Storyline

TAGLINES PLOT SUMMARY

Though Tinker Bell might have played second fiddle to Peter Pan and Captain Hook in Disney's 1953 classic, the beloved fairy gets top billing—and a speaking role—with this animated adventure. In TINKER BELL, young audiences can journey to Pixie Hollow, the home of the fairies in Never Land. The spirited sprite is joined by a number of her magical friends: Iridessa the light fairy, Rosetta the garden fairy, Fawn the animal fairy, Silvermist the water fairy, and Clank and Bobbie the tinker fairies. Fans of the Disney Princess series will find much to like in this offering that introduces characters that children can identify with. Like other Disney films, TINKER BELL boasts beautiful CG animation and a number of celebrity voices.

Really Enjoyable

posted on 31 Aug 2009

When I saw this with my little sister I didn't expect to enjoy it so much. The animation was great and the scenery was beautiful. The characters were lovable and plot was interesting. It contained themes that I think people of all ages and genders can relate to. It was touching and sweet at the same time. I really loved it. They did a good job of expanding on the character of tinker bell. They were successful in making her an extremely multi-faceted character. Her search to find herself and her flaws make her an interesting heroine. I thought that the movie gave off a positive message that we can all learn from about accepting who you are. I didn't want the movie to end. I cant wait to watch the next Tinker Bell movie.

If Thomas Kinkade made an animated film, this would be it

My toddlers who are two and three love this movie, but it's so packed with kitsch that I can't bear to watch it.It's cloyingly sweet all the way through, reminds me of Thomas Kinkade paintings.I can't imagine it's good for little minds to form their visual taste on this kind of cheesy junk.I'm just surprised a respectable actress like Anjelica Houston would associate herself with such a project, but it makes sense that it went straight to DVD. Let that be a lesson to me never to buy straight-to-DVD anything in future.

A very sweet and funny film

I admit, I am a fan of Tinker Bell (something a 22 year old MALE wouldn't approve of, like me), and I've always wanted to see this enchanting but short film. It's magical in every way.Tinker Bell is born as a tinker, a fairy who makes teapots out of nuts. She does not approve of this and wants to be like the other fairies that travel to the mainland. But when she tries to be something that she isn't, she creates disaster. She soon learns that being who you really are can be useful if you just believe in yourself. What really surprised me in this film was the cast. Most of these cast members you'll already know, like Mae Whitman (best known as Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender), America Ferra (TV's Ugly Betty), Rob Paulsen (Danny Phantom) and even Steve Valentine (TV's Crossing Jordan).Overall, this is a very sweet and funny film that, despite its short running time, will leave its magic mark of pixie dust with you forever. It certainly did it on me! ^_^

Sweet and charming CGI Disney movie

posted on 31 May 2009

I saw this movie last Saturday when they showed it randomly on Disney Channel (in Norway) and I was pleasantly surprised. I've seen some trailers and clips from this movie and the animation looked quite good, so although my expectations weren't the highest, I still hoped that "Tinker Bell were going to be a watchable picture - which it turned out to be.It's a shame that this film wasn't released on theaters, cause, like Brettster said, it was much better than Disney's recently theatrical releases ("Chicken Little", "The Wild") and a whole lot better than the previous "Peter Pan"-cartoon, "Return to Neverland".Anyway, about the movie; It is very sweet in many ways. The mood is reminiscent at the Disney features from the 90's. The animation is absolutely beautiful and detailed and the delightful score (which is sometimes Irish inspired) provides the sweet, enchanting mood of the film. The characters are cute and adorable and the moral is a good one. The movie is a film that families can safely watch together. And then there's the songs; "Tinker Bell" doesn't contain many songs, which is good, cause often the songs on Disney's non-theatrical releases are quite mediocre. While the songs on "Tinker Bell" aren't memorable, they are not disturbing neither and are quite all right. So do your self a favor and check out "Tinker Bell"

Cute & sparkly ... though somewhat disappointing -- Should have been a lot better ... I really looked forward to this movie and was very disappointed, sadly. I have been wanting to see a show about the Disney Faeries ever since I first saw the toys. I was hoping for a stronger storyline, and more Fairy characters. I wanted to see the first wave of Disney Fairies like Bess and Rani (my favorites) and others like Fira, Beck, etc ... I also wanted to see them alongside the newer ones like Silvermist and Vidia, Iridessa, Fawn and the others. It was disappointing that it only had the newer ones, except for Tinkerbell. And as it was Tinkerbell's first movie showing how she was born and first arrived in Pixie Hollow, the first lot of Disney Fairies knew her before the newer ones, and in the end of the movie, she found the owner of the music box, which I suspected would be Wendy ... but this again was weird as when I read Tinkerbell's mini book, it said it was set after Peter Pan ... So either it is a time-line anomaly or perhaps Disney is doing the "prequel" thing like Star Wars, Eragon, Shannara, Mists of Avalon and a lot of other fantasy series these days starting with one storyline, then doing a "new" storyline set previous to the first one ... (Though nothing was said to that effect) I certainly hope they do another movie (or series) with the first Disney Fairies as well as the newer ones - and that it is superior to this one. Tink looked way better when they did the first wave of Fairies also.I liked Silvermist a lot (even when I saw her on a site before I saw the movie.) She was very beautiful. Her (and Vidia) were the ones that looked the best out of all of them, but sadly, in the movie Silvermist was portrayed as somewhat of a dope, which was very annoying. I was also disappointed in Queen Clarion. She looked very nice, but her character was very flat. Also, I hated his they did Vidia here. I read her mini book and while she doesn't seem to be a nice Fairy, she certainly was not vindictive, nasty or cruel and I was hoping to see more character depth, but sadly, not a jot. To me, when I read her book, Vidia seemed to be a loner and misunderstood and typical of Disney, was characterized badly in the movie. And those were not the only disappointments for me. The animation threw me as I think for this movie, traditional line drawings would have been better, mixed with CGI for the surrounding scenery and the sparkles, but the Fairies did not look as beautiful and spectacular as they did in previous animation drawings I had seen of them. However, that aside, praises I will give this movie is the special effects of the pixie dust and sparkles, fairies flying the glow when Queen Clarion appeared and when Tink first arrived and the hammer glowed, were beautiful and the scenery looked lovely. I loved the scene where Tink fixed the music box, finding her rare talent of fixing things. It was great that she got to go to the mainland and prove herself. And I liked the message to be proud of who you are, even if one does not think they are special. This is a parable for a child or a person who is overweight, different, or perhaps not good at something like math or science, to know that there is something special that they can do which is unique to them and something they can do well. I was treated very badly at school because I was different and like Tink, felt upset a lot of the time. However ... Like Tink I found I had special talents too ... I found that I love to write, and I have a deep empathy with people and like to help people. However, next time I will not be so trusting and hire a movie at the video shop before I buy it! (Which is what I usually do) ... Goes to show, you can't trust a DVD by its cover... Even if it is Green & Sparkly!

A Nice Idea That Became a So-So Movie

posted on 23 Jan 2009

As is always the case with Disney movies, the animation in "Tinker Bell" is absolutely top notch - drawn with an obviously delicate touch, realistic and very, very beautiful. I also have to also give credit to whoever thought up the idea of making the movie. Tinker Bell is a Disney character everyone knows, but about whom we know virtually nothing, so the idea of filling in the little fairy's past was a good one, as was the thought of giving us a glimpse of how fairy life is organized. Personally, though, I thought the story was a bit too advanced for little ones. I also didn't think that - aside from Tinker Bell herself - any of the characters in this movie were particularly memorable, and I was extremely disappointed with the music. Disney can usually be counted on for finding memorable songs to go along with their movies, but the music here was, again, not something that I thought young kids would relate well too, and certainly I won't be singing any of the Gaelic-inspired tunes that were used here. Essentially, it was a nice idea that could probably have been better presented. 5/10

Sweet Family Film, Better Than Many Theatrically Released Disney Films

Saw this movie today (9/26/08) with my young nieces at a special El Capitan Theatre preview in Los Angeles. We were all delighted by Tink's excellent backstory, the ingenious story and the handsomely rendered 3-D animation. Cast is uniformly excellent, including Lucy Liu, Kristen Chenoweth and Anjelica Houston. This was much better than some of the theatrically released Disney animated films I've seen (notably "Atlantis"), making it among the best of the Mouse's direct-to-video titles. Well worth checking out with your kids, but don't be surprised if you find a tear in your own eye at the conclusion of this delightful surprise.

Beautiful!

This was a wonderful movie! I think it was as good as anything Disney has done in last 15 years. What really set this apart from most of the DVD fare is the incredible score, with music from Loreena McKennit! I could really relate to Tink's desire to find who she is and why. I looked everywhere for MY Talent, and it's taken a long time for me to really be happy with myself just the way I am. That's one of the most important and easily forgotten things you can learn in your life, and I'm glad to see that in any movie. The only thing I would have changed was the addition of so much Pop in the soundtrack. I much prefer the orchestral and Choir work to the latest Tween princess crap. Give this a chance, at least a rental. Just enjoy it for what it is, and believe again.

loved it

i am obsessed with Tinkerbell too, just like other people who wrote comments. also i have read peter pan and researched into James Barrie's life for hours on end, but I still loved this movie. it was adorable and cute and even though they changed the feisty Tinkerbell that was, it was placed before peter pan. no, she can't talk in peter pan but it's probably because she is so small maybe human's couldn't hear her but since peter pan was magical he could hear her so they just didn't make her lines. no, it's not exactly what Barrie wrote but i still think he would be pleased with the movie. it was very creative and i loved it!

Great movie for little girls

My 3 year old daughter absolutely adores this movie. In fact, she likes it better than many of the more highly touted Disney theatrical releases. The character of Tinker Bell is truly charming, and in my opinion, much more enjoyable than the classical portrayal in Peter Pan. Sue me, I LIKE that Tink can speak. She's still gutsy, and independent, but in this movie has far better motivations for her actions than jealousy over Peter Pan.All of the faeries' characterizations were entertainingly done, and I like that they all had their own "thing" going on. Other plus points include some really pretty animation (young girls in particular will love the eye-popping colors and the liberal use of sparkle) and a good overall message. Both my daughter and myself enjoyed the celtic-inspired score and tunes, so if your child likes different types of music other than just top 40 pop, she/he should enjoy this as well.My only minor quibble is that at times the dialogue is a tad insipid and inane, and the over-use of the term "Sweetie" when the faeries are addressing each other. For a movie that was designed for the home DVD market, I think that this one delivers much more bang for your entertainment buck than many of the big budget theatrical releases.

Tinkerbell lost everything

posted on 25 Sep 2008

Don't get me wrong but I did not like this. It destroyed the wonderful and lovable Tinkerbell known for her strong personality and jealous side. She is fascinating because she doesn't need to talk to express her feelings, she just needs to act, just like in a silent picture. J.M.Barrie created a marvelous fairy, beautiful, selfish but with a mellow and sweet side, in his masterpiece 'Peter Pan', a lot of versions of this fabulous novel/play were released and Tink was never voiced before (I think she wasn't) because she is mainly known for not talking, she has always been charismatic because of the way she acted. Even in the Walt Disney's version of the story Tinkerbell had the right expressions and moods (thanks to Margaret Kerry who modeled for Tink!) so why Tinkerbell is talking now? Why the hell? She is such a cheesy character in this movie, sweet, mellow, nice, kind, so unlikeable! Where is the charming Tinkerbell? Full of life and energy with spirit and ambition. This movie killed, being Tinkerbell biggest fan on the planet! Yes, this movie is charming and delightful with a quite funny and entertaining story for all the family with a lot of enjoyable moments and magical animation. However, it's a very sad thing for me to see Tinkerbell being destroyed and that's why I hated this movie. Young kids will love it, for sure! Although parents will be annoyed if they love Tinkerbell and her adventures.
