Weekend at Bernies II

As always Amazon your services have matched your promise of quick service. This film is not easily available in all places (especially in Australia) thanks for making accessibility easy.

This is how bad this movie is...

I ordered a large pizza tonight from a well known pizza place (that will remain nameless to save its reputation) that was offering a free DVD with the pizza. So, from the limited selection, I decided on Weekend At Bernie's 2.The DVD came in a paper sleeve. Not even a plastic jewel case. After watching it I realized that the movie didn't even deserve the sleeve. THAT'S how bad this movie is.The premise is stupid, the dialogue is bad, and not even the slap-stick humor performed on a corpse was even smirk invoking. Others have said that the only laugh they got from this movie was when Bernie was dancing. Stand in front of the mirror and dance around like a complete moron. Do you make yourself laugh? Then you STILL won't like this movie. It's awful, absolutely awful. As far as the careers of the people involved, just ask yourself one question: where are they now?If you can answer that question, then you'll understand how bad this movie is.Watching this movie is like having gangrene infect my eyes. Spare yourself the anguish. Let it collect dust in the video store and rent ANYTHING else.No stars.

I think that bernie is the greatest movie ever. Thank you for giving my life meaning! I thought that this movie was funny to watch, and even better to live after. I want to enjoy this movie for years to come!

Worst film I've ever seen

Words cannot express how poor this film is.There is no plot, the acting is appalling, basically the whole film is the same joke, that Bernie comes to life when music plays, repeated over and over again. With a running time of 97 minutes, it's about 95 minutes too long.It might have been OK as a short sketch on a comedy show, but the premise is way too flimsy to work for that amount of time without boredom kicking in.The guy who plays the corpse works very hard, but this really is a poor film, even by American standards.

Excellent Film

An excellent sequel to a funny movie. If you liked Weekend At Bernie's, then this movie does an excellent job of filling in missing pieces from the first. A great movie. Now if it would only be released on a Digital Video Disk along with Weekend At Bernie's.

A great movie to help you forget the rat race of life

Picture this: It's Wednesday night, and you had a fight with your boss. Your significant other just left you. On the way home from work, you get a flat tire. Your cell phone battery went dead while trying to get a hold of roadside assistance, and to top it all off, you had to rush your kid to a supermarket bathroom that had a sign on it that says, "Out of Order." So I am guessing that you will need the funniest video you can find to watch. A movie that is also very unusual, with a lot of slapstick comedy. And one in which you can put your brain on hiatus while you watch it. "Weekend at Bernies II" is just such a movie.

Even better than the first movie "Weekend at Bernies II" has some voodoo, and a couple of guys that think a dead body will somehow lead them to a treasure chest of money at the bottom of the ocean. You're probably thinking, these guys have to get a clue. I mean really, but somehow they make it happen.

Bernie, when he was alive, was a rich swindler, who liked milking people out of their money. He just never realized he could cause so many people so many problems after he died. But that's what happens in this movie. Bernie goes parasailing, pulls a trailer with some people riding in it, and listens to head phones while underwater, amongst other things. And he does all this looking as dead as anybody could be.

You will laugh so hard while watching, "Weekend at Bernies II" that you will probably forget your bad day. Wouldn't that be nice.

Disappointing

I watched this film for only one reason, which was that the original was fantastic. This story had a lot of potential which wasn't really used at all. Without as many laughs, and quite a bad story, I found this movie rather a let down. It was occasionally funny in places, but it's nothing special, and over all, disappointing. Stay with the first movie, it's much, much better.

Bernie should've just stayed dead

This movie is super cheesy. I only bought it because I had Bernie's I, which is much better. They almost made a Bernie's III, but it got lost in, what they call, "development hell."

I have a feeling that if they indeed made a Bernie's III, it'd be worse than the II. Don't buy it. Rent it and make a copy.

Weekend away from Bernies

When I saw this film, I could not believe that they travel with the dead boss and the body doesn't start to stink. Even when the lady was laying on the beach with him overnight, she didn't smell him. Obviously, no one in this movie can smell. The acting wasn't the best and the white haired guy kept getting arrested but the two guys with the dead body did not. The only part that I liked was when Bernie was dancing around, I thought that was funny, but other than that the movie was bad. Bernie actually looks like a professor I had in college, but the professor was more interesting than this movie. It would have made more sense if Bernie was constantly drunk or retarded or something. Then no body would have to waste the weekend watching this.

Did anyone say 'Golden Palm from Cannes'?

Is it possible to improve on perfection, in this case that meisterwerk of Americana, 'Weekend at Bernie's'? 'Weekend at Bernie's 2' (W@B2) has proved itself to be one of the enduring works of American film. It takes the timeless themes of courage in the face of defeat and personal triumph won from loss and transforms them into a magnificent twentieth-century classic.

Several people told me that this film is boring, simple, or too short to have won the praise it got. Well, the only thing they did wrong was that they misapproached this dazzling work. To fully enjoy this staggering film, you need to have a good knowledge of English. Also, you need to have the ability to visualize what underlying message each scene is trying to form.

W@B2 lets us see our own lives more clearly, by experiencing the challenge to and empathizing with the protagonists in this classic tale of man versus nature and man versus himself that explores the true nature of human nobility. What does life mean? What are we striving for? From what do we gain our dignity? Anyone who thinks that he who dies with the most toys wins can learn a great deal from this story. Even if the story was not so compelling and universal in its appeal and themes, the film is worth the trip just for the acting. Seldom has so much complexity been portrayed with such simplicity. Miscommunication is what people have the most trouble with in cooperating with each other. Tell a story like this one that makes the point you want to share. Then tell the story again and again. Thirty times or more, and everyone will begin to get it. When your viewers start telling the story thirty times to others, you have made an important first step. Watch this film, learn from it each time, and enjoy ... enjoy ... enjoy!

Goofy sequel. Very early 90's style.

This sequel was more goofy-humor oriented than the original that had tongue in cheek humor mixed with black comedy. In this sequel you can't forget about quality because you will get insanity instead. There is no need to tell that the plot is a total joke that deals reviving Bernie with voodoo. Could that work?! Well, it does but the results are not very favorable. We get silly situations mixed with the main character's stupidity surrounded by a goofy vibe. This sequel should only be recommended for HUGE fans of the original. If not, stay away from it because it's not even half as funny as the original. At least, Jonathan Silverman, Andrew McCarthy and Terry Kiser are back. They're the best thing from this almost-mess.If nostalgia is a common denominator in your film experience, then you should watch it; otherwise, it should be kept as an obscure sequel.

Great Classic

This is one of the funniest movies of all time. In opposition to the first, this one is a little less kid friendly due to a 5 second clip of partial nudity, but other than that it's great for watching with a group of friends.

hilarious

i thought this was a very funny movie.it made me laugh.no one won an oscar but if you want to see entertainment that doesnt take itself seriously then you will love this movie.i watched this movie with my nephew and he loved it,especially when bernie danced.he is 5 by the way and im 35 and we both loved it.the people who pan this movie must have a terrible social life.it wasnt meant to be serious(watch the first one).its just funny.if you dont take yourself seriously you will love this movie.so go rent this movie and laugh and feel good.it doesnt make you think just LAUGH.the plot is silly but its meant to be isnt that what comedy is about.no oscars here but lots of laughs.

Another Childhood Favorite!!!

This is a really good sequel! A week after the madness, Richard and Larry need to prove they didn't steal the money, so they take Bernie's body from the morgue and go to the Virgin Islands. Charles and Henry got hold of Bernie before Richard and Larry and performed Voodoo in order to bring Bernie back from the dead, so they can find the money. Unfortunately, they do it wrong and can only walk when music is playing. Will zombie Bernie lead the guys to the money before Richard dies from a poisonous drink? I highly recommend WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S II!!!

p.s. Happy Martin Luther King Day!!!

Larry and Richard are back in this somewhat lacking sequel

This movie was a good idea but didn't quite live up to it's hilarious "part 1." Part 1 was genious (forgive my spelling) the way they could perfectly capsure the way we might sometimes think but never actually do. The sequel is a good movie to talk through and laugh at some parts.

I loved the first Bernies and it was hilarious. This one is not quite as good but still has lots of laughs as poor Bernie is dragged around.

Laugh out loud funny in the extreme. Excellent follw up of the first film in the duo. Bernie is the funniest dead person possible.
Brilliant

Not quite zombie humor, but close...

Not a lot of people liked this movie, but just as many people did! It is a sequel to an improbable comedy that I would have thought impossible, but they actually pulled it off, and it is funnier that the original. Of course it is tasteless, silly, and ridiculous. It is a one-gag comedy that milks the one gag for all it is worth, like Chuck Jones did with Fearless Freep. A salute must of course be given to Terry Kiser, the real star of the film, who flops and sags and dances his way through these two preposterous movies. Playing a corpse is always an admirable skill, especially a corpse hauled all over the stage or screen. Kiser does it brilliantly. If you aren't offended by this kind of humor, go see it.
