PLOT SUMMARY

Burt Gummer returns home to Perfection, Nevada, from a trip to Argentina, where he wiped out a herd of Shriekers. Things are a little different in Perfection now — the community has become something of a tourist attraction because of a battle against Graboids about 11 years ago. Nancy Sterngood and her 22-year-old daughter Mindy still live in Perfection. Burt's friend Miguel still calls Perfection home. Obnoxious Melvin Plug has moved into real estate, and he is now trying to build homes in Perfection. There are even Graboid comic books on the racks, and Safari Jack Sawyer takes families out on phony Graboid hunts for a few bucks. Burt's pretty disgusted by the whole thing. The Graboids haven't surfaced in Perfection since the battle from 11 years ago, but that hasn't kept Burt from slacking off. His home is like a fort, completely Graboid proof and Shrieker proof. But after 11 years, the Graboids and Shriekers have returned, but this time there's trouble. Government officials show up to protect the monsters, because Graboids are an endangered species. To further complicate things, the Shriekers evolve into a new kind of flying creature that can sense body warmth in much the same way the Shriekers can, and local store owner Jodi Chang, the niece of the late Walter Chang, calls them Ass Blasters. Burt unloads his arsenal of weapons to use against the monsters, and Jack and Jodi team up with him. But since these creatures can fly, and are each carrying a Graboid egg inside of it, Burt, Jack, and Jodi are going to have to watch every single step they take if they are going to stay alive long enough to stop the monsters.

Some say its great some say its bad.

I will be honest i didn't like the movie the first time i thought it was like crap. But i watched again and i liked for an odd reason. The movie is not a dark movie witch i liked i understood the humor that was used in this movie the second time. I guess some people didn't like this movie because ya it didn't have the have to stay off the ground excitement but if they had put the cant be seen or cant be heard together there's a great film. I have to say the movie is quite different returns to the old town we know called perfection and see the people from the first witch i thought was good. The makers i think thought they wanted a new creature involved because if not the standing on rocks would get old and harder to make more of a thriller. This movie is more of a comedy and teach us the full cycle of the way they change and how. Its a pretty cool film and shows us the characteristics more then any other of the Tremors films. If your a really serious guy this film is not one for you. If you have a good sense of humor you will like this.

fun, but mildly disappointing

The original TREMORS was a terrifically-fun film, and TREMORS 2 was an equally-fun sequel that captured everything from the original. Now we have TREMORS 3, which I've been anticipating ever since first hearing about it. Now that it's here and I've had the chance to see it, I have to say I'm a little disappointed. First, the bad points. No Fred Ward. I would love to have seen him return, and I'm not sure why he didn't unless he just felt like leaving the series behind. Also, the plot surprise this time around involving the Graboids is something of a disappointment. I won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet, but the discovery is less enjoyable that discovering the Shriekers in TREMORS 2. And we don't get to see much of the Graboids beyond a few minutes of screen-time scattered throughout the film. I would have liked a little more Graboid action. Now the good points. Michael Gross. Burt Gummer is back and better than ever, opening the film with a sequence in which he takes out a whole herd of Shriekers in Argentina with a high-powered dual-machine gun rig on the back of his truck. The action soon returns to the town of Perfection, Nevada, location of the first film, completely recreated for the film and looking identical to the setting in the original. Shawn Christian's Jack (like Christopher Gartin's character in TREMORS 2) could have easily been a terrible sidekick character, but is a character who's as likable as the others and well-played by Christian. Also nice is the return of those who lived in Perfection in the original film (those who survived, at least). Kevin Kiner's score is very different from the previous two, featuring a combination of driving synth rythyms and traditional orchestral scoring. A soundtrack would be most welcome. And thanks to having the same writers as the first two (an extreme rarity among sequels), the film has many references to past events that fans will delight in picking up and remembering. I enjoyed TREMORS 3, but felt it fell a little short of being completely satisfying like the other two. If only the big surprise had been something different (and better), this would be a flawless film. It's fun to watch and I'm sure I'll watch it many more times, but I wonder how long it will take before the surprise grows on me and I began to fully except it and like it. With the surprise being what it is, I'm not sure I would look forward to a TREMORS 4 (even though I'd probably watch it anyway) because it would have to continue the surprise. But this it's a must-see for TREMORS fans, because it does maintain the sense of fun and suspense found in the other two and is technically well-made, something that cannot usually be said for direct-to-video sequels (and second ones, at that).

Menacing creatures change form and get smarter.

Michael Gross returns for the third time as Burt Gummer, expert 'Graboid' fighter. After nearly eleven years, these 30 foot earth-worm like creatures have returned to cause havoc in the desert town of Perfection, Nevada. Not only are the 'Graboids' able to turn themselves into a smaller upright hopping creature, but now also have become able to change into a flying menace. Change of characters from the previous installment. Notable work by Susan Chaung, Ariana Richards and Shawn Christian. More humor does not mean less gore or violence. If you have already viewed the first and second episodes, you know that nonsense can be entertaining.

Tremors are the best movies of all time

I have seen all three Tremors movies and they are some of the best movies of all time. The third one is so great. Michael Gross plays a really good part and congrats to him for winning an emmy for his character Burt. If Burt was not in any of the other Tremors movies I can say I would not love them as much as I do. I cannot wait until the fourth Tremors comes out. The only thing that will help me to wait is knowing I can watch the first three and the t.v series.

Silly, but good campy fun.

My Take: A decent TV sequel. This sequel lacks the monster movie flavor of the original, but still kinda enjoyable, mostly by the fans of the series. This film is quite like a reunion for the cast of the original "Tremors". Michael Gross returns for the role of Burt Gummer, and so does some of the original cast including Ariana Richards, Tony Genero, Robert Jayne and Charlotte Stewart as the townies of Perfection, which has become famous all over the world as habitat of the giant graboids. But their re-appearance in the town isn't all attraction, when they begin to change again.Although not as excellent, "Tremors 3" emerges as a funny, skin-crawling sequel. The comedy is fine, and the action is fast. But the special-effects aren't of much realism. The creatures look just like a couple of cartoons on a real background.Anyway, it's not one of those bad sequels, "Tremors 3: Back to Perfection" is still fun, even for the young viewers.TV movie rating: *** out of 5.

a real peak of trash

As a real fan of Tremors 1 I made the mistake to trust all the good reviews on this site. But believe me guys: This one has nothing to offer (well - except a realy strange resurection scene). Unfortunately I bought the DVD. Don´t even rent it even if you feel greedy on a monster movie - watch Tremors No. 1 instead or get "Octalus" or whatever else there is on the shelve.

big gun

posted on 21 Sep 2008

when el blanco came to Burt's house Burt takes the gun from t2 and goes outside but doesn't use it. now for the rest of the film he never uses it again when he knows it could rip through 6 shriekers (if there standing side by side) and could probably do the same thing to the perfection shriekers. now what i want to know is why not? i mean it could kill shriekers with a single shot so why not use it on the ass-blasters? even if he missed the concussive force could give them one h**l of a headache and probably ground them making them easier targets for his spear/potato gunLife is short, so lets get drunk

Next installment in great trilogy!

The Graboids are back! back to Perfection, Nevada... with only 22 shooting days, this is an amazing movie. Earl and Valentine are both out of this movie, now its up to Burt and the remainder of the town (most of the living charecters from the original movie, now 11 years older.) to stop whatever the graboids have planned.

The Graboids are back yet again...

Yup, those giant nasty carnivorous worms are back once again. Again they strike at the poor town of Perfection Nevada. I loved the first two. When I first saw this at the store, I thought. Oh no. Bet they screwed it up this time. Well I passed. Some of my friends had bought it and recommended it. So About 1 week after it's release, I bought it. I have zero regrets.True this film is missing Burt Ward and Kevin Bacon. But as we learned in the second one, Bacon ran off with the geologist from the first movie. Well in this film we learn Grady and Earl created Monster World, a Graboid theme park. But like I said you don't really miss them since you know what happened to them. This time around takes place 11 years after the first movie. Burt Gummer is still paranoid. He just returns from an 'Shrieker', aka the evolved form of a Graboid, extermination run in Argentina (the opening of the film). We see Chang's daughter now runs the general store and sells many different types of Graboid merchandise. Mindy and her mother still live in Perfection. Mindy had to drop out of college because they couldn't afford the tuition. There is a new guy in town, He runs a "Graboid Safari" tour. It is all just a scam. But all hell is about to break loose. No sooner than does Burt arrive home, then Graboids show up. So once again it is humans Vs. Graboids!I loved this film. I laughed my butt off through out the entire film. This is as good as if not better than the first two. Only problem is some of the effects shots are not as good as they could be. Aside from that I'm VERY pleased with this film.

Whoever said "Third Time's Always a Charm" should be shot.

First of all, let me inform you that this movie is NOT PG-rated like everyone claims. They just saw a misprint on the Universal Pictures video sleeve cover for the VHS/DVD. At the end of the credits was the actual MPAA rating which was PG-13. That explains the language, violence and gore. Now for the movie itself. This is nothing like Tremors. This is an embarrassingly, horrid third installment, to the fun horror-comedy, that imitates the first two films. But they added a predictably different and ugly-looking creature this time. These things are "magically" created on film with some of the most saddest special effects i've ever seen in my life. It's cheaper than white trash. There's a reason why Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward wouldn't stick around for this one...Seeing Michael Gross at the top billing warned me that this one was gonna stink. Has-been actors depress me.The series is tired, they all look alike except for the creatures - who are just boring - they're nothing like they used to be. The humor and dialogue is lamer. It's not "so bad that it's good", it's just "so bad that it's bad."Going Back to Perfection was a bad idea.Strictly for mindless 'Tremors' fans who think this stuff is a masterpiece.I strongly advise everyone to stick to the first.2/10

Not nearly as good as the original, but an ok movie.

I knew this movie couldn't be nearly as good as "Tremors", and probably on the same level as "Tremors 2: Aftershocks", so I wasn't expecting anything great. I saw this film more out of curiosity than anything... and I got pretty much exactly what I expected. The movie isn't anything great, but it's got some cool stuff in it.I thought it was funny that they managed to work in a mention of just about every character from the first film as they could, and if they didn't mention them, they actually showed them in the film. I thought it was also funny that they had more people returning to the 3rd installment than they did in the 2nd installment. The only returning characters in part 2 was Michael Gross and Fred Ward. The 3rd installment had Michael Gross, Ariana Richards, Tony Genaro, Charolette Stewart, and Bobby Jacoby. They even had one returning actor (John Papas) who was in part 1 as one of the construction workers that got killed, and played one of the Feds that got killed in this film. I guess that only makes sense though, since part 2 takes place in Mexico where as this film takes place back in Perfection, Nevada, where it all started. But, in any case, it still struck me as interesting. One thing that I really liked about this film was Ariana Richards. Wow, has she grown up! She looks absolutely incredible, I'll definitely need to keep an eye out for future work.I have to say I liked the new design of the next phase of the "Tremors" (or if you must, "Graboids"). I liked the idea of having the "Tremors" fly, but they way they (they being the film-makers) did it, was pretty stupid.I was also less than stoked about the computer animated worm-tremors. What was that? They looked way too cartoon-ish and just plain weird. Anyhow, I didn't like that, but I didn't really care a great deal, cause the movie is full of problems. All in all, this is an OK movie, but nothing too get excited about. I would DEFINITELY recommend watching "Tremors" first, then watch "Tremors 2: Aftershocks", and if you're still interested, go ahead and watch this one.
Thanks for reading,-Chris

Think of it as a comedy

If you're looking for a serious monster movie, this isn't for you. But if you're a fan of the Tremors series, remember how fun and funny the first film was, and can keep yourself in that mind-set, then you'll enjoy this one. It's a bit slow to get started, but when they introduce the latest evolutionary phase of the graboids, the film moves into overdrive, with action and comedy galore.Sadly, the script has a few plot holes and the acting is merely so-so, so it's only a 6/10 in my book, but on a boring evening when there's nothing decent on, it's a great alternative to re-runs.

OK, I gave it a 3 BUT..

The kids loved it.
Glued to the screen. So if you want one, not tooo scary, that they will like. Try this one. Silly & dumb, and no more Kevin Bacon, but a good one for the kids. Vaugely related to the other two versions.

..........STILL fun!!!!!!!!!!

***SPOILERS***
I was hoping that this was going to be as good as the first. It is not, but it is still fun to
watch. The GRABOIDS/SHRIEKERS have now morphed into Dragon-like, winged creatures that attack the town of PERFECTION VALLEY, were the first TREMORS film took place. three and-a-half stars out of five.

not so much

ok everybody here's the deal, i just saw Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, and i wasn't overly enthusiastic about it. It was ok, and i really like Michael Gross aka Burt, but i thought it was pointless to make this movie. In fact i thought that it was pointless to make the second one, the only reason that i saw these two is because of how much i liked the first one. But the last one really made me sad, the fact that the(sorry if i ruin the movie for anyone reading this)but the fact that the Graboids keep changing is stupid, and the creature that they change into this time is the dumbest thing i have ever seen. I mean a creature that lights its farts on fire to fly is extremely stupid. on the up side however, Michael Gross does have one of the funniest one liners i have ever heard, for those who have seen it you probably know what i am talking about. Anyway I didn't mean to offend anyone by these comments, i just wanted to give my opinion. If you like it by all means enjoy it, but as for me not so much, and I pray to God that they don't make a fourth one, that would be a little too much for me. It would be like how they made eight of The Land Before Time, or however many they made. Too many sequels eventually hurts the original and i don't want the first one hurt. There's my review, hope you liked it. Oh yeah i know my grammar really sucks, sorry.

A pleasant supprise!

When I heard they were doing another Tremors, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. I loved the first one, the second one was good.I wished they could have got Kevin Bacon to revise his role as Val. When I saw the cast of the third, I was most disappointed to find out that Fred Ward wasn't in it, so I wasn't too sure about the idea that Michael Gross was THE star. It was pretty neat they got most of the "Perfection" cast back together. I saw the other comments, and decided to give it a chance, and I loved it as much as the other two! I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but let me say this, do yourself a favor, rent it, or better yet, buy it! If you like the first two, you won't be disappointed!

I already knew it when i rented it, that it would be very bad..but this bad??? I mean just look at the cover dear old Michael "family ties" Gross, how can he even respect himself after playing in this movie? The special effects are very, very bad. The actors, well lets not even talk about them, i will cry! Just - if you must see a tremors movie- stick to part one. Oh my god, I'm crying! I've seen a lot of bad movies but this one must be the silliest movie ever, not even one good joke! This is the first movie Brent Maddock directed...i hope it stays that way!Oh my sweet lord!NoVarelluM

If you have seen the previous Tremors movies, you will probably agree with me that the first of these was better than the sequal. The original Tremors was great. It had a creative plot and good acting, and even though is wasn't much of a super horror flick, it still was pretty intense. Not to say that the second one wasn't any good. The second one was entertaining because of the added characters, (whose names I forgot) but added a little bit of a tension reliever to all the questions formulated about why is the Graboid doing that noise? Is it okay? What came out of it? Who's gonna get gobbled up next? Is the story over yet? I wonder if there'll be a part three? Well, there is, and like I said, it is the best one yet. In this film, the battling of the "Graboids" and the little ones with legs which keep getting smarter, (with a little surprise during the film) against the humans, or vice versa, takes place back in the town of the original Tremors. I dont want to be a spoiler so I will just conclude by saying that this is a much better film than the second one, surpassed all my expectations by actually being better even than the first one, and if you are going out to rent some movies for you and yours, this would be a great choice. You cannot leave this world without viewing this film, a redemtion of the first sequal. 9/10 - could have used a little more intensifying background music to make the scary scenes more horrorific, but hey, its a video sequal to the sequal

About the Video

posted on 13 Feb 2007

Spoilers herein.`Tremors' was an interesting experiment is self-referential irony: making fun of the audience. It failed in the theaters was turned into a big hit on video. So the idea is to extend the franchise by pumping out a series of inexpensive videos. Along the way, you have to solve the problem of what is different from chapter to chapter. The distance between the first two was rather large. The first one pointed at `Dune' and made fun. The second pointed to the first, and also evolved the creature. Now we are into steady state, where the formula will not change, only the monsters take on various comic forms. This is now into the Freddy Krueger model of sequels. The sharp humor is lost. The first was cruel in how it abused its own audience for being stupid. The third pretends that all that highfalutin abuse was only a joke, and now sinks to taking itself seriously.Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 4: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.

In Argentina, munitions master Michael Gross (as Burt Gummer) blows away a herd of second stage "Graboids" - if you've been watching the "Tremors" films, you'll know these critters are called "Shriekers". Then, Mr. Gross returns "Back to Perfection", Nevada. The city's population is down to five, from the original film's fourteen. Gross finds a new arrival among the familiar few, entrepreneurial Shawn Christian (as "Desert" Jack Sawyer). Mr. Christian is in town to make a buck off of the tiny city's infamy. As it turns out, "Perfection" has become a tourist attraction, due to its "Tremors".The opening "tourist" scenes are very funny - and, this third installment ups the comic quotient successfully, for much of the running time. The supporting cast includes more original cast members than you can shake a stick at. They are nice to see, but (some) tend toward camp in their characterizations. The third stage "monsters" are named "Ass Blasters", by new market owner Susan Chuang (as Jodi Chang). The "Ass Blasters" are not as interesting or terrifying as they were in their original "Tremors" (1990) incarnation. It helps that this film is funnier. And, Christian and Ms. Chang are a satisfying couple.****** Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001) Brent Maddock ~ Michael Gross, Shawn Christian, Susan Chuang
