PLOT SUMMARY

Thanks to falsified dental records supplied by his former neighbor Nicholas Oz Oseransky, retired hitman Jimmy The Tulip Tudeski now spends his days compulsively cleaning his house and perfecting his culinary skills with his wife, Jill, a purported assassin who has yet to pull off a clean hit. Suddenly, an uninvited and unwelcome connection to their past unexpectedly shows up on Jimmy and Jill's doorstep: it's Oz, and he's begging them to help him rescue his wife from the Hungarian mob. To complicate matters even further, the men, who are out to get Oz, are led by Lazlo Gogolak, a childhood rival of Jimmy's and another notorious hitman. Oz, Jimmy and Jill will have to go the whole nine yards—and then some—to manage the mounting Mafioso mayhem.

A Very Funny Sequel of "The Whole Nine Yards"

posted on 21 Aug 2009

The Hungarian mobster Lazlo (Kevin Pollak) is released from the penitentiary after serving his sentence. He kidnaps Cynthia (Natasha Henstridge), the wife of the dentist Oz (Matthew Perry), trying to reach Jimmy (Bruce Willis), who is calmly living in Mexico with his wife Jill (Amanda Peet). I liked this sequel of "The Whole Nine Yards": I found it very funny, I laughed a lot and I found this movie very underrated in IMDb. The chemistry among the wonderful cast works perfectly, highlighting the scenes with Matthew Perry, who is one of the best comedians of the cinema industry. In the end, "The Whole Ten Yards" is a great comedy without having any further pretension. It is recommended to see "The Whole Nine Yards" before watching this sequel, since there are many references to situations in the first movie. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): This DVD has not been released in Brazil yet.

I can't believe it [it was a zubZero Rating Movie]

I am very sorry about all the good actors that played in this "movie" but the director of this film has ruined a good sequel. I can't believe my eyes. i was very excited that i was going to watch a good movie but instead it was a disaster. It doesn't even compare to the 1st one. the whole 9 yards was a masterpiece...but this...no way....i am very disappointed!!! Who said that it is a funny movie....he doesn't know what is funny and what is a ...i don't have words to describe this film... i have been waiting for this movie since last year...and come to this to be a disaster...

a nice funny comedy

I found the Whole Ten Yards to be funnier than the original. It wasn't better than the first one but there were more jokes in it. To avoid spoilers please disregard the next paragraph.***********************************************************************The funniest part in my opinion was when Oz runs over Jimmy's chicken and Oz discovers that Jimmy named all of his chickens. But the fake police part can't be forgotton or Lazlo Gololak's pronounciation of words which I found pretty funny.
***********************************************************************I am still laughing while writing this review. Even though the first one may be a little better with the action and story, the Whole Ten Yards makes up for it with the humour. Even though the Whole Nine Yards is one of my top ten funniest comedies of all time, I must admit that the Whole Ten Yards was funnier. All that said, I give it 10 out of 10

It's an okay movie

The Whole Ten Yards is an okay movie. It was sometimes boring, sometimes funny, sometimes stupid, sometimes everything.**************Potential Spoilers**************Matthew Perry was so silly in this movie. He made no sense in this movie. He tries to hard to be funny and he was really stupid in this film. When the balloon popped and when his in the house trying to get the guns, was that supposed to make laugh really hard, no it was dumb and silly.Bruce Willis gave a unique performance. It was good and bad at the same time. His character was so weird trying 2 b a girl or a house wive whatever he was. The nude scene was uncalled for and definitely unexpected. It was weird when Matthew and Bruce were in the bed together oh dear. This movie has a dumb plot which makes no sense. It goes out of proportion to much and the supporting cast were okay. The movie is somewhat enjoyable, a little disappointing and boring, but its an okay film.

A really fun sequel

Normally I like to make my judgments based on first hand experience, I don't know why with Ten Yards I was reluctant to see it at first and I actually passed off a couple of opportunities to see it. Then sitting bored one afternoon I thought I would give it a chance and it is really a fun sequel. If you're looking for light entertainment then this is the movie for you, but make sure you've seen nine yards first. The pace was kept up right from the beginning of this movie and never faltered. It never slowed or got bogged down at any stage and while there are a few goofs here and there it remains thoroughly enjoyable. My opinion is go ahead

Great Sequel

posted on 10 Mar 2009

In my mind, you cant have a sequel unless you bring back everything that was great about the first one. This is where The Whole Ten Yards gets my grade. Everyone is back. Everything from the first one is talked about and re-introduced beautifully. The story, not that it matters since this movie is more about the interplay between the cast, is about Oz returning to Jimmy after his wife Cynthia is kidnapped by Lazlo, the father of the character Kevin Pollack played in the original. Pollack returns here to play Lazlo. Now Oz, Jimmy, and Amanda Peet's Jill head to get Cynthia back.
Now, on to the good stuff. The sequel keeps alot of the original's fun, there is genuine character development, I bought every plot twist, and the cast works great together. Sad, the movie appears to have not done well at the box office and we wont see a Whole Eleven Yards. I'll bet that would have been a great movie.

A Stupid Movie

This is one of those movies I first saw on an airline; I was glad I didn't pay to see it. It was absolutely boring and dreary, and the plot drags. I have not seen much of Matthew Perry's work, but he was horrible in this movie, not to mention lame, corny, and unfunny. All his supposedly funny stunts were pathetic. Again, I haven't see other movies of him, and I don't plan to soon. This movie definitely lacks action, suspense, and urgency.
Also, I wonder if that is how Bruce Willis cries in real life. If it is, he'll probably wake up a horde of dogs, howling with him. I'll pass on this one.Grade F

This movie sucks!

This movie really sucks! Even a 4 years old kid would find this "movie" boring! The screenplay is so stupid, empty! Matthew Perry who was so brilliant in the "Friends" soap couldn't help himself to caricature Chandler Bing... Producters must really think we are stupids to give this s h i t to us! Beurk! I don't understand how such a good actor can play in this kind of movie. I don't think he needs money! He should respect his fans and not compromise himself in theses insanities! Why producters don't give good characters to "Friends" actors ? There are brilliant but even a good actor can save a bad movie... I think people who go and see this movies are to blame because producters don't have to improve theirs movies.

Horrible Excuse for a Movie

posted on 05 Jan 2009

I'm not one to walk out of movies, but there is a first time for everything. This movie was god awful! It contained some of the most wretched acting I have ever seen, especially from the two main stars Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry. The script was terrible with really pathetic jokes. It's really a shame that this movie is bad I went into it thinking that the first film was pretty good so the sequel couldn't be all that bad, but boy was i wrong. Don't waste your money on this one and if you must see it rent it, some place cheap. This movie is a contender to beat out Gigli's record for Razzies. Ben Affleck's acting in that movie was far superior to Bruce Willi's in The Whole Ten Yards.

Just as good as its predecessor

posted on 26 Dec 2008

THE WHOLE TEN YARDS, in my opinion, is just as good as its predecessor. I was going to see it in the theater with a friend of mine one day, but that plan blew up in our faces because it was showing too late. Luckily, when I was vacationing at my grandparent's house in Florida over the summer, I caught it on HBO. After viewing it then, I decided I wanted to own it, so one day, when I was out for the day with a friend of mine, I purchased it on DVD. Anyway, if you ask me, Oz (Matthew Perry) was pretty darn klutzy. If you ask me, Jill (Amanda Peet) was a goofy hit-woman. The only disgusting things were the bloody violence and the nude scene with Jimmy (Bruce Willis) and Oz. In conclusion, if you liked THE WHOLE NINE YARDS, I highly recommend this sequel that is just as good as its predecessor. You're in for a real treat if you haven't seen it, so go to the video store, rent it or buy it, kick back with a friend, and watch it.

The gangs are all back, equally funny as its prequel!

posted on 16 Dec 2008

This is one of the funniest films I have ever seen since its prequel, The Whole Ten Yards. Bruce Willis is more humorous as the ill-tempered hitman who has gone crazy, Mathew Perry is the sweet and possessed dentist, Amanda Peet is the sexy women of Jimmy's dreams, who has become frustrated of her husband's insanity, Natasha Henstridge is the unpredictable wife of the dentist, and Kevin Pollak is the ridiculous, mafia, slur speaking leader, seeking vengeance upon his son's death who can't say the name "Jimmy" correctly. I laughed throughout the comedy film of long lost friendships and murder, the unpredicatble twist at the end which I did not predict of all movies, and the laughable cast. What made me laugh the most in this film was the scenes from Oz's arrival of flattening a chicken with his car, to Jimmy walking up to Oz in bunny slippers, armed with a machine gun, saying, "Stay away from my chickens Oz!"

Another lame sequel

Proving once again that studios will make sequels out of anything, THE WHOLE TEN YARDS is the follow-up to the only moderately successful 2000 comedy THE WHOLE NINE YARDS. While THE WHOLE NINE YARDS wasn't a perfect comedy by any standards, it had some funny moments and was helped by the fact that it was an R-rated comedy as opposed to the watered down PG-13 comedies that came out that same year such as DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? Well, the same can't be said for THE WHOLE TEN YARDS, which barely contains half the laughs of its predecessor. In stead of getting a somewhat edgy R-rated comedy like we did with the first one, we get a watered down PG-13 comedy with tired gags and a so-so plot with ridiculous "twists". Unless you find jokes about impotence, swearing girl scouts, and annoying accents funny, I'd suggest you skip this one. However, if you want to see Natasha Henstridge looking hotter than ever, this is for you. *1/2

Slightly Toned, still fun to watch

Everyone is back! Jimmy The Tulip(Bruce Willis), his wife Jill(Amanda Peet), Oz(Matthew Perry) and his wife Cynthia(Natasha Henstridge) are back in this sequel to "The Whole Nine Yards". The Tulip is living in the higher level of California, away from his old job as a hit-man for hire. His wife Jill, does the killing for him, and he's learning to live the good life now. But when Lazlo(Kevin Pollak) gets out of prison, it's trouble once again. When the family kidnaps Cynthia, Oz is back to his old paranoid self. Seems like he can't get over anything. SHEESH! There were a lot of funny scenes to go by in the movie, Jimmy leaving the hotel naked, Jill wanting Oz to check out her broken heart. Ditching the skirt, then the sweater, and the bra, OH BOY! I would have more guts than Oz to understand her feelings. And when Jill was pregnant, it's a happy ending, except for The Tulip. "Oh Jimmy, you're going to be a great father" , but I'll know he will be great, trust me. A little mellow, yet finely entertaining, enjoy both of these movies and you'll score a touchdown there. Rating 3 out of 5 stars.

Matthew Perry is a Comic Genius...

posted on 26 Nov 2008

Rent it, buy it, just to see the classic comic performances, timing, and natural talent of Perry. Really, this guy's reactions to all things nerve wracking had me on the floor. Watch carefully as you put yourself into HIS shoes while watching this movie...hard to identify with a contract killer, played ably by Bruce Willis. Bruce is the straight man and does his part, while the role reversal in the opening scenes is a natural scream.I felt technically there were a couple of problems to nit pick in the direction and editing areas. Some of the comedy bits were OVER played and lasted too long...not the actor's faults...that is editing or direction. The actors did a marvelous job. But, heavy talent, and a VERY funny script must be seen. Pollak overdid Lazlo...the heavy overdone accent clipped out a lot of funny lines for me, and the closed captioning was not working correctly. I think Pollak could have been much more effective, funny, and convincing in his part if he did not add the Jerry Lewis overacting style to the part. It detracted from what was and is a VERY funny script, excellent acting by ALL the rest of the cast, and a great job by the director of photography and most of the crew. How funny is a contract killer as an obsessive compulsive cook and homemaker? Very! How great was Mat Perry in the part of a good "Joe" all American who has to deal with dangerous underworld people...? Hysterical. Gagging and sucking for air on the floor pleading for mercy funny. Really funny. Love to see more good scripts for Perry.

Far below ANY expectation

I've just seen this movie, so impressions are pretty fresh. And honestly, I just LOVED the previous one, Whole Nine Yards. It was great, not only because of starring Bruce Willis in a comic role (which is pretty hard to find), but also because of the great cast of Matthew Perry (doing all kinds of goofs and playing quite an idiot ;) ), the beautiful and dangerous-looking Amanda Peet, and also, Natasha Henstridge, about whom I don't think I should add anything else, I mean, we know she's gorgeous, and also a pretty good actress. All in all, great cast, good story, and great laughs - it was the first episode for me.*** MINOR SPOILERS ***And now, coming to this. I didn't really think it might be a good idea to make a sequel to such a movie, but somewhere deep inside I feared that it'll become like this if it's ever made. I mean, on longer terms, what could the beautiful ex-mobster-wife Henstridge want from Perry? And what'd Bruce Willis alias Jimmy the Tulip be, if he settled down with a girl? This is all stupid. I dunno who thought that it'll be a good laugh if they showed all this to the public, but it was rather annoying. Neurotic Willis, taking care of the household, and also, neurotic Perry, who doesn't seem to grow up after getting hold of a lot of money and a beautiful wife. Whereas the end of the first part was great, touching, and totally happy-end (I just love when the geek gets the hottie :)) ), it begins somewhere like "10 years later", adding the realism no-one wants to see in a comedy. Frankly, after a happy end, I don't wanna see all this stuff happening, it's simply too much like real life. And as the movie continues, it gets even worse: Oz getting lower and lower, being just a doormat throughout the whole story, and in the end finding out the point of the whole plot at last (together with the audience) - it's horrible! I mean, come on! After some chasing, some action, and some not-so-mild humiliation of the characters we got to love in the first part, in the last 2 minutes we get to figure out why it all happened... now are we supposed to feel any better? Despite of all the outcome, the film was still about trashing all of the characters, and after the first 20 minutes I started to be angry and hate all of them, and there was about 60 more to go. All this, just to have a very brief, tiny moment of "catharsis" (which definitely didn't happen)? Well... nice script. Really.*** END OF SPOILERS ***Otherwise, there are some funny moments. I simply love the new mobster, Lazlo Gogolak, and however his mother farts all the time, which has never been funny (it sucks big time in every movie it gets introduced as a joke), at least she spoke some Hungarian for real! :)) And besides, Lazlo was a really funny character, along with the rest of the mobsters, especially his son. At least, they didn't ruin the well-built reputation of the Hungarian mob from the first part (maybe 'cos there was nothing to ruin :) ).So... I'd recommend this film to those who like melodrama, and hate comedies, and those who hated the first one - they'll both find it growing up to their expectations. Those who actually liked the first, take care: this is much worse, the characters, and the story as well. In fact, this movie is far less than anybody who have ever seen the first, would expect. My vote is 3 of 10, just to honor the cast... it's not their fault after all.

Dull, boring and unimaginative

posted on 18 Nov 2008

** HERE BE SPOILERS **Jimmy (Willis) and Jill (Peet), and Oz (Perry) and Cynthia (Henstridge) is trying the life as ordinary couples. Both couples don't do very well. Poor Oz has turned to something nearing paranoia that drives Cynthia up the wall. Jimmy and Peet are trying to have a baby, failing miserably and argue most of the time. Suddenly Oz's paranoia seems valid as Cynthia is kidnapped by Lazlo Gogolak (Pollak), the father of Janni in the previous movie, and his gang of moron mobsters. Lazlo is of course upset and his seeking revenge for Janni's death, but again there are some hidden money. Oz is desperate and goes to Mexico, to find Jimmy and Jill to get some help. Arguing whining and shooting ensues (Oz is followed by Lazlo and his gang) and slowly the three returns to Los Angeles with a hostage of their own, Lazlo's son Strabo (Collison). The plan, or the apparent one at least, is to exchange Strabo for Cynthia. But as always, nothing goes according to plan.Again an action comedy, this one emphasizes action much more than the predecessor. It tries to be funny, but fails. Actually it is trying so hard to be hilarious that nothing works. Were 'Whole Nine Yards' showed finesse and feeling this has nothing. There are a lot of whining and arguing that somehow is supposed to be funny. Scenes are long and mostly dull, for example the bar scene were Willis sobs and screams and Oz is just miserably ignorant. I suppose the incompetent mafia gang is supposed to be funny, but they're just pathetically ridiculous. They just show upon the writers poor effort and bad imagination. Another is the plot meltdown that allowed Lazlo's mother to be included. Her only task is to wander around being confused and fart. I wondered if the target audience was tired four-year-olds, who must be the only few that might think that is funny. The acting is miserably done as well, with possible exception of Perry, who seem to be trying valiantly to keep some quality and dignity in his character, and Henstridge, who's saving grace is that her scenes are few and apart. Willis Peet Pollack and others fail completely, possibly not of their own fault but maybe of a bad script not giving them any chance. The characters of Jimmy and Jill are completely gone, replaced by some whining and arguing couple not seen in the previous movie. There are some laughs but they can do nothing to save this weak movie.3/10

What went wrong?!?

I really liked The Whole Nine Yards and was expecting the sequel to be just as good. Boy, was I wrong- I mean where do you even begin with what wrong? You have top-rated actors like Bruce Willis, Kevin Pollack, and Matthew Perry shooting out bland predictable jokes/punchlines. The editing from frame to frame in several scenes is inconsistent. The plot is so mish-moshed and unfunny with characters that are so overly stereotypical and practically labeled as stupid. All in all, it's a really horrible script. The film wasn't even that long and the whole time I was sitting there, I couldn't wait for the agony to be over. It really is such an embarrassment for these actors to lower themselves in such a film. If you were a fan of The Whole Nine Yards, do not see The Whole Ten!

more than disappointing - let me tell you why

posted on 31 Oct 2008

Despite the resounding (3 out of 4)praise for this film, I cannot but help to add my two cents, that it is a very poor film indeed. In contrast to similar films of a similar genre such as "Get Shorty" or even "Gross Pointe Blank" this production is largely without cleverness and character interest, (let alone development). Even the performance of Rosanna Arquette (who is unusually without merit in this part) and Bruce Willis (the hero of the common man), it manages to be poorly acted, with characteristic performances by Matthiew Perry and Amanda Peet. The plot is loose and predictable, the comedy not even cheaply amusing, and the acting beyond predictable. Please don't bother, this movie is definitely not worth it on any level.

By no means as good as the original...

posted on 27 Oct 2008

When Oz's (Matthew Perry) new wife Cynthia (Natasha Henstridge) is captured by the mob, he is no one else to turn to but his old friend Jimmy the Tulip (Bruce Willis). Teaming up with Jimmy and his new wife (Amanda Peat), Oz experiences another crime filled adventure with the mob.Although not nearly as funny or as exciting as the original, The Whole Ten yards will surely entertain…for the most part. About half of the movie is clever and entertaining and would have deserved my recommendation, but the twist at the end is terrible and made the movie seem worthless. After the twist, follows a ridiculous display of events that are horrible, making the movie in my opinion a failure but still not absolutely terrible. Overall, the movie follows in the footsteps of an entertaining comedy but falls short of what could have been.I do not recommend this film.

just okay...

There isn't much about this film to enjoy. I was hoping it would be a lot funnier than it was, but I just didn't laugh at anything except Kevin Pollack's character who was hard to understand most of the time. I had no problem with the cast, I enjoyed all of their performances. Especially Kevin Pollack and Natasha Henstridge who really made the film at least somewhat watchable. If only Bruce Willis could have had more funny lines, or Matthew Perry been a little funnier, or if Amanda Peet...wait there's nothing wrong with her. Anyway, I can only recommend this to someone who likes the cast but not necessarily the story, otherwise, this movie gets a 5 out of 10 because they did try...to some degree.
