Be Afraid Of The Future
Believe the unbelievable
Reality is a thing of the past.
What is The Matrix?
Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.
Perception: Our day-in, day-out world is real. Reality: That world is a hoax, an elaborate deception spun by all-powerful machines of artificial intelligence that control us. Whoa.
The Future isn't user friendly...[Australian Poster]
The Matrix has you.

The Future Will Not Be User Friendly
The World's population thinks it's real. On March 31st, they will see the "Real World".
In the near future, a computer hacker named Neo (Keanu Reeves) discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than an elaborate facade created by a malevolent cyber-intelligence, for the purpose of placating us while our life essence is "farmed" to fuel the Matrix's campaign of domination in the "real" world. He joins like-minded Rebel warriors Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) and Trinity (Carrie Ann Moss) in their struggle to overthrow the Matrix.

WHUT WAS THIS?
posted on 31 Aug 2009Honestly I hated this movie because Kenu was much better in Bill and Ted, I know this guy can do a LOT better! The digital efx seemed kinda fake (I've even seen better ones on some music videos on MTV...)The story was MADE for wanna be intelletualish pranks! And for all of you mega fans (specially the ones that compare Matrix to Star Wars) that are gonna bash this review with negative rating please take out Eraserhead and learn!
Two Thumbs Up from a Non Sci Fi Guy
posted on 31 Aug 2009 As annoying as Keanu C. Reeves can be, this is his ultimate role! The 44 year old Canadian actor whose middle name is Charles plays Neo who is most unlike his character in the 1989 comedy Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
Released in 1999 and written and directed by the Wachowski brothers this film takes the viewer into a dismal future for mankind in the year 2199. As ubiquitous as today's World Wide Web is, this film goes in a direction that takes electronic machines and their artificial intelligence to the extreme in which they take captive 99% of humanity.
As dependent on machines, the internet and technology as we are - could all of that become greater than us and in turn rely on us for its survival? You decide, this movie is in my personal top three movies I have ever seen!
Whoa...Dude, that was a trip.
posted on 30 Aug 2009This movie is impossible to describe. I never ever ever thought I'd ever be impressed by Keanu Reeves, but he was very good, and the special effects have to be seen to be believed. This movie may well supplant Austin Powers as my all-time favorite.
You will watch this...over and over again !!!
posted on 30 Aug 2009It is hard...I have seen this movie twice already...but is not enough, I wanna buy it, and belive me, you will wanna buy it too. What really is the MATRIX? Anybody knows? This are only two questions but wait `till you see the movie. You`ll have soooo many questions, than you`ll not be able to sleep...what`s more, it ( the thoughts )will make you get out your bed, get on top of a building, and jump on the next building...OK, I know, I am going a little too far, but you watch the movie, YOU WILL question everything and everybody... Anyway, Keanu is playing as a hacker, and there are some scenes in the movie that makes you recall "Johnny Mnemonic"...but, Keanu soon realizes that everything and everybody that sourrounds him is ...not real! whoa...it is not an everyday kinda deal...What`s more, he finds out that he is the so called "choosen one" to save the world...Save it from what?...or from whom?...Well, I am not here to tell you the whole story, but one thing is for sure: you will love this movie, the story, the fights, the special effects...just give it a chance! As far as I am concerned, this movie deserves 10 out of 10...go see it, go buy it but don`t miss it !!!
The "Star Wars" of the 90's
posted on 30 Aug 2009"The Matrix" is arguably the most imaginative Science Fiction vision ever brought to life on the big screen. Combine that vision with incredible action, special effects and acting, and you have a movie that transcends its genre. The Matrix, like Star Wars was in 1977, is 5-10 years ahead of its time. Is it Science Fiction? Mythology? An action film? You decide. Once again, like Star Wars, I feel that it's a combination of all three. Like Star Wars, it's a perfect 10/10. And like Star Wars (and Blade Runner), it will become a cult classic in the years to come. Superlative, imaginative filmmaking. If you haven't seen it yet, prepare yourself for the ride of your life.
What is the Matrix? Well, one of the best films ever, for one thing...
posted on 30 Aug 2009The Matrix...when I first heard about it, I expected just another sci-fi action thriller. Good and filled with insane stunts, but not terribly intelligent.Boy, was I wrong. Oh, the stunts are there in spades, all right, and yes, they are awesome. And the special effects are absolutely amazing (even if similar ones have been used in other movies as a result- and not explained as well). But the movie has plot as well. It has characters that I cared about. From Keanu Reeves' excellent portrayal of Neo, the man trying to come to grips with his own identity, to Lawrence Fishburne's mysterious Morpheus, and even the creepy Agents, everyone does a stellar job of making their characters more than just the usual action "hero that kicks butt" and "cannon fodder" roles. I cared about each and every one of the heroes, and hated the villains with a passion. It has a plot, and it has a meaning...and lo and behold, a plot does help the fight scenes! Just try it, if you haven't seen the movie before. Watch one of the fight scenes. Then watch the whole movie. There's a big difference in the feeling and excitement of the scenes- sure, they're great as standalones, but the whole thing put together is an experience unlike just about everything else that's come to the theaters. Think about it next time you're watching one of the more brainless action flicks...think how much better it COULD be.All I can say is WATCH THIS MOVIE. If you haven't, you're missing out on one of the best films of all time. It isn't just special effects, folks.
truly awesome movies

All three movies in this trilogy is good. I don't care if you hate it and dilikes them because they're unrealistic. It's called movies people, it can be unrealistic so quit bitching. If you like action movies buy all three now. I love these kind of movies so I enjoy them very much. Nothing's never gonna change what I feel about these movies period. You can say what you want people about them, I don't care. The special effects are mindblowing and the music is very good. All actors does an very good job being their characters. The only thing I don't like is the ending in the final film. I won't say anything if you haven't seen it yet. For me this is truly the best in the action genre. I can't name one movie that's better then Matrix. Enjoy them as movies and all ya haters....GET LOST!!. Thank you for your time people. Pat Sahl
Overwhelming!
posted on 28 Aug 2009I don't have any flowery words or phrases to describe this movie, but just one comment. I usually go out for a smoke in the middle "lull" of a movie. This flick had me completely glued to my seat! I was amazed at the great story, pretty good acting, and special effects that cannot even be properly described. It's plot was complex enough that it didn't spell everything out for you, but not so complex that it got confusing. It was an awesome flick! Great entertainment...everyone should see it.
maybe we are in a matrix after all!
posted on 28 Aug 2009I went to see this movie with my two kids (13,10) and three other grown ups, we had a great time! The audience was mostly mature and we surely laugh a lot. The following week my kids asked if we could see it again, so we went, seeing the movie for the second time made me realise the hidden subtleties; this time it was a very young audience at the theatre and they did not laugh much, for them it seems to be a more serious affair. To observe this was very interesting. What I like about the movie apart from the cast and the effects is the fact that the heroes look like everyday people, there is no glamour in them, they are good looking people, but normal; their clothes aren't very good, the buildings where they do their dealings don't look like mansions. I like the fact that the top guy is a black man, and that the tough guy is a girl, and that the hero is a bit dumb, and that the main computer/driver/operator looks very Latino! In general I don't like violent movies, with lots of guns and stuff like that; however, this movie blows the usage of those artifacts to such a level that cannot be viewed seriously. The story line reminds me of Teachings of Don Juan and all those books (Carlos Castaneda), which made me like the movie even more.Where is everything? And if everything is there where is there? And apparently through quantum physics we are becoming more aware of NOTHING and the POWER of NOTHINGNESS, and the more we look into tiny matter the more this matter seems to not be there, maybe we are in a matrix after all!
A sci-fi classic!
posted on 28 Aug 2009Some of the best visuals and editing in a film I have seen in a while. I expected a non-stop, action packed meaningless film before watching this movie. But after two viewings I got to realize how deep this movie really is. The biblical references were very interesting. Keaunu Reeves represented Jesus. The plot, though confusing, was orignal and intriguing. Cant wait for the sequels, may clear up some questions lingering in my head.
best movie 99
posted on 28 Aug 2009Great story ( a little too difficult for many people) Great action Great FX Great Art direction Great acting Perfect rhythm Great two-hands direction If you liked this movie the first time you'll like more the next.I think that this movie deserved some nominations more,
Very sweet!
posted on 28 Aug 2009The matrix is one of the best sci-fi movies ever. It's remarkarbly unique and different and is a weird but wonderful movie. With a bunch of zany, wacky weird creatures (such as those octopus machine things) and interesting characters such as agent smith (Hugo Weavings) give this movie so much difference to your average one. Probably takes the award for the most uniquness. The way the film looks is unbelievable as well. Dont forget to watch this!81%
Get the DVD version, it is the best!
posted on 27 Aug 2009Of course "The Matrix" was the greatest movie of 1999 and the special effects were awesome! If you are thinking of buying this movie, I highly recommend the DVD version. The effects are much more effective and will pull you right out of your chair. Of course, combine this with a good sound system as well, and this is about as close as you can get to seeing it in the theater. If you don't have a DVD player, I recommend you buy one just for this movie!
The coolest movie I have seen in a long time.
posted on 26 Aug 2009This movie is the best combination of storyline and special efects I have seen in a long time. The only thing that was missing was true character development. It was so fast paced, it seemed like the whole movie took place in a couple of real time days. Time only enough to get a glimpse of each character. 2 1/2 hours seemed like 45 minute rollercoster ride. I am looking foward to the sequels.
Everything is just right....
posted on 26 Aug 2009..from the acting to the soundtrack, to the visual effects, to all the twists...I just loved the fact that I could; FOR ONCE; watch a sci-fi movie and actually *understand* it the first time around. But what I loved the most is how this flick takes you to another world. A world where being the lead character requires you to do the hardest things, because they're the right things. Like Blade Runner's Ford and "5th Element's" Willis, this movie takes you to another world; futuristic and intense. How cool was it to refer to having 'deja-vu' as experiencing a glitch in the Matrix. "It's when they change something", Moss replies. That was cool! Not sure about the plot holes, though. I didn't realize there were any.I *do* think there could've been a lot less "gun" violence...the White Zombie song playing in the background while Reeves and Moss blow away innocent people could've easily been playing during martial arts scenes or the slow-motion 'dodge-the-bullet' moves.Either way, 'The Matrix' is a 9.5 out of 10.
Looks good but no people
posted on 25 Aug 2009This flick is all computerized special effects and characters who are as bloodless as the computers. That is, the effects are fun but the people are of little concern, since they have no reality -- being involved instead with leaping great distances through the air, walking on walls, and dodging bullets. The plot seems to involve the premise that everyboy has been created or controlled by a computer somewhere. The principals, who may be human beings, lie about hooked up to a computer aboard some sort of vehicle. What we see on the screen appears to be what's going on in their brains. Then there are other human-like creatures trying to hunt them down. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburn sort all this out.

posted on 25 Aug 2009One fine day, I decided to have a break from my usual routine. I was thinking then, "where will I go?". Out of nowhere, i found myself buying my plane ticket off to Amazon City, described by others as "The city that never sleeps". Hearing good things about the city, curiosity immensely grew from my head. And I told myself, I've got to see that place as soon as possible. Now here I am, lining in queue along with the others, passing security checks, hoping to see it as we get off the ground aboard an airbus.
As we reached the tarmac of the airport, a shuttle bus is waiting on the side of the runway. As we walk down the stairs of the plane, I felt the excitement with the air passing through my skin. Gasping some breath, "this is it!" I told myself. And the shuttle bus made its way to Veniz Hotel, my temporary home away from home. I took a room at the 10th floor, hoping to have a bird's eyeview of the whole city. As I unpack my things from my luggage, I felt hungry from a two (2) hour plane ride. I left my room and decided to have a walk, to look for some place to eat in. As I was standing at the hotel's lobby, a bellboy asked me if I wanted a taxi ride. And I said "no, thank you. I'll just walk to have the feel of being in a strange city" and I left.
From the hotel, I walked to my right as I read the street sign that says, TO TARGET MALL===>. After ten (10) mins. of walking, at last, I got a glimpse of the mall. And there, I had my late lunch in an italian diner. The food was great, ambience is good and the best thing, all in a reasonable price. After an hour, I went out to have my cigar break, and I saw this park across Target Mall. I was astounded to see these stalls selling different items. I wasn't able to refuse the urge of buying somethings for myself. With all those plastic bags of goods I bought, I took a taxi ride back to the hotel. As I was having coffee at the hotel's cafe, I asked the waiter if he knows a bar that I could visit after dinner. And he said, "I know a place sir, it's the Suth bar, located at Appetite St. cor. Wellness St. just after you pass the Amazon Hospital. Wellness St. is at the northside of the hospital (hospital's main entrance is at EDR St.)".
As soon as I finished my dinner, I took a cab and told him to bring me to Suth bar. On our way to the bar, I saw this building full of lights on its facade, and I realized it was the City Hall of Amazon. Great lights, I told myself. We turn left on Amazon Ave. where I saw this huge fountain located at the heart of the city. We pass along the Public Library, and adjacent to the city hall is the famous St. Peter's Cathedral. It was beautifully structured, with those life-size statues guarding the whole cathedral, not to mention those lights that were giving its panoramic view to its best. From Amazon Ave., on the east side of the church, we turn right on Appetite St. and it took us five (5) mins. to get to Suth bar. And I enjoyed my night in that resto bar, what a night!
At around 9 a.m., my cell phone rang and it was my boss! He was asking me to report that day because of some important matters. I told him I was on leave, and I'm far from home. He begged and promised to give me a vacation with pay after I settle his concerns. Not bad, I thought. I packed my things and hopped to a cab. I told the cab driver to take me to St. Peter's Cathedral to pay visit before we go to the airport. And that's the only vacation I had last year. Hoping to come back this year without my cell phone.

Stunning computeranimations
posted on 31 Aug 2009When you see this movie, you'll notice that it has a large amount of special effects.
It already starts with the intro. There are highly rendered environments such as when she jumps up in the air and the camera circulates around her. Another example of effects is when the agent and the women make a huge jump over 2 buildings.
An also cool effect is that when the agents are avoiding the bullets from a weapon. You see half shadowed the bodys from them moving around. It's real cool to see that kind of stuff.
All by all is this a really good movie with superior special effects. It's a MUST to see this.
