This docudramedy follows an artist as two producers looking to answer the question put him through the paces: Can You Build a Rapper? The producers set out for an open mic night in Watts, Calif., and find JP, 24-year- old kid from St. Augustine, Fla., with no skills. In the film, JP shares his personal stories and he takes us home to Florida to meet his friends and family. Back in LA, the producers begin JP’s transformation–he records a demo, learns the hip-hop culture, including the ‘right way’ to tip an stripper, get a haircut at a black barbershop, how to fire a gun like a ‘gangsta,’ and a host of other hilarious scenarios.
