 1, of course, but as an individual movie, I would say worth seeing. I thought Eric Lively and Erica Durance acted well, so I don't know why everyone complains about them. They did excellent considering the budget and amount of time they had to film the movie.*SPOILERS* The ending, however, disappointed me. I was hoping for something a little more different from BE1. The ending is different from the theatrical release in the difference between committing suicide and not, but the alternate ending to BE1 was also the main character's death, so that's already been played with. And plus he still doesn't end up with the girl. Aw well, maybe that's one of the side effects (har har har).Overall, disappointing sequel, but good, almost very good in fact, movie.

Here is Why I Think This Movie is Stupid!

posted on 19 Jun 2009

I have just watched this movie & found it really Really Stupid!!!!!! I don't know what the heck was wrong with the first life he teleported into!! Just because his wife layed some very light insults on him he teleported into other place. To be honest with ya this movie was going good until the middle, and then fell off a 1000 stores into 10 miles hole wide underground. Its more of a love story then there is anything to do with the real Butterfly Effect + he seems to have tasted a horrible Nightmare & pain in his first life, how can he pass on all that for some stupid business he was convinced on leaving? I would add something the end was very very predictable that it made me sick to my stomach totally ignoring the fact that that his child may posses any powers!

Worst sequel ever

posted on 19 Jun 2009

Basically, this is one of the worst sequels i have ever seen. It has the exact same elements as the first one and very similar scenerios. The actors are terrible, with the exception of Erica Durance, and it wasn't nearly as interesting as the first one. The movie is about a man who can go into the past to change or alter and even that took place. The same thing happens in the first one. Instead of using a journal he uses pictures much like Evan's father did. However, the movie doesn't explain the main characters past and leaves the audience wondering when he developed this ability. You do not get to know the character as well as you did in the first one and its harder to get into the movie because of this.

Hmmm that's what I believe

posted on 07 Jun 2009

Hello guys. I've just watched BE2 and I believe it's not good enough too. I mean that it lacks in many fields compared to the first, like story, special effects, quality and and time(it's really short). However, the actors did their best. I love Erica Durance: Not only does she have a perfect body (and sweet and tempting face) but she acts fantastic. If you like, you can watch Smallville where she plays Lois. She is really amazing. Anyway, this sequel is an offense to its name and I hope there would be another worthy film to see. Well, let's be more specific. I agree that sex scenes were not necessary(as some guys mentioned) but i feel that if the scenario was developed more, child reference wouldn't be needed.I liked the point where Nick is searching for information about his "illness" and he finds a picture of a BE1 character(I think Evan's father).I think it would be interesting to see such references to the original Butterfly effect in a possible new one.

i've brought my own favourite candle...

"Can You Change Your Past Without Destroying Your Future?" --- Tagline For "The Butterfly Effect 2"

posted on 16 May 2009

"The Butterfly Effect 2" (2006)Directed By: John R. LeonettiStarring: Eric Lively, Erica Durance, Dustin Milligan, & Gina HoldenMPAA Rating: "R" (for violence, sexuality and language)I know that I might be in the minority when I say this, but I never enjoyed "The Butterfly Effect". I found it to be a drab, depressing movie that, despite excellent performances and an intriguing concept, ultimately did not click somewhere. So, I didn't particularly care to see this straight-to-video sequel. If I didn't even care for the movie that actually made it to theaters, why would I care for the one that didn't? But, deciding to do my job (and deciding that seeing Erica Durance is always worth my time), I chose to give it a chance. So, what did I think about it? Well, I had very profound mixed feelings: The Good: The movie actually surpasses its predecessor. The performances are well done and believable. Erica Durance has plenty of screen time. The movie is actually fun to watch. Erica Durance has plenty of screen time (Oh wait…). The Bad: The amazing concept is not used to its full extent…yet again. The ending is abrupt, tacked-on, and completely uninspired. It's an unnecessary sequel to an unnecessary film. The initial love relationship that propels the plot is a little cheesy and forced. Did I mention how bad the ending was?Nick Larson (Lively) has everything he could ever want: a beautiful girlfriend, Julie (Durance), and a job that is going nowhere but up…until a tragic car accident leaves Julie and their two best friends dead. Afterwards, Nick realizes that, through his memories, he can travel back in time and does in order to save his friends, especially Julie. But, when he does, he messes everything else up. As he races to make things right again, he discovers that you can't change one thing…without changing everything. Where have I heard this plot before? Oh wait, it was the exact same plot used in "The Butterfly Effect"! This sequel is really more of a remake, but, naturally, as "The Butterfly Effect" is so recent, a sequel makes more sense. Really, who wants to see a remake of a movie that was released only two years ago? Well, if you desire to watch "The Butterfly Effect 2", then you clearly do. Don't let the "2" tagged on at the end of the title fool you. This is a remake."The Butterfly Effect 2" is a mixed bag. On one hand, it actually beat its predecessor for me due to the lack of the depressing, overly-serious plot twists that just didn't seem to click. This movie is far more entertaining and a far lighter watch than the original…and that is a good thing. The performances, especially those from Eric Lively and Erica Durance, are well-rounded, competent performances that are too good for a straight-to-video release. On the other hand, the ending leaves way too much to be desired. It didn't work for me and it didn't gel. It also, like the original, became a tad redundant. We knew that, every time he changed something, it would not work out well for him and something would go horribly wrong. Overall, this is a movie that worked somewhat…but not completely. If you hated the original, then you may find this to be better, but, if you were a fan, then you will probably find this to be a little too light for your enjoyment. It didn't take itself as seriously and some of you may not like this. I did.Final Thought: Though better than the original for me, "The Butterfly Effect 2" is still only semi-effective.Overall Rating: 5/10 (B-)

This movie is waste of time!!!!!!!!

posted on 04 May 2009

Nothing more to say really. It is pointless and absolutely shallow movie! Try to avoid it as much as you can. It is better to use the time you would spend on this movie to sleep or do anything... Characters are shallow. Story is almost non existing. Plot is naive and badly written, actors are not so good to be generous. Only purpose of this "movie" was to get some more money out of the story they used in first part and I really hope they failed in that at least as much as they failed in making this movie worth seeing. For this movie they should give you your money back and apologise. All in all when you see this title on the shelf just put it back and take something else. Whatewer!

Not as terrible as it seems

posted on 12 Apr 2009

FYI: There are some mild spoilers. There are movies out there that are far more horrible than Butterfly Effect 2, and I feel this doesn't fall into that category.Sure it's not perfect, what falls flat with the sequel isn't the acting, or even the way the characters interacted with each other, it's the movie's inability to delve more into the powers as opposed to just dealing with the consequences of it (and it's likely due because we've seen what it is capable of in the original). The little research Nick did on alternate realities in association to migraines and finding a newspaper clipping of Evan's father's sickness was a good touch but like I said, I wished they had explored that angle further.Instead, they took the romance angle, which was fine but they could've done more. At the end, it gave me the distinct impression that Butterfly Effect 2 was a setup for something else. As if they needed to show this movie before really getting into something more. And Eric Lively is a capable actor, and Erica Durance did well with the material she's given. It ain't rocket science so I don't hold them to standards of the critical kind. I'm just glad that I wasn't rolling my eyes at their scenes much like when I did watching Cursed or Alone in the Dark.

Back to the Future

posted on 06 Apr 2009

"Sequel to the 2003 cult movie in which a person can change the past via remembering their forgotten memories due to blackouts", says the plot synopsis re this film, and I adopt that summary for my comment. Perhaps I had an advantage in not viewing the 2003 picture and therefore no chance to compare it unfavorably. The film is science fiction/fantasy and there is no need to have seen the original as this story stands on its' own so to speak. In any event this movie is quite good and centers on a group of 4 friends and what happens when one of them can change the past and hence the future. It is also a story about love and loss and sacrifice. In my opinion all the actors give interesting and convincing performances.I thought the various scenario's where the past was changed were well done and the ultimate conclusion in the play satisfactory.6/10.

Sequels Don't Rip Off The Plot From The First Movie

posted on 06 Apr 2009

The first movie set up a great sequel by noting that the father had pictures he drew that he could flashback with and we were left to guess he must have painted himself into a corner by flashing back to a time when he didn't have any pictures left. It'd be better if the sequel focused on that instead. It doesn't.This pointless sequel doesn't even relate to the first movie except for the father's face in a newspaper article during an internet search. It seems just like a retelling of the exact same plot except it's as if nobody cared about how the movie would turn out. It does have lots of terrible acting, awful effects ranging from an obviously fake scar to editing effects that don't add to the movie, overly predictable writing which enables you to guess most things before they happen and so many dull moments that last for so long it's a wonder if anything made it to the cutting room floor. The movie starts off being slightly worse than a made for TV movie and then fails to maintain or rise from that level. Pretend it doesn't exist.

The Sh*terfly Defect 2.

This film is the reason why one should in general avoid sequels at all costs. The original wasn't all that great; this piece of "film-making" makes one wonder if anyone with a brain in their head was involved in the production. Terrible. Absolutely f...n terrible. A previous commentator lamented on this site that they didn't shoot enough film to make this movie a good one. I would argue that no amount of film could have saved this wretched thing. In fact, the producers should have saved all of film used on this time-waster to shoot anything except this movie ... anything except this movie (please).A horrid nonsensical mess that all involved should dis-associate themselves from if they value their careers, a film produced only to cash in on the questionable value of this "franchise".Let's hope its the last we hear from it. To be avoided like the pox.

lame in name only sequel

posted on 21 Mar 2009

Nick Larson is devastated when his lover and friends are killed in a car accident. One year later, he finds that he can go back in time to change history. Having nothing at all to do with the Ashton Kutcher vehicle, this in name only sequel isn't nearly as edgy or dark. In fact the movie is tame, lifeless, and void of any real reason to watch it at all. Competently directed, but horribly written and full of glaring plot-holes. But for Michael Weiss (I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, Death Train, Octopus) that's par for the course. If you told me a few days back that I'd wish for anything with Kutcher in it, I'd have called you crazy. However, that's exactly what I long for. Stick with the original film and skip this pathetic attempt to quickly cash in on the name.My Grade: D DVD Extras: Audio commentary by Director John Leonetti & co-producer Micheal Stirling; 'on the set of' featurette; Promo trailer; and Trailers for "Butterfly Effect", "Snakes on a Plane", "Undisputed 2", "Take the Lead", "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Rest Stop", & "Nightmares & Dreamscapes"

Wait for HBO to show it

Not sure if this will contain a spoiler or not, but, just in case. I gave this movie a 6 only because of the premise of the story, being able to go back to ones own past and change it. thats where it ends. the movie was a shallow sequel (if one wants to call it a sequel)It really had nothing to do with the first movie, different characters, different story line, etc. The special FX were cool, the acting...on a scale of 1-10, give the actors a 7. Not horrible, not great and I thought Ashton wasn't any good until I saw Bitterfly Effect 1! These actors seem to be right out of acting school! Shallow, unconvincing, almost expressionless. I, like another reviewer wondered why this film never saw the theater, I now know. For your money, rent a different film and wait for this to show on cable.

Poor story

posted on 27 Feb 2009

I never saw Butterfly Effect until yesterday which I saw it first before the second movie. I really liked the first one that I had to watch the second movie. But I was disappoint. I would never decide to shoot the movie if I read the manuscript. The story was so boring. Nothing that makes me want to stay whole movie, but I was very very patient. The worst of all, is the main actor. He doesn't seem to know how to act. He was so numb all of the time and didn't seem to feel anything else. Not even for his girlfriend.Whatever the budget they got to make the movie, is no excuse for that horrible boring movie. Personally I'm sure anywho good director could make far better movie with less budget. I wish Hollywood made more searching for good directors.

Better than I thought it would be

Okay, this movie is on of the few that go straight to a DVD and you wonder why: They aren't as good as most movies.... I was very surprised of this movie though. It was way better than I expected! Erica Durance had some very good acting and I liked how all the scenes played out. If you don't watch movies that go straight to DVD than you should give this one a chance...it's actually really good. There's not many ways you could have had a second Butterfly Effect 2 and had it not resemble the first one so much but this one def did have it's own story line and it was somewhat different. You should def watch it because I think it's worth watching. You won't be disappointed! :)
