TAGLINES PLOT SUMMARY

When it comes to matters of the heart, keeping her man happy and committed is all in a day's work for Shanté Smith. Shanté is so adept at navigating the waters of romance that her best girlfriends Diedre, Karen and Tracye depend on her for advice whenever "man trouble" clouds the horizon. But when Shanté's boyfriend Keith is caught red-handed stepping out with a co-worker, Shanté institutes her "Ten Day Plan" to get her man in line. Whether its sexy lingerie or good home cooking, Shanté has an arsenal of weapons designed to bring a man to his knees...and back to her. She's not above playing the damsel in distress or using the ever-reliable local grapevine to get Keith's attention. It's all good, because getting her man back - by any means necessary - is all that matters. Unfortunately the happy ending that Shanté expects goes sideways when Keith begins following the advice of his buddy Tony, who brings a player's perspective to the games girls play. In this comedic battle of the sexes, Shante's about to discover that not only are there no rules - she's not the only one playing. With her relationship at stake and her friends checking her every move, Shanté has to think fast and stay a step ahead of Keith if she has any hope of bringing her man back...with her pride intact.

Over and over again!

posted on 19 Aug 2009

I can watch this movie over and over again! I rented it twice and now own it. Great performances and great story line! I love the way Vivica's character talks to us through out the movie. If something were to ever happen to my copy of this movie....I would DEFINITELY go out and purchase another copy for sure. a must see.

ONE OF THE BEST

THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE. THE KIND OF MOVIE YOU WOULD WANT TO SEE WITH YOUR GIRLS. ITS ABOUT THE GAME OF THE RELATIONSHIP. IT WAS A NICE COMEDY, NOTHING TO SERIOUS. YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF SAYING "I DID THAT BEFORE." YOU WOULDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS ONE OF THE RULES IN THE MOVIE. THIS MOVIE WILL LEAVE YOU SMILING WHEN ITS TIME FOR THE CREDITS TO ROLL.

Irritating delivery, and weak characters

Personally, I didn't think much of this film. The way that a lot of the film came across - as a monologue by the main character - didn't make the story believable, and took away from the enjoyment from the film, as it made it quite irritating as the scene would be good, and then interrupted by her talking to the camera.I also didn't think a lot of the cast, and I think that the characters were too irritating to be likable, especially in a story like this. Though I didn't like their characters, two actors that I liked were Anthony Anderson, as he is a strong favourite of mine, and is a brilliant actor, and Mo'Nique, who did very well in her role.Over all, I don't think I would recommend this film to people, and if I was given the opportunity to watch it again, I think I'd turn it down.

It was pretty funny

I enjoyed this movie. I Thought Viveca played her part well. Although, I do like Viveca. She's really convincing. Morris Chestnut, is soooooooooooo fine. I really enjoyed looking at him. But overall, i liked this movie. go get it.

Great movie!

I really enjoy this movie. I laugh every time I see it. The only complaint that I really have about this DVD is the special features...meaning that...their aren't that many! What's the point of having a DVD if you're not going to have at least SOME GOOD (good is the keyword) special features? I don't know...I just thought the special features were kind of a disappointment! No deleted scenes or alternate endings...just whack interviews.

Liked it but.....

See, that's the problem with the sexes today. Everybody wants to control the other. Now, here you have a woman who saw her man and another woman in the club dancing(after He said he would be working late), and this girl got this brother alternating from calling her often to going out his mind. What happened to sitting down and setting it straight?? I liked this movie, but between all these head games that Vivica A. Fox and Anthony Anderson was doing, chile, you would have thought they were corporate merger headhunters, not playing in the delicate game of
love, and what did she accomplish?? Almost loosing ol' boy to a high class skeezer. This is too,too much. Folks need to come correct here. Now, what is the benefit of all those rules when you don't have no one to be with at the end of those 10 days???? Where was your purpose then? Now, I don't date, and maybe that may one of the reasons, but we put ourselves under too much darn stress over each other. Get real and get straight. Life is too darn short.

One of my favorites

Yes, it's campy and Vivica Fox's weaves are distracting. But overall, whenever I catch this film, I still laugh. Anthony Anderson was truely halarious and honestly I haven't seen him anything quite as funny since. Overall, this is a fun movie about the games men and women place. Highly recommended.

This movie was an excellent expression of the rat race relationships fall into when the trust factor has been violated. I think that this is a must see for any couple, together. This will let them both realize that in any relationship, only integrity, and "LOVE", can conquer all obstacles!! True love that is!! Games are out, but true love will win everytime.

Enough Truth In This Movie

This movie is pretty much on point concerning relationships and the games we play to see how far we can go and to see how much a person cares. Two Can Play That game is a tasteful movie with a lot of Humor. Vivica Fox as Shante does a good job narrating this movie. She acctually gives good advice about how to conduct yourself in some areas of relationship problems. Morris Chestnut, Mr. Fine Himself, also did a good job, potraying how men really feel, it's not always I dont Give a Care about her. Men have feelings too. I can appreciate a movie like this, It's nothing extrodinary, but a movie you wouldn't mind discussing with friends and family. Also, Good Performances by Gabriel Union and Anthony Anderson. Check it Out.

Enjoyable...watchable...but hardly memorable.

This movie had the potential to do something great, but failed. Vivica Fox was decent in her first starring role (was it a starring role?) as Shante.
She is a great actress who doesn't get great roles (like most black actresses) but she put accurate effort into the character. The problem was that the movie relied too heavily on Shante's in-your-face-dialogue. And the game itself was a bit too farfetched. Of course women play games, but the lengths Shante went to just to teach Keith a lesson wasn't realistic.
And is it just me or was practically everybody from The Brothers in this movie? (Morris Chestnut, Tamala Jones, Gabrielle Union). Good note - Monique was hilarious in her role as she should be. I did like this movie, but it would be nice to see a black movie that doesn't always rely on humor and battle of the sexes-type themes. What I would give to see a serious movie about African-Americans again. Another Soul Food-esque film would be excellent.

I thought that the movie was pretty funny. It was much better than How to be a Player, same writer. Anthony Anderson and Mo'Nique kept me in stitches. I didn't like that Viveca narrated the whole movie, that got on my nerves. This movie is definately worth checking out and not just a rental! This was a well acted movie. Bobbie Brown could've had a larger role I thought. If you're depressed, this will sure bring you a couple of laughs to take your mind off your worries

just okay

The movie has the characters that you liked and scenes that are funny. But I didn't like the story. I am not a game player when it comes to relationships so I had lost interest.

3.5 stars...

Granted I wasn't expecting the setup. Fox moreorless narrates the movie. Men and Women playing games when they think MOTOS is playing out of the field that they are allowed to. "Shante" (Fox) finds her supposed to be well respected man on the dancefloor with another women when he said he was going to be at work late. From there Shante plays the waiting game, let's him call and moreorless begs to communicate with her, she leaves him hanging to make him keep calling back.

Sooner or later, he gets tired and starts to really play the field-though it looks like only to get back at her. It turns out that he is just playing the game that she is. Do they meet up again in the end? Well that's something you will have to watch the movie for.

Funny in some parts but overall just basic fact on what happens when men and women's emotions get involved when they think the member of the opposite sex is playing around. Or when they really are playing around. I give it a 3.5 stars out of 5. I, like many others, felt that there would have been deeper roles than this, given the actors and actresses playing the parts. But anyways-it's a relationship chick flick. It wouldn't hurt to rent it, if it interest you!

hmmmmmm!

i guess ill give it 3 stars. the preview for this movie looked really good! but the movie did not match i dont think it was horrible, but it was not the hilarious wonderful movie i was expecting. i think those kind of misleading previews can really kill a movie. it was ok, but ill probably never watch it again even though morris chestnut is in it. some of it was funny but not really funny and alot of it just wasnt funny. maybe if i didnt expect so much from it i would have liked it more.

This is perhaps the best romantic comedy I've ever seen. Vivica's character catches her man out on the dance floor when he said he'd be working late. He explains but she's determined to keep him in line by punishing him. It's hilariously funny and very romantic. A must see!

This is one of the stupidest movies of all time!

posted on 17 Jul 2008

Is it me, or do the writers of some comedic shows and movies, try too hard to get a laugh? I found a lot of fault with this movie. Early in the movie, Shante says that if men acted right, women would give them all the love and respect they deserved. Please! Now we all know that this is not always true, on either side. A person could be as compassionate, considerate, loving, loyal, faithful and respectful as ever, and in return they get nothing but hate, disrespect, and a barrage of blows, physical, verbal and psychological. There is more stupidity throughout the film. There is the scene where her friend has a man who is cheating. This is where Shante advises women to plant an underwear somewhere and confront the man with this "evidence". Now, don't you think I ought to remember who I slept with last night, and what color underwear she was wearing? If she wore any at all? The fool in this movie falls for this "trick" and makes up a lie about the underwear being his sister's. That part was ridiculous. Now, are most men still this stupid? Are they still stupid enough to bring other women into their homes, which they may share with their wives or girlfriends? Have they not seen "How to be a player"? Did they not all learn that you do NOT bring the sidepiece to the home? Did they not learn that you have to be discreet? The fool apparently didn't.The other thing is, why confront me about something I didn't do? That whole part was pretty absurd, just like some women's habit of destroying property when a man does wrong. The only parts I enjoyed are when Keith starts playing some games of his own. Oh, and this disgusted me. Shante slept with Keith on the first night. Very slutty and tacky indeed. The movie makes Shante seem too full of herself. Does she really believe that her man would call her that many times after she breaks up with him? Does she really think that he would that depressed? Like Keith was in this movie?

Miss Thing Played This Game

Miss Vivica Played the part in this movie. She was professional and very to the point. Everyone who played in this movie did a very good job. This is real live rather you believe it or not . This is how a lot of people play games but she did it with class. Mark Brown selected a good cast for this movie. I recommend it highly .

flat out funny

Two Can Play This Game

This movie was great. Most people wouldn't think this action actually goes on but men and women both play these "I'm not going to let my true feelings show yet I don't want to be hurt" games. This movie wasn't offensive the way some African American cast movies are. It was very sophisticated and depicted careers we now have.
The cast was superb and very funny, especially the insecure women in their relationships. Vivica and Morris created their characters unfolding from beign uptight and unsure to "we are for real."

I want to know the type and make of car Vivica Fox drove in the movie. Thanks Mark Brown for being REAL. May God continue to inspire you and increase your worth and talent as an all around artist. Yvonne

DISAPPOINTING MOVIE

Two Can Play That Game Morris Chestnut/Vivica A. Fox/Anthony AndersonI recently rented this disappointing movie from first time writer/director Mark Brown. I make it a general practice to rent on DVD. Once watching the movie, I then review the Director's commentary. I couldn't get through the second scene of the commentary. Mr. Brown is definitely new to the game of film making. While the movie was well casted, Morris Chestnut, Anthony Anderson, Monique, Bobby Brown, Gabriella Union (who was miss-casted) and others, Anthony Anderson saved the movie. Keith (Morris Chestnut) is a successful Attorney and Anthony Anderson is his colleague and friend. Anthony's character coaches Keith in dealing with a `smarter than the average woman'.The idea of a trimmed down and toned Vivica A. Fox speaking directly into the camera throughout the entire movie, turned me off. While the idea of this successful Black woman, living large and in charge, the epitome of respect from her girlfriends is appealing – the character falls real short. She spends the entire movie giving advice as if it came from that stupid book, `The Rules' yet at the end (when she realizes the big plan may have backfired - she flips the script and punks out) To be honest I was very disappointed with the ending.Mr. Brown's vision was to show the games we play in love. The games played in this movie are some of the oldest tricks in the book and ones I would think a professional woman wouldn't need to play. A disappointing first effort by Mr. Brown. I can say this much, it was much better than `How To Be a Player'.
