PLOT SUMMARY

Homer adopts a pig who's run away from Krusty Burger after Krusty tried to have him slaughtered, naming the pig "Spider Pig." At the same time, the lake is protected after the audience sink the barge Green Day are on with garbage after they mention the environment. Meanwhile, Spider Pig's waste has filled up a silo in just 2 days, apparently with Homer's help. Homer can't get to the dump quickly so dumps the silo in the lake, polluting it. Russ Cargill, the villainous boss of the EPA, gives Arnold Schwarzenegger 5 options, forcing him to choose 4 (which is, unfortunately, to destroy Springfield) and putting a dome over Springfield to prevent evacuation. Homer, however, has escaped, along with his family. Can he stop the evil Cargill from annihilating his home town, and his family, who have been forced to return to Springfield?

Don't believe the hype. This movie was lame!

posted on 28 Aug 2009

I went in this movie with low expectations and that is what I got nothing to be excited about. Now why do all of these Simpson die hard fan zombies give this movie a 9 out of 10 on the IMDb 10 star rating systems. I would give it a 5 out of 10 and I too love the Simpsons (especially the 1993-1997 seasons, but it has gone down hill big time since then). This movie was another lame episode and it seemed like a mess. Plus, why advertise the Homer chasing a donut graphic on Fox and yet he doesn't touch one donut the entire movie.Plus seeing Bart's wee was disgusting. It was a cheap way of hyping this movie. And now I am debating is this worth buying on DVD? I still don't know. I am a Simpson's die hard fan and I feel like this will be blasphemy if I don't buy this on DVD, but yet this movie wasn't very good.Anyways, now bring out the people in large groups on IMDb who can't think for themselves or they are really Fox workers posting tons of reviews that are far from accurate. This will be the best movie of the summer according to the zombies/payed reviewers, but once it comes out on DVD everyone will say what I am saying now. This movie sucked! South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut was a bit better, but that movie was lame too. Pretty much adult oriented cartoons should stick to being TV shows not movies. Or maybe a live action version would work for a movie since everyone wants to see real people as the characters. I would have rather seen a live action version of the Simpsons or Beavis and Butt-head than another Simpsons episode that was on the big screen.

This Is The Best Movie Ever!

I loved this film!I could make no sense of what was going to happen from the trailers and and couldn't see how they were going to fit all of that stuff into 90 minutes. But they did.I saw this with several on its first showing at my cinema with a dozen of my friends who are all aged between 14 and 15 and a theatre full of 7 year old on a day trip but its safe to say we laughed a hell of a lot more than they did. The film got a PG rating by the skin of its teeth in my opinion due to the sex references and violence (especially the Itchy and Scratchy Movie at the start.)I don't care is it isn't suitable for a family trip out. This film is perfect for an older audience and thats what the Simpson's should be for 10 year old's and over.I was slightly disappointed that some of the greatest one episode characters didn't show up e.g Kang and Kodos, Hank Scorpio and The father and son carnies (who's names escape me.) i also thought that Spider-Pig should have had a MUCH bigger part.So to sum up: See this film if: -You like the Simpson's -You are over 10 -You don't want to be known as 'The Guy That Missed The Simsons Movie'Bring on the Sequel!

This movie exceeded expectations.the plot, script and animation were great.the only fact was that they don't give characters like Mr Burns, krusty, smithers, patty, selma, melhouse, apu, chief wiggum and the bullies enough lines.but anyways it was hilarious especially in the beginning Bart is writing on the chalk board "You will not download this movie illiegly".adding greenday was a good touch.Even the spider-pig and harry plopper jokes are really.funny.grand theft walrus on the other hand wasn't that funny This movie really deserves to be on IMDb's top 250 list.over all this was a great movie.just don't let kids under 12 watch it.i give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5.

In one word: TRASH

Sorry folks, I had no way to rate it lower than 1.WAKE UP America - your own people are turning against your children and stealing their childhood and filling their minds with trash.Doesn't it bother the producers of Simpsons that they are stealing values from America and filling it with trash like Bart? How can they sleep at night and how can they look at themselves in the mirror? Where is the value in showing that Bart addresses his father by his first name? Where is the value in showing that Homer, the father, has an IQ that is lower than the number of family members? I guess they themselves are like Homer - who have missed the meaning of life and find pleasure in senseless talk - Emptyminded. The producers of Simpsons have shown that they don't care what they are doing to their surroundings - just like a pig pays no attention to its environs - its sole purpose in life is to eat.Why must mankind let its constituents create corpulent problems and then spend tax dollars trying to fix these problems? Why can't we learn from mistakes like smoking and alcoholism and halt "Corruption of America" before it becomes an insurmountable problem? If we stop watching shows like Simpsons, they will be taken off the air and later we won't have to expend our time, money and efforts trying to undo the damage caused by someone's bad judgment.WAKE UP America.

The Biggest Reason To Continue Not Watching

The more and more I saw previews for The Simpsons, the more I looked forward to seeing this movie. However, what looked promising only turned out to be a terrible, terrible movie. Here's my suggestion: Watch the trailer for the movie. The trailer covers just about the entire storyline which is paper thin at best. The set up into each joke was far too predictable and hard to laugh at when I knew it was coming. Spider-pig, naked Bart, Homer sledding... every major joke was covered in the trailer and it made it near impossible to laugh at.There's a reason why the last time I watched this show was sometime last decade and this movie only cements the fact that I have no desire to ever see another Simpson's episode for the rest of time. The most significant part of the movie? The very beginning. Why? Because Homer (or Matt Groening) summed it up best for us that we're all fools for paying to see something in theatre we see at home on the TV for free. With all that said, please, do yourself a favor and do not watch this movie.

this movie was awful

i don't know who you people are or what you know about the Simpsons, but they utterly and fantastically DESTROYED the Simpsons as we knew them! Yes the animation was improved compared to the television series, but who the in the world expected it to be the same?! the fact of the matter is the characters interactions were moderatley low, the ambient background extras were down and out the worst animated loops I've EVER seen (not even in the show do they do loops like that, seriously who hired these idiot animators)did anyone else notice that they skipped from animating on 1's to like 4's for no reason at all?! the plot, oh my god, whoever said that plot was good or original or inventive or just plain smart is a down out IDIOT! I have never seen such a generic, rushed and sloppy, thrown together plot in a movie for years. The Simpsons have had 20 years on the tele, how the hell didn't they think of a plot to do in that much time?! "hey bill wanna write the Simpsons movie and make it really good and funny?" "No Ted, why don't we just rush it ad NO FUNNY jokes and make it about the town exploding, while we are at it why not just fill the advertisements with propaganda which makes people want to see it, and leave them totally unfulfilled?" "I like your thinking, you should work for the government"Okay I covered Plot and Bad animation, oh yes profiles.Since when did the Simpsons ever show Bart drinking alcohol?! HES 10 YEARS OLD what the hell! why don't we just throw in some hookers and blackjack!?The main character that they destroyed was the main character Homer... Never in any kind of episode was Homer ever this selfish and self-centered, the writers must have been stuck and thought "i know! We can make Homer stupidly overly selfish and go on from there!" What were they thinking?!throughout the entire movie i laughed possibly twice, once was at spider pig (always has been funny but i saw that on the adverts so it wasn't really too funny. and another time i cant remember)I seriously considered crashing my car on the way home from the movie theatre so something interesting would happen.L2P FOX 0/10

This Movie Deserves #1! Forget Godfather!

This is one of the best animated cartoon movies I have seen in my life so far. Nothing can surpass what makes this movie great. This movie was romantic, exciting, dramatic, and one hundred billion percent funny. So far, I don't see any bad reviews of this movie. Well, I think I saw one. I think this is going to be higher in the rank of IMDb's top 250.So far, one of the top adult cartoon shows that are shown on Comedy Central, Fox, and Adult Swim. They are Family Guy, South Park, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and the Simpsons. This movie is quite appropriate for children excluding these things; When Bart Simpson's penis was shown, and when Homer and Marge was having sex, although they didn't show them, there was bed making noises and animals watching, shocked and disgusted. But that was one of the funniest things ever. I loved when Mr. Flanders said, "I bless God for this wonderful," then Bart Simpson jumped toward the window of the Krusty Burger Place and Flanders looked as he spoke, "wonderful Penis!" and his children repeated. It was so funny.I have never went to the theaters hearing an audience laugh this hysterical. Also, the "To Be Continued" really had me worried. I heard someone say "That's boring!" which I didn't know if it was the movie or in real life, but that was funny. I love how Lisa finally found a boyfriend who loves her and believes in everything she says. Absolutely romantic. I also love how Marge left Homer and recorded a video saying so over the wedding video, but Homer proved himself to be a better husband by saving Springfield and on his motorcycle, grabbed Marge and she rode with him kissing saying, "That was the best kiss in my life," and Homer replied, "The best kiss in your life so far!" Absolutely romantic. Ah.What is the plot you might ask? I leave you to find out for yourself because it is too exciting to describe. Although, another review might had said it but take my advice. If you know the ending and the entire plot and how Springfield was in danger before watching the movie, it will totally suck. Though, little things don't matter such as I read in the IMDb message board that Dr. Nick dies. I didn't really care.I recommend this movie to everyone in the entire world.

South Park Already Did It.

Funny how long we had to wait to finally watch the Simpsons' family on the big screen : whereas all the TV shows have now extremely rapidly their own movie adaptation (including "South Park" after only two seasons), Matt Groening waited almost twenty years (his yellow family first appeared in "The Tracey Ullman Show" in 1987 !) to bring us "The Simpsons Movie". And hopefully, it was worth the waiting. At the beginning of the movie, Homer Simpson yell at the "Itchy and Scratchy Movie" screening he went to see with his family : "Why do we have to pay to watch something we can get for free on TV ?". Well, like Kramer once said in a "Seinfeld" episode : "Why going in a four stars restaurant while you can eat all by yourself cheat pasta in your apartment ? Why riding horses on LSD while you can sleep peacefully in your bed ?". "The Simpsons Movie" is nevertheless bigger, larger and uncut compared to a twenty minutes episode, but the script compiles the best jokes "The Simpsons" could offer without a pause, when the direction of the movie, assured by David "Monster, Inc." Silverman is a real cinema one and looks technically very impressive on the big screen : so, no matter what, "The Simpsons Movie" is a real theater experience. But the great achievement of the movie is to look both original and sincere and true to the spirit of the show : it almost looks like a "best of", but only with new materials. The movie is for instance, like the show, very clever and subversive in its jokes and details (the appearance of President Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Al Gore's movie parody, etc.) but ultimately very conformist and American in its moral and ending (the family is the most important thing in the world). And it's certainly this mixture of conformism in the subversion that allowed the show its wide audience and its worldwide success. The critic is here, but tempered by the message and morality of the movie. All this will certainly pleased the Simpson's fans, or people like me, how lost their tracks years ago and are very happy to see that Homer is still inconstant and stupid or Mr. Burns still rich and mean. It almost make me want to take a look at the last season, and sure make me wait for, like Maggie said, a "sequel".

It actually works

To me The Simpsons died with Phil Hartman and Troy McClure and have jumped the shark seven times since the year 2000. However the 90's episodes were beyond brilliance. I own all the seasons of the DVD and I still laugh at them. Even though I am very annoyed by the current quality of the show I couldn't pass up an opportunity to see Homer on the big screen. I walked in expecting to be disappointed but to have a few laughs and I walked out pleasantly surprised and I laughed a lot.The plot is actually quite clever. Homer dooms Springfield by dumping a silo of crap from his beloved pig in the town's polluted lake. Russ Cargill, the head of the Enviormental Protection Agency states that Springfield must be cut off from the rest of the world because of it's high pollution and puts the city in a giant dome. Homer and his family escape the dome just before a lynch mob kills them. Homer takes the opportunity to take his family to his dream home,Alaska. The Simpsons seem to get used to their new life until a video starring Tom Hanks tells them that Springfield will be destroyed to create a new Grand Canyon(Apparently the old one wasn't generating tourism) Marge takes the kids back to save Springfield while Homer goes on a mystical journey with a Eskimo whose cleavage doesn't leave much to the imagination. Just as Cargill moves in to destroy the city, Homer comes back to save the day.I really was surprised by how clever the jokes were. Recently the age of The Simpsons writers has shown by their lack of being able to market to The Simpsons age group. The pop culture references on the show now are stale at best. Recently the show has been relying on stereotypes for humor. The movie reminded of the reason I loved the show in the first place, Homer. This is Homer's movie and rightfully so, he got the most laughs in the theater. Dan Castellaneta's performance is down right genius, he is able to salvage some of the weaker material and deliver it in a way that makes it funny. My one really disappointment with the movie is that A.Brooks doesn' reprise his role as Hank Scorpio. Scorpio fits Cargill's character traits perfectly and he is the most beloved guest star character after Sideshow Bob(Who also isn't in the movie. That was another huge let down!) The animation is great as well, Don't count 2-D out yet.

Poor

The Simpsons Movie, Summer 2007. Watching the trailer i was excited, the thought of homer causing Springfield trouble and having to fix it would be great, lots of interesting characters like Moe, Grounds Kepper Willy, and Mr Burns, looked to be involved and a wild homer scheming film would follow. The opening with Bart and Homer was excellent, the angered mob was funny which included Abe,,, However, the concept was poor and the Simpsons family escaping from Springfield was Dire the film quality Plummeted and reached it's true low when homer was in Alaska! The short film meant a short and boring story. it went strange and took a risky turn when homer was with the 'inuit' woman... the ending was very weak and unimpressive. Now here's how a successful Simpson's movie should go,,,Same beginning...But rather than escape Springfield Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie should unite and attempt to bring the town round to their side and scheme together to break out of the bubble, for instance, Moes Bar could play part as headquarters, Burns could fund it and provide power, Apu would become supplies...Etc...EtcThese are ideas and just my thoughts. i think it would be much better than the escaping, as it meant main and interesting characters were cut out, Sideshow bob should be involved. The secondary running story of Bart, homer, and Ned Flanders could still be included but would be better and more interesting if they stayed In Springield Great animation and drawing (some scenes weak however) and the comedy was average. The usually varied comedy including Subtle Clever Adult humour, and obvious children's gags, was weak, dull and monotone.I was very disappointed and was almost tempted to walk out of the cinema...i was pleased about the usual beginning and unorthodox credits including pictures of the characters... I was pleased to here the usual theme tune and opening scenes.it should of lasted much longer, and include all the ideas i've given. this would create a film worthy of the Simpson's title. i believe the writers were below par and Poor. It was an embarrassment to the Simpson's series.Sam Carr

Liked, but...

What DID happen to Spider Pig? If what seems to have had to have happened did, it belies one of the credits at the end of the movie. ;)Not nearly gay enough for a family movie (there are few things gayer than the nuclear family, in my estimation - I mean, Daddy, Son, House Mother...gay, gay, gay... ;) ). Of course, I did find it interesting that the two cops kissing got negative reactions, but that Ralphie was laughed at good-naturedly. Hmmm...At least it did NOT feel like three episodes pasted together, as I feared it might. The Fox jabs were not quite as pointed as they have been of late, though the two that DID appear were reasonably worthy and self-aware...

I don't do TeeVee, so my encounters with these are either through reader recommendations, the usual case, or when something has a movie theater incarnation. I wasn't aware of the great controversy about the genuineness of "The Simpsons" versus "South Park." I do know that when I watched that South Park movie and several of the episodes, I was impressed, I often laughed and I wasn't ashamed of why. It was the sort of humor that is clever and that allows you to share in its cleverness. This isn't clever in the big. In fact, it follows a Disney-inspired template: an unworthy man is redeemed, a boy reunites with his father. And this in the safest of Disney messages: give a hoot, and the government is evil. Noticeably absent is any business about media companies with huge budgets being evil. There used to be a bunch of this, I think: clowns and cartoons, dumping on TeeVee cartoons and cynical, manufactured humor. There used to be winks at the audience, a sort of: "this is a bit going after a stupid, trailer park laugh, and the funny thing about it will be the fact that we are doing it with both of us knowing it." Somewhere along the way, the show became a brand and when that happens you do everything you can to support the brand. Things like taking over convenience stores for advertising purposes. Would the early incarnation of this start with Bart writing "don't illegally download?" Would "South Park?"This isn't "The Simpsons" any more; its "The Flintstones." It has become trailerpark without the wink.Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.

I don't know....I just don't know.

Just got out of the theater. Don't get me wrong, I was entertained throughout the duration of the film. But I rarely got any belly laughs out of it. And I just wanted it to be...well, smarter and funnier. The animation and production values are awesome. Just seeing Springfield and all the characters on the big screen is enough to make this movie worth going to. But I was rather let down in terms of the comedy. It seemed like it was dumbed down to give it more mass appeal and that's disappointing. I also had annoying little kids sitting around me and their father refused to shut them up...which somewhat ruined the experience. The first 45 min are good, then it dips in humor. In conclusion, while the South Park movie took advantage of the new medium by pushing the envelope and producing hilarious, brilliant satire...The Simpsons Movie seems to do the opposite, getting watered down in the process.

A good effort

Ultimately I feel that Simpsons fans WILL be satisfied with this movie. The bottom line is, this movie is funny. The gags and one liners are pretty much what one would expect from the writers and the animation is quite good. If you like the show you will probably like the movie. That being said, I don't think there is anything really remarkable or special about this piece. I have heard the criticism, "It's just like one long episode," repeated over and over again. I don't think that's really the case here. In a lot of ways, I don't think there's really much of the same "feeling" that the episodes have. For a show that is driven by so many diverse characters, I would have expected more interaction and complexity. The plot is a standard morality tale focusing most of its energy and screen time on the Simpsons themselves. Although the movie is funny, it lacks the contribution of many of the characters that have made the show so enjoyable. The plot is far more outlandish than what most of the episodes offer, and I felt that this was somewhat off-putting. The post modern, self referential tone has begun to run thin. I gave this movie a 6, as I feel that it WAS indeed funny, but far to disorganized to warrant a higher score. See it, if only to lament how good the show used to be.

Best comedy of 2007 (so far)

posted on 16 Aug 2009

No other movie this year has had this sort of anticipation. The movie based on the biggest, funniest and most popular cartoon of the past three or four generations. After the series began it's 22 minute prime-time broadcasting, it grew in popularity and immediately the fans began talking about a possible movie creation. The producers themselves of the show have suggested it to themselves two or three times before, but the idea has always been shrugged off. So finally in 2003, they decided again, but this time it stuck. Much was kept tight-lipped, but they did let slip some screens of storyboards, voices, synopsis and then finally trailers featuring finished content for the movie. Simpsons pandemonium swept up everyone, as 7-11s turned into Kwik-E-Mart's, various American Springfields' battled each other for the premiere spot of the movie and everyone was heading back down to the theatres, despite the holidays being over. So, does The Simpsons Movie stack up to what was anticipated, does it please this young Simpson fan, is it just a great comedy animation in general? Yes. The Simpsons Movie is pretty much everything. It is not disappointing, it appeals to Simpsons fans and it is easily the best comedy of the year, beating out the mediocre Epic Movie, Hot Fuzz, Mr. Bean's Holiday and Knocked Up. The Simpsons Movie is also most definitely in the top ten funniest films in the past decade. It's back to comedic basics. It just tries to make you laugh and works perfectly, in timing, voicing, animation and delivery. It can be argued that their aren't enough jokes in the movie, or that some of the jokes are awkward or don't work as well as they should, but there are definitely plenty of jokes in the movie that work perfectly. The jokes also appeal to a mass of people. The slapstick (or just people getting hurt) is always the kids' favourite moments, the satirical jabs work for teenagers and the family issues and hilarity of how the characters act and react appeals to the older audiences. It really is hard to go into this movie and not laugh. The main complaint (if any) from mainly the fans is the lack of attention on some of the off-side, but popular characters, such as Moe, Mr. Burns, Apu, Chief Wiggum, whom get limited screen-time in the movie. This is true, as the movie focuses more on the actual Simpson characters, as well as a few new faces. These non-Simpson Simpson characters aren't in the movie that much, but when they are, it's a real treat. Not to mention all the characters that they remembered to put in the movie such as the Sea-Captain, Drederick Tatum, Ralph, Sideshow Mel, Kearney, Jimbo, Dolph, Nelson, Milhouse, Martin, Reverend Lovejoy, Principal Skinner, Barney, Itchy, Scratchy, Smithers, Professor Frink, Lou, Eddy, Gabbo, Dr. Nick, Dr. Hibbert, Grandpa Abe. That's just scraping the barrel of the bowl, so who's to say there aren't enough Simpson characters in the Simpsons movie. Onto the Simpsons characters themselves, Homer is the (very) main character here, with the story revolving very much around him. Not only does he conclude the conflict, but he also created the conflict as well. The rest of the family become more and more detached from him after he takes them all to Alaska after he pretty much destroys Springfield. Marge, despite sticking with Homer throughout so many ordeals in the show, feels very much unobliged to stick with him when he does not want to save Springfield from being properly destroyed. Bart no longer sees Homer as a fit father figure and throughout the movie continuously muses over the idea of having their neighbour Flanders as a more appropriate father. Lisa doesn't seem to be in this movie as much as the family, apart from the beginning and end when she tries to get the apathetic Springfield to react to the pollution in Lake Springfield and falls in love with a boy who is trying to do the same. The only Simpson character that sticks with Homer is the baby Maggie. Not to give too much away, but it's more than once in this movie does she save Homer's life. The Simpson Movie praises on being good ol' 2-D, in contrast to the furious swarm of 3-D movies being mass released recently. Despite this, it still manages to make some very impressive animation that excels far further than the television show. There are no longer any boundaries or limitations to what they can offer. In some scenes, it's amazing the amount of characters, landscape or objects are portrayed on the screen. It goes to show that 2-D can be just as amazing as 3-D.The Simpson Movie lives up to it's anticipations pretty well. Whether you're a die-hard fan, a general fan, like comedy movies or are just going along with someone who is one of the above, you'll most definitely enjoy this movie and laugh out loud a lot. This definitely isn't just a 22 minute episode stretched out to 87 (another complaint is the length of the movie. Too short for this post-Lord of the Ring crowd). This is the real deal. This is the movie we've all be waiting for 15 years. Everything about the show has been movie-fied for the movie. It even includes a lot of breaking of the fourth wall and referencing itself as being a movie (for example, Bart's chalkboard message is "I will not illegally download this movie". This is a great animation, comedy and Simpsons movie. An essential must-see. 8.9/10

Jokes are Fine, but It Should Have Been More

posted on 14 Aug 2009

Doesn't it suck how so many big event hyped-up movies are labelled with 'it could have been more' these days? But I guess that means when they get it right, its even more special. The one-liners and pranks are fine all the way through. There's nothing cringe-worthy-in-a-bad-way here. You'll chuckle, but something needed to be done to separate this from, and make it much more than, just an extended TV show. This is possibly as hard as it sounds, but I'll tell you what they needed to do. They needed to make the premise much more significant. They main plot needed to be incredibly daring/wacky/outrageous and possibly irreparable. What they chose - government's big dome going over Springfield - was not that interesting and wasn't even milked to enough comic effect. Unlike other major crises on the TV show, this one has the opportunity to stretch out for two hours and reveal deeper and more complex internal conflicts inside the souls of Springfield - to comic effect of course. The other plot threads - Marge and Homer's marriage problems, Bart's Dad problem, Lisa's boyfriend - aren't that bad but you pretty much know how they're going to end up.So what we have left is lots of good one-liners and pranks, and a feeling that it was all over so quickly. The makers really wanted this to be good. They seemed to have wanted it so badly that they were afraid to stick their big toe in too much. It's like a good TV episode, and a kind of missed opportunity.

Saw it at midnight opening night.after my disgust of the recent seasons, i found myself as being a heavy skeptic. i only saw the movie opening night after a friend offered me a free ticket. and i must say, i'm glad i went.before you read reviews and full plot synopsis, i would suggest avoiding them just going into the movie without any knowledge and seeing it.any long time Simpsons fan will be pleased with this film. they toned down the ridiculous antics of the current seasons in favor of showing off character development and depth. they lost their family guy-esquire non-sequitor gags in favor of subtle humor. not quite the intelligent humor of earlier seasons, but definitely good for laughs and showcasing solid writing with nothing too over the top.the focus was on the Simpson family and their predicament. development between the family and their relationships, and a plot on an epic scale. all your favorite characters are there, but they are not trying to steal the show.if you've been a fan in the past, and have been skeptical about seeing the movie, i'd suggest seeing it and being pleasantly surprised.I might actually go see this a second time.

Classic Simpsons

I went to see this in the afternoon on a whim, and the small audience was chuckling or laughing out loud just about the whole time. This is basically a very good, long and without commercial interruption, episode. It places particular emphasis on the Simpson family itself and their now familiar individual personalities and quirks, The movie takes advantage of the wide screen format, without going overboard. The intimate quality of the television series is preserved. Basically the Simpsons are huge TV stars who have made the jump to the movies without forgetting where they came from- to pull out a hackneyed cliché worthy of the show itself.Classic Simpson gags, with a dose of "not suitable for prime-time" nudity and lewdness. Best bit: Bart on a skateboard- what you don't see and then.... well enough, go see the movie. Even the Fox logo in the opening has the classic Simpson touch. There are a few treats and a surprise for those who have the patience to sit through the endless credits.Simpson fans will not be disappointed.

Just saw it and I must say I am a bit disappointed. It was fun and al, but seeing the marketing and hype and the fact they had like 18 years to develop this I can't but feel a bit robbed. It has it's moments and I did laugh hard sometimes. But I expected more of it, maybe I got my hopes up a bit to high. Still I do feel it wasn't worth 10 bucks to go see in the theater. They could've just brought it out on DVD like some other shows have done. The whole marketing and hype was better then the movie itself imho.Well I am just one man, and maybe you'll love it. I am just telling my opinion.

it a MOVIE we are talking about! not a Episode we get to watch in TV for free!!

OK after all the anticipation and "Dieing to see this movie"-Mania, the movie finally hits the theaters. And the movie isn't even half way through and I am like "WHAT the hell was I thinking?". OK don't get me wrong. The Simpson Movie isn't bad but it isn't good either. The movie is no different than watching the TV show. But there's one thing the Makers should have kept in mind-The TV show is free the Movie isn't.Speaking Honestly, I would rather watch 3 Episodes of Simpson that I have missed out among its 18 seasons.OK, the silliness is there and there are some good Moments of Laughter. The characters- Marge, Homer, Lisa, Bart- are all UN-Altered- another good thing. And the "OH! Top Secret"-Plot isn't bad either. But where does the movie go wrong? Or does it even go wrong? I find myself asking "AM I a Simpson fan?"OK OK! I probably am projecting the idea that this movie is BAD.It isn't. It is good. A true Simpson fan will love this movie. All in all, this is a Laugh to Laugh animated 2-D adult comedy made for the Simpson fans. The only problem I think I have is that I fond watching this movie no different than watching the TV show.6/10
