A concert special originally produced for HBO, BREAKING THE RULES virtually launched Sam Kinison's too brief career. Within 48 hours after this special aired, Kinson had a record deal, a role in Rodney Dangerfield's BACK TO SCHOOL, and was on his way to stardom. A former Pentecostal preacher, Kinison's diatribes on women, homosexuals, and the religious right earned him a legion of fans that included Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, as well as other top musical of the era, who also appeared with him in his music videos.
